At the pre-assigned meeting place, a tower out in the middle of the woods, stands a robed figure who is speaking and gesturing at a rather round beaver. "So why am I needed, to escort this magical genius out of his abode and to the city?" the robed figure asks, their tone implying their lack of interest in being here. The beaver remains silent, looking back to the tower once or twice, a stoic manner about them as they await more arrivals. The wind blows by, only occasionally broken by irritated sounds from the less robust of the two.

Ictus saunters up the path to the tower and nods to the two that are already here, "Hello, you called for escorts?" he looks around curiously as he waits for the others to arrive

Lidiya pot

Daniel had heard of this as he usually does, listening around on the streets. While he found this method as shadey, it certainly helped him learn about some pretty important things, so he really couldn't complain. He arrives just a few paces behind Ictus, glancing around and bowing politely to the group already formed. "Good day."

Lidiya walks up with a pole slung over her shoulders, a long pair of chains and spiked balls at the end hanging from one side. As they swing, they occasionally clink against her armor, which is the source of the only noise she makes. Stopping before the gathered folk, she tilts her head and waves.

The beaver looks to the approaching folks and offers a polite bow, ignoring the huff from the robed figure, and gestures to the tower. "Ah yes hello. This seems enough. As you probably know you are here to retrieve Bartril Trux, and escort him safely to firmament. We would normally wait patiently for his arrival, as he is a busy and bright mind, but it has been a month since our request for a meeting was sent out, and... lately there has been more interest than ours in the individual. Some ah... unruley sorts. If you don't mind, would you scale the interesting tower behind me and retrieve our genius for escort?" The robed figure adjusts their robe, sighing and saying "I see, you may leave this matter to me, I see no need for all of these... kind folk... to have to aid in this matter."

Daniel glances up at the tower as the beaver speaks of it, wondering why anyone would live in one. It must be awfully difficult getting out of that thing, no wonder he needs help. With the beaver's gestures however, a bead of nervous sweat breaks as his face takes on a somewhat more nervous one. "Oh... um. Yeah, it's why I'm here, I'm not one to leave anyone without help, so I'll be tagging along with. Um... him?" He motions slightly towards the robed figure, not entirely sure what to identify them as.

Lidiya leans against her polearm and watches the flail swing a few times. Then she gets a lazy look about her and watches the three figures from behind her mask. Adjusting her weight against the haft, she then looks up the tower and shrugs

The beaver says "Great!" in as chipper a manner as he can, seemingly happy not to be going up into the tower at all. He steps away from the door and waves for the folks to go on inside. "I'll wait out here and make sure no unruley types head on inside." The robed figure groans and looks at Lidiya then fixes his eyes on Daniel. "Fine, I could use an assistant." he remarks as he enters the barely lit doorway. He stands inside looking around for a few seconds, his species becoming more visible as the hawks hood falls backwards, the face it once covered slightly twisted in a mix of disgust and interest.

Daniel lets his observent little eyes peer around, taking in all the details he could. In his journey from his hometown for Firament, he'd faced many trials, and knew that taking in the scenery could help quite a bit with several things. But as he stepped in passed the rather unnerving doorway, he found that it was rather... dark. He wouldn't be able to see much like this, he needed a light source of sorts. With a little focus, he summons a flame to help light the way. Gosh, this could be taxing, he needed to keep his focus.

Lidiya looks at the figure quietly for a moment as she passes, maybe contemplating on dragging him along just in case. Instead, she slips into the tower proper, leaving the tall flail by the door, propped in a way to keep the door wedged open while reaching for a smaller hammer on her belt. She ignores the walls for no other than a quick, initial look.

The beaver makes a few gestures and gives a look that suggests he won't be going anywhere near the inside. The hawk looks back to Daniel and grins. "Oh, a mage. I think we'll get along just fine if you're open minded..." he says as he shifts his gaze from the walls and to the room in front of them. At the end of the room are some stairs, which spiral up along the wall. All throughout the room are various trinkets laid out on tables, and surrounding the doorways are two suits of armor, posed as though they were martial artists. The hawk pays them no mind, causally pushing into the room, eying but not touching the tables. "It looks like we proceed upward." he says in passing, stopping to observe a curious clear hoop of glass with a spiraling liquid inside of it.

Daniel gives a bit of a nod, keeping his main focus on the flame dancing between his hands. He didn't need to burn himself, and he didn't need to accidentally put it out. "I see no reason to push away other people's ideals, they often help me in some way." A small gust of air from the door flickers the flame slightly, but he keeps his cool and manages to keep the flame burning as he follows after the hawk. "This place has... interesting decor. Not what I'd decorate my own room with but... still neat."

Lidiya looks at the posed armor. Stopping before it, she begins to mimic one of the poses, then shakes her head and shrugs before continuing on. She twirls her finger at the comment about liking the decor, finding it a bit trashy herself. Or tacky, maybe tacky was the right word. She slows down a bit as she thinks on it

The hawk glances at the two and shakes his head. He's not even positive Lidiya has spoken, but he does find her amusing. "It is... eccentric, but... I would rather something more tasteful." he says as he picks up a couple of the trinkets on the table. He examines them in great length, twisting and turning it in his hand. He does nothing to damage or activiate any of the mechanisms or math, before he sets them down. "Let us proceed upstairs, we have a job to accomplish."

He gestures the two onward and proceeds to climb the spiraling stairs in a swift manner.

Daniel nods at the hawk's words as he follows up the stairs. "I agree, we're supposed to be escorting someone, not taking him rug shopping." He shakes his head just a bit, hands still making sure to keep that flame safe and lit.

Lidiya jerks her thumb up as she heads towards the stairwell, keeping her fingers along one wall while she watches the others quietly. She doesn't comment on Daniel's jokse about rug shopping though

The walls are cold and firm to Lidiya's touch, the occasional rough patch breaking the smooth procession of fingers. "Rug shopping? Perhaps house shopping may be more appropriate, only a loner would wish to dwell so far from the city in a hard to access place." the hawk says as he proceeds up the stairs, waving the two after him. The decor doesn't improve much upstairs. Everything is etched in math, the stairway opening into a well furnished room. The ladder on the opposite wall apperas to be the way up and down from the next room and this. Seats and tables, tapestrys and murels, the walls are coated with fine works all etched with mathmatical symbols. The only ways through the room appear to be between a procession of lamps and a table, and along one wall skirting a tapestry.

Daniel gasps as he feels something rather off about the room, and his suspicions are confirmed as he feels his magic wither away! His flame extinguises, and he lets out a surprised squeak, "H-huh?! What gives...?" He attempts to resummon the flame, succeeding only to have it deminish to a weak flicker. "Candle light... lovely." He mutters in slight irritation.

Lidiya traces her fingers along the wall for a few moments longer while watching Daniel. She glances up, then back down to the others in the room, making her way over. She doesn't particularly feel like she's helping, but just in case...

"I'll see if I can catch up with them." Came Angus' reply to the beaver before he slips inside, and walks right into a room full suits of armor, and shiny trinkets. The trinkets looked odd and rather tantalizing to the fox as he leaned over the table, but he had a job to do. With a tap of his chin he shakes his head, and grips the hilt of his Rapier tighter. "No Angus." He mutters to himself. "Be curious later, right now you help bring back this...what's his name." Turning around he heads up the stairs, and when he finally catches up to everyone he blinks. "Oh hey Lidiya, Daniel, what are you guys up t-.....There is something off about this room.."

The hawk grumbles a bit as the room goes dark, trying to work out something of his own to no avail. "It's not working, there is clearly something more than off about this room." he says as he looks to the small flame that Daniel produced. He gives Angus a look over, as best he can in the dark, and says "I trust you're not a bandit? Well young assistant, I believe you should lead the way, as you have the light."

Daniel seems as though he has his flame in check. He nods to the hawk, and begins his way through the room, making note of the various math etchings and humming at them in a rather curious tone. "Hey Angus! Just... trying to guild people through the dark. It's a real pain in the-" Fwoof. His flame dies again. "Gah!" He shouts as he attempts to relight the flame, only to fail and produce sparks again and again. "Oh come ooonnnnnnnn..." He whines, peering around nervously through the dark.

Angus turns to the hawk at the mention of bandits, and his ears flick in irritation. "I assure you I am not a bandit, I am here to help you." Turning to Daniel he grins. "Hey Daniel! Long time no see, and ya it should be. I think something in this room is negating are math, or something." He shrugs, looking around as he waits for his eyes to adjust to the darkness.

The hawk cannot be seen visibly doing anything, but can be heard backing away as he bumps into something. "Watch it!" he says as something falls, hitting Daniel while they attempt to work. He sighs and shifts in place, moving back towards the stairs before he realizes there are no lights down there either. "This is a fine situation. I can't get anything to work. Shall we push forward anyhow? DOes anyone remember the layout of the room?"

Daniel lets out a pained squeak as a metalic object cracks him in the skull. He sits there dazed for a moment before he rubs his head, trying to focus on whatever the object was. ... It was definately metal whatever it was, and he tries to feel out it's shape with his paws. "From the quick glance I got, I did manage to see how bit it was, and where some of the larger furnishings were. I didn't get a good look though, so there might be some stumbling over smaller things, so watch your toes! ... Er... the best you can."

Angus flinches at the clatter, ears folding back as his hand instinctively reaches for his weapon. "Ouch, you okay?" He asks Daniel with a mutter. "Can't see a damn thing..." With a sigh he takes a step forward, his hand outstretched so he didn't run into anything. "There has to be a torch around her somewhere."

As Angus moves foward they bump their shin agaisnt something hard and sharp, and as they pull away from what feels like the corner of something they manage not to stumble and fall over the hawk who is now slowly pressing forward towards where he thinks the ladder is. Daniel can feel the length of a standing torch.

Daniel lets out a little cheer as he feels the length of a torch in his hands. "I think I found a torch we can use, it's a standing one though, so I might need some help hauling it along. Not exactly built for lifting things." He pouts a bit and tries to stand the torch up, huffing a bit but managing to set it upright. With that, he attempts to light it! ... Only to have his magic sputter into just a few sparks. The sound of him whining echos through the chamber.

"I have some flint that we can use to light it, give me a moment and I'll see if I can find you." Came Angus' reply as he turned towards the direction that he had just heard Daniel's voice from. "I should start carrying torches with me at this rate." The fox grumbled, already digging into a pouch to retrive his flint.

The fox finds and lights the lamp brilliantly, it's light casting over the room like the sun for a second as the hawk and others adjust to the light. The object almost stumbled over appears to be a small, metal box etched with math, and the path forward becomes very clear. The hawk says "Excellent, now let us get out of here before it goes out." as he proceeds to the ladder, opting to brush against a tapestry. The tapestry reacts to, or simply doesn't like this brushing, and air magic springs to life, casting him forward over a chair, leaving his robes to slide down his body as his face elevates lower than his torso. Downstairs the sound of rummaging can be heard, and voices grumbles below.

Daniel blinks a few times to get used to the light, his eyes having adjusted to the darkness for the moment. After a quick rub, he seems to have adjusted to the lights of the room, smiling just a bit. Sure, he'd have prefered to find it in a way that didn't give him a mild concussion, but that's just his luck. He chuckles silently at the hawk's misfortune, making a mental note to learn about air magic sometime, it might come in handy for escaping persuers. ... Were those voices he heard? "... Are those just the voices in my head again, or do you guys hear talking?"

Angus had heard the voices to. "Those aren't in your head Daniel...Can you try and help our friend there, and maybe check out that box as well." With a frown he walks over to the stairwell. "I'll see if I can listen in." He mutters, already working through a small equation to do just that, but when he releases it all he gets is a small gust that flutters his cloak. "Damn, looks like it's the hard way." With a sigh he starts to head down the stair, his hand tightly wrapped around the handle of his Rapier. Readny for any nasty suprises that might be lurking at the bottom.

The voices laugh a bit. "A lil sleeping powder every time. Guard this, soldier that. They all go down the same." Says a gruff voice, which suddenly cuts out and hushes the rest of the voices. Shortly after it stops the sounds of objects being moved stops, and a clunk is heard as a bag hits the floor. "Do you think he's comin down?" a voice says rather loudly. Another pops in with "I don't know, but he's going to help us with a little safe, and all will end well for him. Fan out, we'll finish this section later." With that movement can be heard downstairs, although soft, it sounds numerous. It is accompanyed by a rather startled gasp and the clanking of metal. "They're alive!" a voice shouts before another chimes in with "Just leave the bags, they're coming right for them. Upstairs, we have bigger things to deal with." Meanwhile, upstairs the hawk is righting himself and grumbling, looking at the other two for a moment. "Voices?" he says meekly, muttering something about being early for a party. "Let us go upstairs, my magic will not work here." he says as he makes for the ladder, not wasting any time in moving up towards the ladder, setting off this and that as he passes.

Daniel quirks his brow, "Well I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who hears them... maybe I'm not crazy after all." He rubs the back of his neck, trying to listen in on the sound of the voices but not wanting to get any closer to the stairs lest they come up, instead starting towards the ladder as well and scrambling up.

Angus frowns as he hears the exchange of voices, whoever these beings were they were not friendly. When the suits of armor that they had passed without a problem began to come to life and send the owners of those voices towards the stairs, he draws his Rapier and parrying blade. Turning he yells up the stairs. "We've got trouble, atleast Four!" Satisfied that he had given Daniel and the hawk a possible warning he turns back around, ready to meet whoever walks up those stairs.

The hawk and the rodent make it up the ladder without a hitch, proceeding into a dark room which absolutely reaks. The hawk gags and calls down the ladder "Come up here! We can't aid you there, it will be easier to fight from the top of a ladder." On the stairs, up rushes one fairly well built bull, carrying a moderately effective shield and an axe. "Out of the way!" he says as he proceeds upwards, stopping just short of the foxes reach while his allies pull out their weaponry. Thwap! A crossbow bolt skims the toe of Angus's boot, causing the firer to curse as they reload. Afterwards there is a flash as a musket is produced and fired at Angus, who narrowly avoids a pained leg.

Daniel covers the lower half of his face with the sash tied around his neck, happy the smell didn't bleed through the pleasant smell of Fuyu's perfume. "Blech, feel free to cover your nose with the scarf tails, strawberry scented perfume is honestly much better than... this." The sound of musket fire causes the mouse to jump with a squeak, that scared the pants off of him! "Angus! Hurry up and get up here, I don't think you need any extra holes!"

Angus was not happy when his boot nearly took a bolt, and he was angrier when a musket ball zipped past his leg. Blades drawn he smiled at the Bull, calculations running through his mind. "Didn't say please." And like that he released the spell, sending a hard ball of air barreling right into the Bulls shield and causing him to stumble into two of his buddies. But Angus hadn't stayed to watch what his spell had caused, as he was already on his way up the stairs heading towards the ladder.

The bull grunts and throws his axe at the fleeing Angus, who dodges it quickly. When a roaring flame erupts in his path the fox doesn't falter, rushing through it, trusting their cloak to protect them, which it does moderately. They come out a very hot and burned mess, but they come out alive! THey rush to proceed up the ladder while the bandits downstairs regroup themselves. The hawk grumbles and waves Angus to hurry along, patting him when he arrives and then casting an array of dark magic upon him, the foxes body slows as a shroud of dark math envelops his form. It seems to shelter them, buffering them and providing a resistance to the flames great wish to start back up, but it slows their movements as well.

Daniel looks himself over with a bewildered expression, "Now this is now..." He says, not having seen shadow magic before. Still, he wasn't going to argue, hurrying towards the ladder quickly thanks to his speed. Sure, he was still much slower, but still the fastest among the group. He pulls some of the expired liquor out of his sash and tosses it down, sending the stuff all over the floor below before attempting to light the stuff, hopefully hindering their progress.

Angus stiffened in shock as he feels that Dark maginc creep across his form, his burns still rather painful even as the fires die out. He knew that it was supposed to help. But he has never had a good experience with Dark magic. With a grumbled sigh, as he knew that he couldn't do much against it, he started to rummage through his medical kit. "Thank you, now I can tend to the burns."

The fire below rages along the alcohol, the firey heat slowly enveloping the ladder. The hawk scowls and says "What did you do that for?" as he looks around the slowly lighting up room, he moves and grabs a pot of water from a counter and drops it down onto the ladder. He then looks around and says "Can you light this place up a bit my assistant?" as he moves to watch theh ladder, the torch in the other room casting the shadows of folk slowly ascending the stairs.

Daniel scratches his neck, I didn't mean for it to light the ladder ablaze too, I was just trying to keep them back!" He groans slightly, focusing on not lighting the room on fire as well as he summons a flame back into his hands. With a deep breath, he feels the fire form back into his hands, happy to have his magic back. He holds it up above him, effectively turning himself into a standing torch... a short one, but still effective.

Angus sighs as he starts to apply the salve that he had for burns. "Well either way they aren't ordinary bandits, they were hired to come here. Bandits don't use sleeping powder on guards, when a blade to the throat is a lot safer." He mutters, wincing as he applys the salve, before he felt a little better. "Okay lets press forward, might as well see what else we can get into."

"Behind you!" Yelled the fox as his eyes widened in shock. Angus' had seen it just barely, something moving up behind the group as they started to get underway....and it didn't look friendly.

The duo accomplishes quite a feat, beating back the beast with sheer force as it tries to overwhelm them. It gets in quite a few hits, the stench alone burning their nostrils, but after a while they collapse the left side and the right soon follows. Meanwhile, the third of the group is grinning down on a group of bandits at the base of the ladder, all of them groaning about aches as two of them duke it out. All at once the victory is halted, and from behind the creature comes a grumbling figure. "A being should be able to work in peace." he says before he pushes the group towards the ladder and points downwards. "But there are bandits down there! And we're here to protect you and bring you to the city." says the hawk, trying to explain the situation, to which the now well lit ape snaps his fingers, all of the bandits erupting in a torrent of wind that cuts and mangles their clothes. "OUT!"

Daniel collapses to the ground along with the beast, still very much alive, but quite tired indeed. His... everything hurt, causing him to groan. He's rolled along the ground in a cute manner, flopping on top of the bandits right before they're hauled off by the wind, recieving a few nicks to his clothes as well, but still lying down at the bottom of the ladder. "Oooowwwwwwwww..." The mouse's voice rings out from below, poor thing couldn't take much abuse... and that was quite a lot of abuse.

Angus had just nearly lost his life to those strange beasts, and now he is getting kicked out! That did not sit well with the fox as he try to untangle himself from the heap at the bottom of the ladder. "What in the name of the Creators is going on!" Complains the fox, flinching as his burns start to hurt again. He was just as badly hurt as Daniel, but unlike the Mouse he was use to the pain, use to being sore and tired, and his anger helped him from collapsing. "Come on Daniel, I think it's time to leave....Bandits better have left my damn musket alone or I swear some mangled clothing is going to be the least of their worries."

The bandits are eventually swept out the door by wind magic, the armor appears to have gone dormant in their original poses, the bag empty on the floor. "Oh you all. Just get out, I'll come with you." he says as he pulls Daniel outside and walks with Angus and the hawk to the door, which he locks. "Always after my mind, it gets so tiring." he grumbles as he flicks his keys around one finger. "Alright, escort an old man to those who would seek his wisdom." The beaver is woken and brought to, and helps bring the bandits back to firmament loaded in a cart owned by the old man, all bound and sent to the city guard for an investigation.
