The barracks have been altered a bit, the main training floor cleared into four makeshift arenas seperated by planks of wood marking the boundaries. Amongst them stand two felines and two toads, all at least slightly buldging with muscles. In one arena in the corner, one of the toads is going at it with a member of the cty guard. The guard gives a great upward swing with his war hammer but is back-stepped, and then socked right in the jaw. The toad limbers up and starts to dance around the disoriented guard, who comes wide with a pivoting swing, connecting and knocking the toad off balance as he attempts to perform a roundhouse kick. The toad wastes no time in sweeping the legs of the guard and rolling them over, working to pin them. They struggle valiantly and this is met with a light blow to the head, before the toad gets tired of it all and pushes him out of the ring. "Ring out!" Calls a small clanned rabbit, who moves to prod the victor. "Good going champ." The crowd gathered presents mixed boos and cheers.
The toad laughs and raises his hands. "See! Not even a need for my namesakes!" he says gesturing to a few hammers strapped to his body."
Cedric had heard the call for brawlers, though he was undecided about participating. Maybe it would be a good opportunity to test out his skills, unsure as he was about them. The badger stood by patiently, watching the match between the guardsman and the toad with an expression of interest. This could be a lot of fun.
Angus had heard the call as well, and was only here to watch at the moment. As he was still uncertain about joining in, with a chuckle he claps for the two combatants and smiled, making a mental note to have a talk to the guardsman later about his performance. "Not bad!" He commented, turning to give Cedric a grin.
A short form slips into the barracks and glances around. It's wearing a heavy cloak, keeping the figure hidden entirely from view, save for a faint glow coming from under the hood. After the end of the fight the hood shakes, the figure shaking it's head, and a gloved, pink fingered paw reaches up to undo the clasp on it's cloak, letting it fall to show a short, pink 'coon, who some would recognize as Arimia. Though she has a crudely wrapped smoke of some sort hanging from the side of her muzzle. She walks over to the small clanned rabbit and asks, "Who'd you have signed up next? An' where do I sign up?"
The group of four meet up and laugh, nodding as they talk amongst themselves before two step out, one feline and one toad. "Alright that was good but you all have to have better than that, that was pitiful." The rabbit smiles at Arimia, quickly saying "Well! A fiesty small clanner?" as he looks their size over, quirking a brow and nodding. "Well you can sign up right now, they're looking for more challengers. We would run up to four at once but there aren't always that many fighters in here." He moves to grab some paper and offer it to the raccoon. "Here you go, and you can pick which one you fight. The big green guy there is Gert, the smaller toad is Ray, that bundle of ashy fur over there is is Terry, watch him he might fight dirty, and then his brother there is Curt."
"Not bad at all." the graceful clan Badger replied to Angus, giving a grin of his own in return, even despite the very unpleasant headache he'd been nursing all day. Still trying to make up his mind about signing up for a match, almost positive that he'd just embarass himself trying to use his spear nonletally. Then again, he did buy that hammer just last night. Maybe that would make a good blunt weapon? He'd seen Angus in battle before, surely this sort of thing would be his province? "So, you participating or just spectating?" he inquires curiously of the fox.
Angus stiffened as soon as the pink hand went up. "Oh...that's just grand." He muttered to himself with a sigh, things were just about to get more complicated it seems. Yes he was a skilled fighter, but to be honest. He was not a fan of nonlethal combat for sport. Cedric had caught the fox flat footed as he was in the middle of turning around to leave, and he just blinked at the Badger. "I...I guess I'll participate then." He responded a little reluctantly, not wanting to leave the badger alone. Especially with a certain pink coon in the room...
Arimia gives a small grin at the rabbit's addressing of her and takes the paper, filling it out. "I ain't a small clanner," she says, and when she passes back the the paper it's signed 'Arimia, Apostate.' She looks up at the four and looks about to speak, until the sight of Angus, and his unknown companion, which prompts her to change what she was about to say. "An' I'll get back to you on who." She turns and walks over to the fox, rather blatantly ignoring the badger for a moment, "Brat. You fightin'? They do group fights. If we can find two more we can take 'em all on."
The racoon is given an odd look as the paper is filled out and nods slowly. He waits for her return to select her challenger, the group looking her over and sizing her small form up. They look at the fox, the larger of the two toads giving him a thumbs down, pointing straight at him with the other hand.
Cedric nods in response to the fox's delcaration of intent to participate. He figured if someone he was at least -sort of- acquainted with was signing up, then he might as well. He looked towards Arimia at her approach. He'd never met the demure 'coon before, and wasn't familiar with whatever it was about her that caused Angus to hesitate. Of course, he was a little oblivious to the hesitation to begin with. Without waiting to be personally addressed, the badger speaks up, "I'll fight. I could use the practice, prob'ly." he says, leaving himself completely vulnerable to potential mockery!
Angus rolled his eyes at the Brat comment from Arimia. "And what makes you think I'll help y-..." Through his comment he had been smiling at Arimia, but the Toad's gesture caught his attention. "...Sign me up." He answered, that smile now pointed at the Toad, to be honest that brat comment hadn't sat well with the fox, and now he had a target to direct his displeasure at. In return for the gesture he gave one back, in the form of a thumbs up, before it shifted into a rather rude gesture.
Arimia nods her head at Agnus, then glances at Cedric. She looks him over, then gives a scowl and a sigh. She nods her head and gestures for the two to follow her before turning back and walking over to the small clan rabbit. "We got three. Think one of 'em is willin' to leave the little group of lovebirds, or are we gonna have to take all of 'em on?"
The larger toad grits his teeth and grins, laughing. "Alright squirt." he calls out, getting a few more jeers from the crowd. The rabbit looks the three over and passes the sheet to Angus, and when he is done will pass it to Cedric. "Sign up please, I don't see that being a problem. Let us adjust the ring after you sign up. Rules are simple, ring out, attempt to use lethal force, success or fail, attempt at serious injury, success or fail, admitting defeat, a lack of will to fight, or clocking out and taking a little nap will disqualify you from victory. If all three of you fight at once, as one is taken down the fight will be halted and reset, so any losses may be removed from the arena before it continues. All this sound good? If so, please select your three opponents."
Cedric follows Arimia towards the small clan rabbit, standing idly by as she speaks with him. He looks over the opponents, quietly sizing them up. He'll leave this decision to the others, he thinks. He's not really sure he'd have a choice in the matter anyway. Instead, he asks of the rabbit, "And mathemagic? That alright as long as it's not lethal?".
