It was a terribly hot day out in the fields without a hint of shade in sight. Even in the late afternoon. There was some small mercy granted by the occasional passing cloud, but it wasn't the most ideal. A relatively short, middle aged shiba woman was sat on a chair situated on the porch of her farm house, awaiting the arrival of the Freeswords she had hoped to find. Nothing really seemed out of place in the picture, save that the woman's right arm seems to have been replaced with a prosthetic. A rather cheaply made one, at that.
Selena stretches as the heat beat down on her, the wolfess through some means of magic or tolerance not seeming too fussed with the heat - at least, not so much when walking. She looks back at the homestead for a moment, mentally checking it against something before she approaches the Shiba proper. The prosthetic does get a slightly odd look - after all, was there really such thing as a cheaply made one? - before she speaks up proper. "You wanted to speak with some freeswords about something?" She greets, offering out a hand.
Fenris saunters across the fields, abusing just a touch of air math to give himself a bit of a cool breeze. His long, dark coat flutters a bit in his magical cooling system. He glances around with a small smile. It looks like things have managed to recover well enough since his last misadventure here at the farm. And there were no beings pretending to be farm animals that he could see, so this mission was already off to a great start! He raises a hand in greeting as he comes close to the porch. "Hello, Marcy!" he calls out, "How are things?"
Angus whistles to himself as he walks through the field as well, having no problems with the heat as he steps up next to Selena, looking over the one that called them as he smiles. "Good evening Miss, you called for us?" He asks curiously as he looks over those near him.
Ayano makes her way through the paths slowly, her armor clinking dully together as she keeps her head low and gently humms to herself. A thick wide brimmed reed hat was set upon her head to help keep the light out of her eyes, and she seemed to be using a rather large longbow as a staff for her traveling before she was finally next to the others freeswords. The Red Panda's tail flicking for a moment as she offers a bow before clearing her throat gently. "Blessings upon this day. There was a request for aid from here?"
Rogna strolls along the path to the assigned meeting place in the farmlands, surveying the area around him with curiosity to see how the crops were going to do this year, always nice to have excess information in the courts if it is needed. As he arrives and eyes the Shiba, he says "Hello there." with a wave of his arm before he awaits their greetings, giving a smile and wave to Selena and Angus as well. He was in good company it seems, and they, were in Good company. He chuckles silently to imself, having heard this joke many a time and yet it never seemed to get old to him, even in his own head.
The canine woman stands from her chair, flashing a smile as the Freeswords approach. Even Fenris gets a wave from her left hand. "Things are alright. It'll be a good season for crops, I think. Plenty of sun and rain, lately. But yes, onto business. I don't want to waste your time. The other day my children were out playing, when my youngest came home and told me she had heard some strange noises coming from an old run down place off aways. You know how kids are, so I didn't really pay much of a mind to it, you know? I decided to check it out to put them at ease, though, and..." The woman pauses for a moment, trying to decide just how to put it. "Well. I certainly heard -something-. I don't quite know what it was, but it sounded like scraping, and some hushed voices. Almost like a chant, you know? I'm not much of a fighter, so I didn't stick around. But if there's something out there, I want to make sure it's not a threat to my family. That's where you come in! Do you think you could check it out for us? We don't have much to offer, but we can give what we can."
Selena looks back over her shoulder as the other beings arrive. "So you think there's some beings around here doing something unusual?" She asks a little perplexedly and moving back towards Angus and Rogna, the other familiar faces being given friendly nods. "Rogna, it's good to see you again... And Angus, Kalt was fine when you left, right? I came here straight from work, so... I'm not too sure."
Fenris smiles at the woman and nods at her prosthetic. "How is the arm holding up?" he asks, "I've told you time and again that I will make you a better one if you will let me." He nods to his fellow freeswords as they arrive. "But for now," he says, "I'll be happy to help out with whatever you found out there."
Angus crosses his arms and nods, turning to Selena as he smiles. "Kalt's okay last time I checked, left her with a nurse to take care of her." He eyes the woman before he nods and moves to go get his Golem that he had left a few feet away, he didn't want to scare the Shiba with it after all.
Rogna nods to the woman. "Well then, let us go secure the safety of your home, and your peace of mind swiftly. It may have been a one time thing, perhaps some pranksters or, one of these spirits I've heard so much about, but let us make idle banter on the way." he says as he draws a sword, and adjusts his cape before asking he direction of travel. "And yes, good to see you too Selena. Angus Solacious, are you supposed to be warding someone?"
Marcy looks at her arm, then at Fenris and shrugs. "It works well enough to get me through the day. And I know you offered, but we like to earn what we got, you know? But I may reconsider, someday." Turning her attention towards Selena, she nods. "I do. Sorta. I don't really know what to think, but I heard some of those Old Ones had cultists and stuff. The way I figure it, if it's somethin' like that we should go and nip it in the bud before it turns into a Mossy Stone, hm? Come on, I'll show you folks where it's at." Stepping down from the porch, the woman moves off to lead the way across the farmland. "I hope it's just pranksters or something, but I don't really like taking chances with that kind of thing."
Selena shakes her head back to Rogna. "Not 'ward', but we've been making sure his... Lover doesn't get into more trouble until she's back on her feet and not missing an arm." she replies with a quiet chuckle, raising an eyebrow. "Well, that makes both of us hope they're not cultists."
That said, she follows behind the woman, moving through the fields with the rest of the group.
Fenris nods to Marcy and turns to follow the Shiba. He worries for her and all the others that have been hurt the way that Marcy was, through fear and senseless violence. He is also worried about the idea of cultists around the Ridgewater farms. The tiger has not forgotten his run in with the caller of Olg'Ish.
Angus had never encountered callers of Olg'ish before, in fact he has barely ever encountered callers. He shrugs his shoulders a bit as he grabs onto the handle on the metal carapase of his golem before he sticks his foot into the spur he had put there, hosting himself up onto the back of his Metal Mantis as he points it in the direction everyone was moving.
The trip across the terrain is pretty quiet, save for the loud concert of insects that tends to be prevalent in the hot weather. Eventually, the shiba woman brings them up to what looks to be an old farm house on the outskirts, but it appears to have been left vacant for quite some time. It's quiet enough on the outside, but it doesn't exactly look inviting, either. "Alright. This is far as I'm going to go, I think. I'll be waiting out here for good news, hopefully! But I'd just be in your way if there was actually something going on." She pushes the door open and stands aside, easing herself onto the ground to settle in for a wait. "If there's any questions you need answered before you go in, let me know! I'll... Do what I can, but I don't know if what I can do will be much."
Selena nods appreciatively to the elderly woman leads them to the door - the wolfess giving Angus an odd look as he mounts his mechanical creation, shooting a quick quip at him "When did you get so lazy?" - before looking back at the group as the trip ends. "I'd appreciate not taking point. There's enough golems or... Better equipped beings for that." She chuckles, nodding to Fenris and Rogna - after all, between the golem and noble swordsman, one of the two is probably better armored.
"I'm still not noticing anything odd, but I'm not convinced..." She mutters, peering at the dilapidated house a little concernedly.
"You're a gem Marcy," Fenris says with a smile before walking up to the open door. "About what hour did you come and hear the chanting?" he asks. The tiger checks his gear to be sure that there is nothing loose or jangly hanging from his coat, then turns to check his spiky golem. It would be best if they could slip in quietly, after all. Now that he thought about it, maybe chanting didn't sound like an Olg'ish cult after all. Weren't they meant to be solitary? Gradually, a vivid green question mark starts to form on the white fur on his throat.
Angus dismounts from his golem and gives Selena a shrug. "I'm not lazy?" He comments, flashing her a smile before he draws his sword at his hip and looks to the open door, flicking his ears as he looks to the others. "Soooo, knock or just walk in? Either way I think we should wipe our feet, to be respectful." He teases flashing a smile.
Rogna eyes the building and says "Perhaps someone should wait outside for a moment while we search the interior so no one leaves via the alternate exits, someone fast presumably. I'll take front." he offers as he moves to stand in front of he others, drawing two swords to his sides as he looks the interior over in a mostly commitited battle stance, edging forward until he is sure it is safe to loosen his guard via reliable vision, alert. He lowly says "What is that...?"
The soft murmuring is momentarily punctuated by something that sounds rather like a metal object being dropped onto something hard. Like a rock. The house itself, though, seemed... Well, fairly well stocked for a place that was supposed to be abandoned. There was fresh fruit on the table, and a rug off to the side that didn't seem as dusty as the rest of the place.
Selena looks back to Rogna and nods. "That does seem like a reasonable option. I can wait outside if you want - it's easier for me to work outside of a cluttered area, but if you'd like me inside I can join you there." She notes, rubbing her cheek. "Well. Either way, I'll be where you want me to be." She notes.
Fenris listens and hears the faint sound of what might be distant chanting rising up from the floorboards. "This does not feel like any of the Old Ones that I know," he says quietly, another question mark, this one a vivid purple, appears on his cheek. He sniffs at the air, "Copper? Sulfur? Old Fruit?" he mutters, "Nothing that I have met before." The tiger beckons his golem forward as he starts to look for stairs or a trap door. "Let's keep this quiet now," he says, "No need to stir up more trouble than we are already bound to have." The suspicious rug catches his eye and he saunters over and instructs Speedy McShieldman to pull the rug aside.
Angus turns to Selena, then looks to the door before he slaps his golem on the hide and points to Selena. "Listen to her." He states before he sheaths his sword and draws his dagger instead, Wanting to have as much movement as possible in a crowded room as he keeps his right hand hovering over the grip of his pistol as he follows Fenris.
Rogna looks to Selena and nods, and smiles. "Why that is generous to say but you should also be where you want to be. I suppose the easiest method would be for a quick lap around and then enter in a few moments." he sas back to Selena as he moves about the area, the rug also catching his eye. he stands ready to remove a door if it is there, although he does not stop watching his surroundings.
When Fenris' golem moves the rug aside there is, sure enough, a trap door, plain as the day outside. It's not even locked! Terrible security. The sound of the voices stops for the time, but it doesn't exactly sound like there's much preparation taking place on the other side. Instead, the silence is left to be broken by the distant sound of tapping on metal.
Selena watches as the group file into the old house, the wolfess moving around the old building as Rogna had suggested - checking for hidden exits, cellar doors and other means of access to the house, humming softly to herself as she goes about the rather bland deed. Someone, after all, had to do it.
Rogna looks to the door and moves to thrust it open, not intending to miss a beat as he gauges his size against the hole then attempts to decend, weapons in hand. "Let us go." he murmers lowly.
Fenris looks around at his fellow Freeswords then glances down the trapdoor after Rogna. Since nothing seems to be in the way, he starts a careful descent with his golem climbing ponderously after. Good thing he had brought Speedy instead of one of his heavier creations.
Angus gives Rogna a nod as he slowly goes down the stairs, narrowing his eyes as he keeps his right hand on the grip of his pistol, tali flicking a bit as he slowly, slowly walks down the stairs.
Selena's wanderings yield results, as she comes to a pair of double doors around the back of the house, leading into what must be the cellar. As the Freeswords make their way into the basement from the other side, they are met with the source for some of the clanging noises: A young salamander lad in an overly typical black hooded robe, bent over... Well, calling it a 'golem' would be rather generous. It was more of golem shaped creation of scrap metal, more fit to be a scarecrow. Any golem crafter worth their salt could see it was never going to function. As the salamander looks up to see the intruders, weapons in hand, his eyes go wide. "Oh shit." The boy quickly turns and bolts for the other cellar entrance- The one Selena had found- hoping to make an escape.
Selena sighs quietly as she finds the pair of doors - rather than flinging them open to see where they lead, the wolfess instead chooses to work a little earth magic, raising a small mound of dirt up in front of the door - it's clear she's in no rush, but she does raise it enough that it'd jam the door for anyone opening it at least.
The earth magic gives an almost immediate result, as something promptly thumps into the doors from the other side. "Oh no. No, no, no. Come on, open!" The salamander kicks and bludgeons at the doors to no avail, before turning back to the cellar. "D-Don't kill me! I didn't hurt no one!"
Fenris recognizes the young salamander as one of his young contacts from the Shanties. He doesn't always know their names, but he definitely knows that face. With a focused effort, the tiger's features blur and change, becoming those of an older, scarred alleycat with a missing chunk of ear and a scar over a milky, left eye. "Kid!" he calls out, his voice suddenly aged and rough, "Kid, chill!" The disguised Lightbringer slips around Rogna's imposing form. "Nobody's gonna hurt you!" he says gently. Well, as gently as that rasp can manage. "What are you doing down here?" he asks, "Does your Da know you're out here?"
Angus flicks his ears, looking to Fenris then the kid as he sheaths his dagger and takes a step back in front of the stairs, crossing his arms as he makes sure to bar the only other exit for the Salamander as he gives him a soft smile.
Rogna keeps his swords drawn and watches carefully, although he drops his stance a little. "What might you be doing down here that has you hiding?" he questions, looking the salamander over once more. He also eyes Fenris, with a raised eyebrow as he shoves this bit of information away for further inquiry later. If he can see it, he also attempts to inspect whatever the boy was working upon.
The creation of his is laid out on the ground plain for Rogna to see. To an untrained eye, it might look quite a bit like a golem, if mostly composed of rusted and dented scrap metal. The salamander looks towards Fenris, taken aback to see a familiar face here. "I... Uhm. He knows I'm out, but... I was just making this golem here. To help out my friends!" To be fair, he's not -lying-. "I'm not harming anyone, really!" Though that's only one person. And there were certainly multiple voices to be heard, earlier!
Selena blinks for a moment as she hears the loud thud at the door, the wolfess knocking quietly - before running back around the other side of the house and down to the house's cellar, approaching the group from behind.
Fenris raises an eyebrow at the young salamander and follows his gaze to the tapestry. Hung in a cellar. In an abandoned farmhouse. The disguised tiger sighs and shakes his head. "Alright kiddo," he rasps, "Call yer buddies out from their hidey-hole and let's talk a minute." He gives the youth a snaggletoothed smile, revealing one disproportionately long fang. "Has old Amos ever steered you wrong?" The tiger leans expectantly against the wall, folding his arms.
Angus turns his gae to the tapestry as well, then back to the Salamander as he draws his pistol in his left hand before lowering it to his hip as he stands and waits, patting his right hand on his thigh a little impatiently as his gaze darts over to Fenris then the tapestry again.
The salamander's face falls again as they start to notice the tapestry. "I don't... I mean, if I did, they'd know something was up! It's..." He seems to be on the verge of saying something, but cuts himself off. Leave it to the shanty resident to not want to be That Guy that snitches. "Look, we never hurt anybody. And we didn't plan to! We just wanted to make the best of our situations! Don't hurt 'em, please?"
Slipping past Fenris's golem a little awkwardly, aparrently not too pleased with the location. Finally on the scene she looks back over to the Salamander and coughs quietly. "Sorry, you didn't hurt yourself against the door at all?" She asks, looking a little less tense than the rest of the people present. "It might be best to start from the beginning at this point." she observes, gesturing back over to the group for a moment - "The lady that lives nearby mentioned chanting, though. I would like to know why, but... I think I should let them do the talking if they already know you."
Fenris shrugs and waves a beckoning hand to Speedy who trundles out from behind the other Freeswords. "Suit yourself kid," he says, "But how else are you screw-ups gonna learn how to make a proper golem?" The transformed tiger gives another snaggle toothed grin. "All that chantin' ain't doing you much good so far, is it?" he asks.
Angus takes a step out of the way to allow Selena down and flicks his ears, deciding that he might as well do something as he walks over to the Tapestry, grabs it in his right and and tugs to tear it down.
Rogna listens for a moment and watches as the tapestry is moved, swords at ready, he moves to inspect the revealed cave. The boy must have had company, and he was locked into the room with all the others, the royal hippo might as well see what was going on next door.
The salamander boy looks a little confused at Selena's apparent... Concern? "Ah.. I was... Okay. A little scared, but not hurt." He seems to be calming down, now that he's confident they won't try to kill him. "I dunno. I just kinda figured if I made the golem right one of those... Uh. Machine spirit things would come and take over or something." He rubs the back of his head, making it clear just how little he actually knows about the process. As Angus tears away the tapestry, he and Rogna are treated to a relatively spacious cave, but a simple one. It's not particularly long, eventually emptying into a large cavern.
Selena raises an eyebrow. "Machine spirits? Do you mean the kind machine priests use, or spirits like The Spark?" She asks a little perplexedly, then looking back to the cave, biting her lip a little. "How old are you all, anyway? You can't have been here for a short time with all of this here." She notes - "Why not the orphanage in Firmament?"
Fenris snorts and shakes his head. "Doesn't work like that, kid," he rasps, "Now let's go talk with yer buddies before one of em does somethin stupid like attacking the nice Freeswords, huh?" The tiger nods to his golem, "If y'all play nice, I might even show you how speedy here works." If the boy and his friends were really interested in making golems and not trying to do something stupid, this might be a chance for them to get off the streets! "What're you trying to build a golem for, kid?" he asks, "I'm willing to bet your Da doesn't know you're all the way out here scarin' the farmer folks."
Angus flicks his ears as he keeps his gun raised and looks aorund, before he lowers his gun and sighs. "Well, this is an intresting outing isn't it lord Rogna?" He asks with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood.
Rogna nods and chuckles, swords still drawn. "Yes this is turning into an interesting outing indeed. I wonder how the farmland above has not collapsed upon this cavern. We aren't that far down I would think. Be careful for faulty structures." he says before he follows the torchlight along the path.
The salamander huffs and goes to take the Freeswords through the cave to his friends as he answers Selena. "Yeah, the machine priest one. That's how they work, isn't it? Kind of like... Shadows! Except they take over golems and stuff instead of beings? And that would be kind of neat, Amos. I was building it to... Well. To scare people off, honestly. I figured... If people got curious and saw a golem down here they'd leave! And they wouldn't bother us. But please don't tell my dad? I don't wanna upset him." As the group enters the larger room, the four other beings turn to look. Dressed in black robes like the salamander. One of them even startles and drops a bowl of fruit onto the ground. "Oh man. This wasn't supposed to happen."
Selena stifles a chuckle and shakes her head. "Not really. TO tell you the truth, even the machine priests don't know exactly how their machines work. I found that out when I was doing some work on spells there." she replies with a smile. "If you want to get started on making golems then you'd be better asking around town than way out here. You might be able to negotiate with the woman that owns the land to borrow it, though - as long as no harm's been done."
Fenris looks over the assembled youths in their dark robes. "What's with all the cult getup, kids?" he asks in his Amos Longtooth voice. "Hello James, Sharon," he says to a couple of the kids, a german shepherd and a feline girl, "And ain't you Marcy's kid," he asks a shiba boy, "You're Ma is the one that sent us down here!" He waves to the salamander boy, "Yer friend here says yer tryin' to make yerselves a golem!" He smiles as his own golem trundles into the room. "But it looks to me like you are in need of some help," he grins lopsidedly.
Angus chuckles a little, shaking his head as he puts his hands on his hips. "Well this is amusing, please tell me you guys aren't going to start chanting again?" He teases lightly as he flashes them a smile, tali flicking softly as he keeps close to the exit.
Rogna says "No, you were building a golem to 'scare people off', what were you all really doing here? Just trying to commune with a machine spirit? What is going on?" the hippo says, swords dropped slightly before he awaits an answer.
The young beings look amongst themselves for a moment before one of them finally steps forward to be the spokes person. Sharon, the cat lass that had been holding the bowl of fruit. "I... I suppose there is no point in hiding it any longer, huh? It didn't work anyway." She grumbles and rubs at the back of her head while the shiba boy tugs his hood up, clearly not pleased about being recognized while the cat continues, "I don't think we have to tell you that life in the Shanty kinda sucks sometimes. We thought... We thought that maybe we could summon one of those Old Ones. We don't really know much about them, but we thought they'd be able to give us the means to... Provide for ourselves better. But we didn't really know how to... Do that. We don't know much about them, just that they're supposedly powerful."
Selena shakes her head. "No. Nonono." she replies quickly at mention of old ones, setting herself back against a wall and giving the group a sympathetic look. "... You're barely even adults, if that." she sighs to herself. "All of you, the Old ones aren't a good thing to have around. I can't begin to imagine how bad things must be for you to want to go that far, but there's nothing worse that you could do than put yourself into a life-long contract for something that you don't want. Mossy stone's situation is an example of what they've done, and the Kindcraft mining operation another." She explains, taking a short breath.
"That's poisoned bait if ever there was any. I can try to help you find jobs or someone willing to give you clan aptitude tests, but I can't in good conscience do nothing." The wolfess takes another deep breath.
Fenris frowns. And on THIS face that frown is a prodigious thing. "Aye," he rasps, "They are powerful." The tiger turned Alleycat scowls at the youths. "But they ain't likely to help you much," he tells them, "They'll help you right into a grave, and teach you how to hurt each other real good, they will." He looks at Selena and sees her overwhelming desire to help and feels that desire well up in himself. "Listen, kids," he says, "You didn't do too terrible with yer little golem in there. Why don't the lot of you meet me at the machine shops in the maritime district and we'll see what we can do about findin some apprenticeships huh?" The tiger could probably call in a few favors and ply some of his noble friends and contacts for help. And if the mess in the other room showed what these children could manage with NO IDEA what they were doing, they might actually have some promise.
Angus waves his hand. "Better yet why not turn your skills to Firmaments protection? I could see if I could get you apprenticeship under one of the golemcrafters in the Firmament militia, learn to not only defend yourself but learn to make golems to protect your family?" He flashes them a smile as he lowers his arms and allows them to get a good look at his Lightbringers insignia.
Rogna scowls as he hears their intentions, one sword being sheathed as he sighs. He looks like he might say something but his mild frustration persists. "Why would you want to summon an old one upon the fields of your homeland, where you get food? And what could they offer you in power that would help you make a living?" he says in a "I don't understand" tone, before he shakes his head, then chuckles and regains his composure. "Perhaps some aid in funding your lessons will help you strike it on your own, feel free to ask for some help."
The youths look a little put down at the lecture they're treated to. "I don't really know, I mean, it seemed like a good idea at the time," the feline says, staring intently at the ground. "We thought we could -help- our families like this, but I guess it doesn't work like that, huh?" The shiba and the salamander look hopeful, though, the latter making the comment as he looks between Selena and the others. "You think you could? Cecil there doesn't need an aptitude test, he's probably set since his mom isn't an apostate, but that'd be nice for some of us others. And the help with the golems, too. It would be nice to know how to actually make them." The one that had remained silent so far, a german shepherd, looks towards Rogna, frowning. "We're not used to asking for help. Most aren't in a position to give it, really. We figured maybe they could give us power enough that we could go and become sell swords or adventurers or something. Maybe make some money that way."
Selena smiles back at the group, nodding to the feline. "Believe me, a lot of things in life are like that. It's a bad idea, but you did it for the right reasons." She replies, nodding. "I can try. Lady Ironsoul mightn't be around at the moment, but the Defenders still have her name's weight to live up to. I didn't get to where I am today by asking for power - just a lot of practice." The wolfess rubs her cheek. "And even if I can't get you an aptitude test, I can still pay for some lessons at the academy if you want to try your hands and another craft. I've met more than a few apostate in your position and it'd be a shame to see your drive go to waste."
Fenris rasps a cackling laugh. "James," he says to the german shepherd, "I know just the guy to help you out too." The feline produces a pad of paper and a charcoal pencil from within his coat and scribbles down a note for himself. "Come to the machine shop tomorrow," he says, "I got a friend who will give you a tour of the town, barracks, machine shop, docks, hell! I even know a tailor and a blacksmith he can take you to!" He points to Angus's badge. "Mook will be wearin' one of those," he says, "Stripedy fella, answers to the name of Fenris. Can't miss him." The one-eyed feline jerks his head toward the door. "Now let's get you kids home," he says, "You got a long day tomorrow."
Angus gives the old cat a Smirk and a nod. "I'll make sure to give Fenris the day off, and write a recommendation of my own if they wish to try their hand at military grade golem crafting, better yet?" He taps his chin, and flashes him a smile. "I'll talk to Fenris about it, see how much I can help them."
Cecil rubs at the back of his head, sighing. He wasn't looking forward to having to explain this to his mother. It's unlikely that any of them were! The salamander meanwhile nods at Selena. "Thank you. All of you. When you came down the ladder I... I thought the worst, you know? I certainly didn't expect you to end up trying to help us... But we really appreciate it. I know I at least will try not to let it go to waste. And uh... I don't know how much miss Marcy was paying you, but you're welcome to what salvage we didn't use... I think it'll be best if we get a fresh start in the city, you know?" James gives an appreciative nod to 'Amos'. "Fenris? Alright, I'll... We... Will do what we can, then." As they start to file down the cave, the salamander stops in the cellar itself to open a box of salvage for the Freeswords to take from, if they pleased.
Selena chuckles quietly and nods back to the salamander. "You had Marcy worried as well. She heard the chanting and thought you were cultists. In retrospect, I can understand why they might've. I'm mostly just glad that you're all alright, as strange as it might sound. Just look for me at the academy if you need me. In the worst case just ask them where to find me."
Fenris nods and tucks his notepad away. He had a lot of work ahead of him tonight to get ready to take those kids around town. He grins and chuckles a little to himself, it was worth it. "I'll walk you kids home tonight," he says, "No one should have to walk alone in the dark."
Angus chuckles a little as he nods. "If you ever need me, just ask Fenris to send you my way. I'll see hat I can do." Turning around he snags some salvage as he walks away, climbing up the ladder as he starts heading back with a chuckle. "Well, that was fun?"
Rogna follows thhe others away from the scene, shaking his head at how much work had been put into a poorly thought out plan. "Yes let us be on with our day."
Marcy was waiting outside of the derelict house as promised, and as soon as Cecil exited the building she went out to take him by the ear with her prosthetic hand. "You've got a loooot of explaining to do when we get home. You're lucky the people that went down there were so kind! Speaking of which... Thank you, Freeswords. I'm glad you were able to get them out safely. I'm not going to ask what they were doing down there, but I hope it's over for good. Come on, when we get back to the house I'll have your payment, as promised." She turns to make her way back to her home, youths in tow, the heat of the day having faded to a rather warm and muggy night.
Selena whistles quietly at the mother's comment, chuckling quietly as she scolds the Cecil. "Hopefully it will be." she replies, looking back over the fields. "Well, that was a refreshingly nice end to all of this..." she replies to the group with a sigh and a smile.
