The maritime district is abuzz with loud singing, dancing, shouts and laughter. Sailors are downing beers left and right, clanking their glasses together, a few of them sitting around to root on an old sailor singing a good shanty. "Oh~ She wore my shoes to the bare old bottums, she knew every stain, and how she gotum, but alas, I knowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww~" he crys before he topples backwards and the group erupts into laughter, helping the poor folk up. "She were the prettiest deck I ever saw~ I knew her well..." he sings, droning on after his rising. A group of women and men folk are all gathered together doing fast paced dances, and just behind them iti looks like a few kids are taking a crack at some watery fun, games have been set up across the docks.

Angus could hear the singing and shouting from a long ways off, and he chuckled as he picked up the song. Walking into the district he manages to get there as soon as the singer manages to fall over, and he starts to clap. "Not a bad song!" He smiled as he walked up to the singer.

Rainer is right there amongst the crowd, clapping and stomping a foot to the beat of the shanty the tipsy old sea dog is belting out, so much as he keeps to any sort of regular rhythm, at least. "Oooiiiiiiii, Anguuuuuus!" The familiar fox approaching the performer does not go unnoticed by he, and the wolf waves a hand high over his head. He's in the middle of a sea of bodies, however, and his efforts to worm closer are considerably hampered.

David walks into the district from the mange square, looking to have just delivered some food, he blinks at the party and tilts his head, "Wonder what the occasion is?" he smiles as he approaches and looks around at all the sea folk

Cedric had been wandering for a little bit through the district, taking in the sights. He thought it might be best to take a day off from accepting combat jobs and was spending his day off exploring Firmament. With the large crowd gathered around the performance, it would seem he'd picked a fine day for it! The badger wanders over to the crowd to listen, standing at the edge with his own instrument tucked safely under his arm.

The aroma of salt is heavy here, it's like these folks bathed in it, or perhaps used some water magics to dry themselves off but not remove the substance itself. Many of the sailors around him are joining along as the song progresses, a crowd-wide chorus slowly rising. "...and theh prettiest ship she be. I'll take her from sea to shining sea, away oh away oh a sailors life is free! Away oh, away oh, and the prettiest ship she be." The crowd is rather loud, not all on key but they seem to be having a splendid time, the occasional folk pausing for a drink and some laughter amongst peers. One rat girl catches eye of Cedric during their singing, nudging the instrument weilding folk before she says "Do you want to give us a song then?" Angus is given a smile as the song progresses, and the folks around Rainer are quick to part way so they can be seen. A child dances along the semi-clean bird stain, having won a prize they smile and giggle, hoisting up their haul of candies.

David is given a laugh and a nudge, a stork putting an arm around them. "Don't you know? It's a party! We don't need a reason to have a good time once in a while, don't you think they deserve it?"

Angus rolls his eyes and chuckles as the singing starts back up. "Hey Rainer!" He calls back as he turned to the wolf, and started to shoulder his way through the crowd. "This is an intresting party!" He shouts as he tries to be heard over the crowd as he nears Rainer.

"Sea folk are the best folk!" the wolf barks back, giving the gracious folk making room for him appreciative nods of his head. At last Rainer unites with the todd, swinging a big ol' hand to slap Angus on the back. "You should totally get up there and show these salts how a Solacious does a jig~"

David hmms? at the stork and chuckles, "I suppose not... I guess I just think of parties to usually have an occasion." he shrugs and smiles, spotting Angus in the crowd he chuckles and waves to the noble, then to Rainer when he spots them too

"Oh... er... well, I can't sing or nothin', but I could play, I suppose." the lightly dressed badger answers to the rat girl with a hesitant nod. Looking around at the crowd, one thing is made pretty obvious to him... being 'gifted' doesn't preclude stage fright.

The folks push beers at those without them, fresh ones being handed out to whoever doesn't have a glass. The singing dies off eventually and the crowd breaks up into sections, a few head off to dance, a few, to continue drinking. A select few try their hands at games, one folk trying to dunk another into a tub of water.

The rat looks dissapointed but nods, laughing to her friend as she wanders off.

Angus stumbles as he is slapped on the back, and he frowns lightly as he grabs Rainer and noogies him. "Nah, I'm not good enough to contend with these people." He chuckles, holding Rainer in a headlock, as he watches the crowd disappear. "so...want to get a drink, or go check out the games?"

Rainer grunts as he's swept up by the fox, face contorting and arms flailing about helpless against the knuckles rubbing against his scalp. "Kyah!" Once Angus has let up, he latches onto the arm still 'round his neck with both hands, grumbling, though there's a playful grin on his face. "Nah, the kind of beer these folks enjoy puts me right under the table. I think that guy's trying to get your attention, by the way." He points, with a pinky finger, in David's general direction.

David smiles at the beer and chuckles as he accepts one, "Thanks!" he takes a drink as he walks over to Angus and Rainer, "Hey you two." he chuckles at Rainer's position and looks at Angus curiously, "It's pretty good." he smiles as he takes a drink of the beer

Cedric is a little bit mystified as the rat girl wanders off with a disappointed look after he'd agreed to play. He could play, but he's not really that great at singing. Well, it gets him off the hook, anyway. A nice refreshing beer is foisted off onto him, and he accepts it gratefully, taking a giant swig from it almost immediately. He could certainly use a good drink in this crowd.

The group is given their drinks, willing or not they are left with a glass at least, as being walk by and chatter and mingle. A little seahorse girl moves ini on Rainer, smiling and motioning for their hand. The rat from before returns with three similar looking rats and sits by Cedric, and nearby another winner raises a bag of candy into the air. The rose walkway sparkles as the sun begins to set, the orange cast down upon the partiers who gleefully raise their now sparkling ale.

Angus blinks as a drink appears in his hand, and he shrugs before he takes a swig. "Wait...you, actually get drunk that fast? Ya right." He smiles, as he lets Rainer go and nods to David. "Afternoon there David, how have you been?" He asks, tails flicking behind him as he watches the crowd with a smile.

"So what if I do! ...Um, hey there." Rainer bats his eyes at the little girl pouring the little girl charm on him. The distraction is enough that he remains hunched forward for a bit even after Angus has released him, and he only finally straightens up as he gives his hand to the child, using the other to rub his neck.

David chuckles at Angus and smiles, "Oh, I've been good. Yourself?" he smiles at the girl, "Hello there." before looking to Rainer with a chuckle, "And how are you? I'm not sure I got your name when we met?"

Cedric guesses that the rodent girl just went to go get her friends and seems a little bit less confused. The badger takes a seat on the ground, looking around quietly as the walkway starts to sparkle and appreciating the dusk. Best part of the the day, to him. He sets his drink down carefully on his right and the instrument, a mandolin harp or zither, is taken carefully from its place held under his arm and set down in front of him. Without waiting for any prompting on the part of the rat girl or her friends, he puts his claws to the strings of the intrument, plucking and tapping at them carefully and trying to improvise a nice, relaxing song to fit the mood of the sunset. Something a little slower, but positive; not too gloomy. Hopefully it's not too awful!

The song captivates the water clan lasses, who smiles, one staring dreamily at Cedric. "That's so beautiful!" she squeaks with joy as she leans into one of her sisters shoulders to watch the performance. The little girl takes the music as a cue to start slow dancing with Rainer, smiling happily as she takes a slow deliberate lead. "It's okay I dance all the time, I can show you!" she says happily. The sunset casts minimal shadows as it dances across folks bodies, making them a bright red as it lives it's final moments.

Angus shrugs at David. "Been decent really, but I can't really complain." When Cedric starts up he smiles, and turns the the Badger. "Hey, your rather good at that." He comments, sipping at his drink as he trys not to make fun of Rainer as he's dragged off to dance.

Rainer makes a face, but he does his utmost not to let show that he's feeling rather silly as he's lead in the dance by the child. "It's Rainer." he comments aside to David, his eyes largely focused on ensuring he doesn't step on the poor kid's feet. "You're, uh, pretty good at this!" He totally didn't just steal that compliment from overhearing Angus talking to Cedric. Totally.

David nods to Angus as he takes a drink and chuckles at Rainer, "That's good." he watches Rainer a bit and hmms, "David Matthews, growing clan." the otter smiles as he watches while listening to the music

Cedric continues playing, nodding in response to the compliments. If the sunset weren't casting its flaming color on him, somebody might even be able to detect a little bit of blushing at the skin beneath his white spots of fur. Small miracles. Even if he knows its more the knowledge from the soul gem than his own natural talent, he thinks it would be too standoffish, even for him, to dismiss the compliments by saying something like that. "Ah... thank you." the badger says quietly in reply to the compliments from the fox and wolf, still working the strings of the fretless zither between his claws, producing a simple melody that could be described as 'twangy yet soothing'. His playing seems to be pretty consistant, and he hasn't made any horrible mistakes yet. His playing certainly isn't loud or annoying enough to anyone to complain, but who knows?

The girls swoon over Cedric, the ocean growing dim. Torchlights come on, the smell of salt still in the air as many folks pack it in, but some still party stron. The infectious good mood can still be found in the air, the laughter, the clanks, the cheers, and the singing all manage to penetrate the impending darkness with force. One girls tail sways in rhythm to the music, as the sea-horse girl giggles and accepts the complement, leaning up to try and give Rainer a kiss on the cheek, almost insistant. "Come here!" she says with ha smile. One last child riases a bag of candy over his head as he proves his strength and skill, one of his balls managing not to fall into the ocean.

Angus chuckles at David, and winks at him as well, Cedric's music making him tap his foot. "Lets see if I can find a dance partner." He jokes, before he walks up the the girl. "Excuse me, would you like to dance." He asked with a grin, his tails flicking behind him as he chuckles.

Rainer turns his head this way and that, briefly, doing a quick search of the crowd for any signs of this kid's family... and shooting a look Angus' way, in case the fox is still taking amusement at his predicament. But the todd has found entertainment elsewhere, so at last he relents to letting the seahorse plant one on his cheek, eyeballing her while she does. "You ever need a dance partner again, you know who to look for~"

David chuckles at the girls and smiles as he looks around, he chuckles at the noble and shrugs, "Have fun." he chuckles as he watches Rainer and the girl, before looking to Cedric curiously

Cedric seems almost entirely oblivious to the swooning of the rat girls for some very unknown reason. He just doesn't seem to be relishing in it as most young, male beings would. Perhaps he's just naturally oblivious to that sort of thing. He keeps playing his mandolin harp with the same constant level of skill, growing more confident and adding in trickier arpeggios to add a little more flair to the tune. The badger opens his eyes and looks up at the assembled and gives the otter a friendly smile.

THe girl hops up and kisses Rainers cheek, running off whhen shes done. "Of course!" sheh says as she scurries off. The girls are all sitting close together whispering and giggling, smiiling and laughing. "YOu're really good!" they say, clapping and cheering.

One of the girls puts a hand to her chest and says "Who me?" as she's addressed by the noble. "I don't think dancing by moonlight is my thing..." she says hesitatntly.

Angus nods lightly with a smile. "If that is your wish, then I won't force you. But you do look like you need a dance." He teases with a wink, his tails flicking behind him lightly as he holds himself at that half-bow, his hand partially extended towards the girl.

Rainer's hands go to his hips and he arches his back with a cracklepopping of joints, watching his former dance partner run off. "Cute kid." the wolf remarks to ... nobody, then casting his gaze out to find Angus and David haven't wandered far. "Hey, gonna go have a look at those games!" he calls in their direction, and off he sets!

David looks at Angus and smiles as he watches him, then Rainer says something about games and he grins, "I'll go with you, sounds fun." he chuckles as he follows after, taking a last drink of his beer

Cedric keeps playing but seems to have lost a little focus, and it's obvious in the quality of the melody. Well, he's hit the high point so he might as well start winding this down for now. There's still a lot to do tonight. After a little while his playing comes to a natural stop, reverberating one final note as he pulls his fingers away from the strings and flexes them to try and ease the soreness from playing. His hand reaches for his glass of sparkling ale and he lifts it to his lips to take a large drink and look towards the rat sisters. "Thanks for listening... I hope you enjoyed it." he says to them, not bothering with any false modesty here. He does appreciate that he did surprisingly well.

The two find that the last of the games is closing up! She gives an appplogetic look and shakes her head. "Maybe next time, I've got to get home to my family folks." the woman says, stretching before lugging her stuff off. THe rodents nod and smile, squeaking "Yes it was beautiful!" "You're very talented!" "Umm... maybe we could... nevermind!" As they all gather themseles and run off. The day is winding down, the maritime district clearing.

Angus chuckles as the girls run off, and he looks to Cedric. "That was some rather nice music there Cedric, I didn't know you could play." He had some musical talent himself, but he hadn't played in so long he was probably rusty. "Want to go see what the other two are doing?" He tilts his head in the direction that Rainer and David had run towards, and smiled.

Rainer puts up his hands in a shrug. "Them's the breaks." He turns to David, drawing in a deep breath as he looks the otter up and down, ending in another shrug.

David awws at the stall owner and nods, "Alright, I'll have to see about next time." he smiles and waves before chuckling at Rainer with a shrug, "Well, so much for that."

"Sure, sounds good..." the badger says, stowing away his instrument inside of his pack before positioning it on his back. Cedric can't help but wonder what the rat sisters were about to say. He supposes it couldn't have been too important. "Hmm... well, honestly... I don't think I could have played, not barely a week ago." he admits as he grabs his drink by the rim carefully and rises to his feet. He begins to follow Angus in the direction indicated.

As the party fades everyone finds their way to their homes and jobs, ready to start the next day with the tale of this eventful night
