Rumor spreads fast. Ruins, right under the city? A city worker fell right into them while doing some work down in the dry portion of the sewers. After being fished out, the area was clearly marked to keep civilians away, but there are no rules keeping the more prepared at bay...

Wulf is mightly intrigued by ruins, being a scout at heart. "Ohohoh Can't wait to get down there and explore, I bet it'll be awesome down there. I wonder if we'll find some lost knowledge"

Jera has made his way to said site. The information a ruin can hold...not to mention theftable artifacts. The boundaries don't ward the fox off at all as he checks his light armaments, wrinkling his nose at the smell of the sewer.

Zero lets out a sigh as he arrives at the scene. Looking around, he sees another canine to which he makes a small nod to in greeting. Adjusting his weapons, he glnces down the entrance, shruging.

Rainer claps both hands onto Wulf's shoulders, peeking over one, then leaning to peek over the other, wearing a smile that stretches from ear to ear... somewhere under the heavy winter cloak he's elected to wear. "Better than knowledge: gold! Lots and lots of gold, and gems! I bet the walls are just lined with them!" He releases her to come up alongside, rubbing his furless paws together gleefully. "No doubt guarded by all kinds of ancient tricks and traps!"

The hole that the fellow broke into seems to be a thin portion of the floor, now a rough and jagged hole that occupies much of the room he was in. Down below, in the darkness, the dim forms of the pieces of stone that fell can be faintly seen.

Only then does Jera notice Wulf and cough uncomfortably, offering a wave. "Uhh...yeah. Sorry about your lock and all..." Zero and Rainer get curt nods beforw the fox slides down the edge of the hole and hangs from it, before letting himself drop onto the floor, landing with a breakfall and a soft thud.

Wulf snickers at Rainer and flashes Jera a knowing and rather... odd grin before she looks down the hole. "Yeah well imagine what that gold will feel like on that bare skin of yours bud. "Anyone got some rope, I neglected to grab some before I ran down here. And I'd rather not accidently break a leg."

Wulf says, "or you know.. we could just drop down... though howe are you goin to get back up little fox?""

Zero shrugs and looks to the other wolves. Taking out his dagger, he detatches some rope and tosses it to Wulf saying, "Here." Turning back to the hole, he calls down to Jera, "Look out below!!!" before hopping down the hole, bending his legs as he impacts the ground.

After a smooth landing a floor and a half down, Zero and Jera find themselves in strangely uniform tunnels, like the halls of a house, but made of smooth material. Not stone, more like metal. Odd.

"Sh-j-j-shhh!" Rainer recoils at the mention of bare skin, holding an index finger up to his lips. A breath huffed out, indignantly, he gives the pit another eyeballing and then, with a wink to the husky, backs up a pace and follows Zero and Jera in taking the Quick Way Down. "Banzai, wahaHA!"

Wulf finds a sturdy stump and rolls her eyes. "Idiots are goin to break something and wind up not getting to explore atall." Tying the rope up she tosses it down the hole. She then takes ahold of one end and pulls on the rope making sure the knot and her anchor are secure before placing her back to the hole and dropping in, letting the rope guide her fall to the floor, landing with a bend of her legs. "Geronimo!"

Rainer rolls with his landing! Or rather, that's what he was trying to do, instead it becomes more of a tumble, as if he was completing a fall down a flight of stairs, ending with him face down on the floor, the swords secured at his hips thrust up in the air, wiggling side to side, complete with a little "boing-g-g" sound. "... ... ...ow."

Zero sighs and mutters "This may take a while" before heading over to Rainer to hoist him up.

Wulf snerks at the comical fall as she lets go of the rope and grabs for the lantern she has secured to her belt, as well as the flint and steel to get it lit "Serves ya right Rainer... shoulda waited till I got this rope here secured, yeah?"

Jera sighs. "Silly. Safety plays are the most important part of making sure risks turn into rewards." He thinks it makes sense at least, sparking up a small flame on a tar coated torch by sparking daggers together as he peers curiouslh around the place. "Silly Rainer."

The group proceeds to explore into those quiet tunnels, feeling along the smooth passages, dark as they may be, looking for treasure or artifacts, or something that may qualify as both, but instead, run into a dead end with markings, two arrows pointing at each other at the end of it.

Wulf lifts her lantern up and looks at the symbol on the wall. "All right... let's see... that might mean there is an entrance here, or to dig here." Lifting her free hand up she gives the door a knock with her hand. "Any ideas?"

Rainer brushes himself off, shying away from Zero as the other wolf helps him up, keeping his head turned away and thoroughly concealed behind the hood of his cloak. "Ha ha... Adventuring Rule #7: be the centre of attention." he wheezes, as if that somehow justifies his recklessness. When they arrive at the end of the tunnel, he scoots right up to examine the arrows and, on Wulf's prompting, and places an index finger upon each arrow. "Ta-daaa!" ...of course he's going to look mighty stupid if/when it does nothing, but it won't be the first time today.

Fwoosh, the door opens... partially. Two sides of the arrows try to seperate, and get jammed solidly, leaving only about an inch and a half clearance between as something grinds angrily a moment, then quiets.

"You might be rubbing away runes!" Jera hopes Rainer isn't silly two for two, though the door half opening surprises him. "Uhh...right. That's not air magic anyway...I can't recognize what they would mean."

"Hmm...." is all that escapes the jet black wolf's maw as he studies the wall. Moving towards it, he looks it over a few times before stilling himself. As the door partially opens, he looks to Rainer, an accepting look on his face. "Well, it would seem we now have to pry the door open..... any takers?" he ask, stating the obvious.

Wulf Hrumms before she grabs one side and begins to pull."I suggest two people pull it open, the other two enter and keep it open for the others and then head in."

"I am good." Rainer declares as the doors start to move, though some of that smugness fades when they soon grind to a halt. "Hey, keep going!" He huffs, and when Wulf begins to pull on one door he takes up position and starts heaving on the other. "Graaah... I got this--!"

With much complaint and bitter protest, the two halves of the door are slowly forced apart, more of that awful grinding sound with every inch as it is forced into compliance, leaving a narrow, but navigable, path through.

"ADVENTURE!" Jera yells as he charges headfirst into the opened passage, sneaking through tiny crevaces and trusting his armor to protect him from jagged rocks. "And plunder!"

Zero slips through the narrow passage when he has the chance, turning to hold one of the door halves open incase they decide to force themselves shut.

Wulf grunts as the door opens, the girl 's muscles bulging visibly under her fur. When the smaller two people are in she dashes inside, grabbing Rainer and pulling him in with a tug. "Cmon bud, lets get in there!"

A bright field of force suddenly snaps into place, giving Jera something hard to collide with as a soft voice begins reciting a long mathematical sounding series of numbers and calculations.

Rainer looks to Wulf with clenched teeth, breathing heavy from exertion. He squeaks as she latches on and drags him in behind her, echoing Jera's cry of "Adventure!" ...and coming to a quick halt as they're obstructed by... "Siiiigh... Adventuring Rule #19: Divine Math causes more trouble than it fixes~"

Wulf blanches, managing to keep from chargin into the feild as well "Dagnabit all... a Scholar of some kind would be most helpful." releasing Rainer she steps up and kicks a nerby object at the feild, not entirely trusting of it at the moment. "Hmmm....."

Zero turns to see a glowing light in fromt of them, making him bare his teeth. As Rainer comments, Zero replies, "You know Rainer, for once we seem to be in agreement."

"OW!" Jera's enthusiasm is knocked along with him to the ground by the barrier. He tries to listen to the math and see if he happens to know a counter...however unlikely. He does bash his hand repeatedly againdt the barrier meanwhile.

It dones on and on, and it seems Jera just isn't quite catching it until, like a flash from the Creators above, it comes to them. The voice is asking for the solution to a particular puzzle to prove they're supposed to be there.

Zero sits down and lets the magic users work their...... magic I guess. Looking around, he finds a pebble and toys with it for a few seconds before tossing it back towards the way they came.

"It's a puzzle. We need to figure out the solution..." Jera mumbles as he tries to piece the solution, though he's missed a good half of this repeat and has to wait for the next loop. "I'll translate when I can..."

The math equation is a classic, taught to many magic students who wish to progress on to being masters instead of journeymen. As the voice begins repeating it again, the answer spills out without even thinking about it, now that Jera knows what it's saying. The wall flickers spastically, but does not fade, even as the voice thanks Jera and welcomes them.

"Best of luck to you, then~" Rainer chirps, having nothing to contribute where it comes to math. He eyes the passage back the way they came, just to be sure nothing's sneaking up or that the doors aren't closing behind them. He turns back when Jera simply blurts out the answer, raising eyebrows. "There, that wasn't so hard... apparently."

Wulf nods and steps foreward and tries making it through the feild, being the first to enter the hallway past them. "Well good job Jera."

"Done!" Jera laughs as he follows behind Wulf. "Simple math!"

Ah, pain! Touching the field while it flickers sets a bit of Rainer's clothes immediately on fire, while the smell of cooking canine greets the nose, sending him back where he came to reconsider the course of action.

Wulf jumps back and immdiately starts to pat the clothing that managed to get lit on fire. "Ow! All right Jera your turn, maybe you won't get cooked." she is left muttering about needing another shower after this.

"Oh god..." Jera turns back and watches Rainer burn with affixed horror. "You know, the field flickers in a simple enough pattern...it'll be off right about...NOW!" He tumbles through the field in an unnecessary combat roll right as the field flickers back to life. "Nothing to it!" He boasts, then realizes his tail is on fire and tries to wag it out in panic.

Rainer stares on as both Wulf and Jera get treated to a healthy dose of immolation. "Can't you... can't you turn that thing off?"

Zero watches the new events unfold. After Jera makes the leap, he shrugs and watches the pattern to see if he can see what Jera saw.

The field flickers dangerously, but Jera manages to get through it while it's off, proving that it is safe while between flickers.

Wulf manages to get herself put out and reaches around to put her tail into her belt to keep it from getting burned. Stepping foreward she lets out a few calm breaths, waiting for the opritune moment before stepping though as the field starts to shut off. "Creators protect me..."

"HyaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" That... is the sound of Rainer charging, coming up right behind Wulf as she starts to make her crossing... to tackle her the rest of the way through. And if he can get an arm around Zero and drag him through too, bonus!

Zero starts to move towards the barrier when Rainer comes bowling down towards them. Waving his hands to stop, Zero fears it to be to late to stop the other wolf in time.

The entire group tumbles through the flickering field. Owie! The field catches a few toes in brilliant heat, but a quick jerk of the leg and that stops, leaving everyone on the other side, largely intact!

Wulf roars in the pain of hitting the ground. "Daggnabit Rainer!!!" A free hand thumps his back a few times with her open palm. "I was going to get through!!" moving herself out from under the pile she stands up and dusts off, her lantern thankfully intact.

"Ow ow ow!" Rainer flails about on his belly with every smack from Wulf. Following her to his feet, he dusts himself off and straightens the collar of his cloak, huffing. "...That's gratitude."

Wulf grumbles "No that's annoyance...":

Zero growls as he stumbles and squirms to remove himself from the tangled mess that is Rainer, Wulf and himself. After a few agonizing seconds he shifts to his feet. Glaring at Rainer, his hand twitches as it slowly moves towards his swords as he scolds Rainer. "What are you trying to do? Get us KILLED?!"

"I can't turn it off. I'm barely good enough with Air Magic to understand it, much less counterspell..." Jera moves between Zero to ward off aggression. "Hold it. Come on, man, not cool."

Zero looks Jera in the eye for a while. Finaly, he scofs and moves his hand away from his sword saying, "You've got a point. He got us through twice now, even if on accident. Besides, killing him doesn't solve anything."

Wulf looks about ready to smack both Rainer and Zero, Rainer for his foolishness and Zero for his agressin, hell hath no fury than a woman. Looking at Jera she nods. "All right boy's can we get a move on, my patience is wearing thin."

Rainer clears his throat and scratches his forehead, grinning impishly somewhere under that hood. "I would make a dashingly handsome corpse, though, you do have to conceed that much." He swings an arm and points ahead, repeating that battlecry of "Adventure!" and starting off.

As Zero fall to the back of the group he mutter to himself, "Hmm, ....... be ......... don't have ........"

"You would, Rainer." It's Jera's turn to mimic Rainer's enthusiasm, though his bows are out and loaded now as he steps up the caution a little bit.

Wulf ignores the mumbles as she takes up the very rear of the group, so she can keep an eye on all the boys as they head foreward, frowning at the mumbling. "Calm down boy you only have ta worry about his shenanigans a while longer I think."

Proceeding further into the ruins, they come across a small room with many chairs, and a curious looking pedestal in the center. One of the walls is stark white, unlike the rest, devoid of all markings.

Jera cheers at the chairs and flops onto one to grab a momentary rest, his mind currently as blank as the walls as he mumbles to himself, letting the rest of the group investigate while he rests.

Wulf slips up from the rear quickly having to slip by Zero and Rainer as she does, once in the room she heads straight to the white wall and looks at it. "i wonder what this is... it's odd to have one completely white wall in a room..."

Rainer wanders the room aimlessly, hands on his hips. "Well I think the solution is rather obvious." he declares, and proceeds straight to the pedestal to... touch it a bunch. Poke poke poke poke poke. Hey, it's worked for him so far.

The Creators clearly expected people to poke things, a lot. With sufficient pokes, the pedestal hums softly to life, and an image appears on the white wall. A voice speaks in strange old tongue as the being, a male and a female, wave at those present.

Zero, being the last one into the room, sees the area and looks around with mild interest. Watching Rainer prod thing without care, he sighs and moves to an unoccupied chair to sit down in.

Wulf jumps back, her shadow appearing on the wall "Good creators it's a moving painting... I think" moving out of the way she moves over to a corner and looks over at the wall. "Wonder what they are saying...":

"Never a priest around when you need one." Rainer murmurs, settling into a chair to watch the moving painting, crossing one leg over the other and steepling his fingers.

Jera groans. "If you speak in math I will deface the wall." Still, his twitching ears denote his interest in what they have to say.

No math, clearly talking about something more mundane than that, but mundane to who is anyone's guess. They gesture at each other, and the group. One extends a hand, and a strange glyph appears above it as he speaks.

Wulf seems to be staring with an intense focus, she's not likely to leave this room in a while.

Zero blinks and turns his attention to the figures on the wall. As the one holds up his palm and the symbol appears, Zero's eyebrow raises in question.

Jera looks at Rainer and points at the glyph. "Poke it, Rainer. Poke it. Magic touch you have." To be honest, he just wants to laze around for now and leave danger to the happy-go-lucky.

Rainer tilts his head to one side then the other, looks to the others. Shrugging at Jera's suggestion, he hops up out of his seat and approaches the outstretched arms. Palms rub together, he licks his lips with a look of concentration and... reaches out, seeing if he can't somehow take the thing right out of their hands.

Look, a rainbow, and the two beings are gone. The glyph is much larger on the flat wall, with the rainbow over it as a voice speaks something that sounds like 'it's good!', if it wasn't for that old timey garbledness making it hard to understand.

"I made a rainbow." Rainer announces to the room, tilting his head to regard Zero and Jera... just in case they somehow missed it.

Zero gives a polite chuckle and replies, "Saw that. Good going Rainer."

"Saw." Jera mimics and giggles almost girlishly as he continues to study the glyph.

Suddenly busting through the pristing white wall, three monstrosities, looking something like beings, though with knotted joints, clouded eyes, and vacant stares. They lurch towards the group with nothing friendly in mind.

"Yow!" Rainer falls back on his tush as the wall bursts right there in front of him, barely scrambling to his feet and drawing his weapons before the monsters come down upon him. One heated battle later... "...didn't see that coming."

Zero jumps up as the fiends burst through the wall, drawing his Fang. Letting out a howl he charges the intruders. After the enemy falls, he calmly wipes any ichor off his weapons before resheathing them.

Jera was shooting from his chair and his lazy bottom as he stayed mostly unharmed. "Everyone alright?"

Just as the group begins to recover from the first group, a fourth figure lumbers from the darkness, larger than the others, and no more friendly.

Zero flicks his blade before resheathing it. Turning to Rainer, he ask if the other wolf's ok.

Rainer doesn't look okay. He looks ... hairless. Completely, utterly hairless. It seems somehow, in all that struggle, his cloak got torn apart. He just kind of... stands there, with only his pants remaining, very ... pink, and flushed with embarassment.

A well placed shot from his crossbow ends the second battle, Jera actualky needing to get up to dodge a couple of blows. He immediately starts to reload.

Fortunately, for the moment, no new creatures emerge from the broken wall, but no images display anymore, just a shaft of light coming from the pedestal into that dark.

Zero notices Rainers condition and visibly struggles to keep from laughing. Finaly unable to endure it any longer, howling laughter fills the area as Zero rolls on the floor, tears streaming down his face.

Jera is nice! He's only half-laughing at Rainer.

Rainer takes a deep breath, letting it out as a sigh as he starts rubbing the back of his neck, eyeballing the other two with knitted brows. "I, uh..." He gesticulates helplessly, and finally just starts following the beam of light into the darkness, head low between his shoulders. "...yeah."

The darkness is predictably dim for short way until it emerges into a fresh hallway. How deep do these halls go? How wide is this network of tunnels? A soft nagging feeling of getting potentially lost forever in these winding paths begins to build.

Zero evenutally picks himself off the floor. Wiping the tears from his eyes, he walks with the crestfallen wolf, patting him on the shoulder. "Mate, not all of us are born equally." is all he says.

"It's not like that!" Rainer blurts out, then sighs again, rubbing his eyes. "I'll, uh, explain later." He suddenly pauses and turns around, knitting brows. How long had they been wandering this hall? It's all starting to look the same to him. "Ugh, we should have been drawing a map as we went."

Zero

Zero raises a finger to protest, but then lowers it. "Ya know, you've gotta good point there Rainer. .....Maybe we should head back to where the white wall was."

It's a straight shot back to the room, noticable for its smashed white wall, and that odd light spewing pedestal, though it is no longer shining light. Perhaps whatever it was showing is done.
