A young dainty squirrel girl stands above a sewer opening, looking for anyone who might be willing to help her. Numerous people pass her by as she explains it's about a doll.

Peril trots along the street, keeping out of the way of the larger folk moving around, wary of being trod on with the oblivious footfalls of people three to four times her size as she moves quietly back toward the freeswords, eager to pick up a little extra work to pass her free time. As she neared the child, the little feline found it hard to ignore the pleas from one as small as she was and slowing her pace she moves in for a close look, looking over the squirl and the sewer grate.

Mazurek was also in the area, yet inside. It is one of the patrons telling of a youngster requesting passers-by for help with finding a doll that intrigues him. He is not a dragon this time around, but instead a normal-looking Iguana in shorts and a tank-top. Yes, because he's left his wings behind he has more clothes. His voice is the same, though, as he greets the two.

The girl smiles at peril, showing a missing tooth off proudly in passing. "I dropped my dolly! Shes very special and I really want her back, please help me?" she says as she points to the sewer opening and pleads.

Peril gave the squirl a smile before looking back to the opening, taking a tentative step closer to look down into the darkness while breathing very deliberately through her mouth too avoid as much of the likely unpleasant aromas as she could. With a sigh she looked back to the girl out of the corner of her eye "I don't suppose I could buy you a nice, new dolly?"

Mazurek settles to all fours and gazes down into the sewers along with Peril, "She said it was special to her, Peril. Buying her another one is not going to make things better." In fact he doesn't tarry a moment longer, descending into the sewers immediately.

The girl looks disheartened and hurt at the comment. "No..." she says as she tears up. "Momma gave it to me, it's special..." she says as she takes her tail in hand and hugs it. Peril can see a glimmer down in the sewers for a split second before it vanishes, just before Mazurek makes his way down into the grime ridden opening. The ladder is slick, damp, and filthy from it's proximity and use to the foul watery mess that is the sewers. The sound of footsteps splashing about can be heard in the distance, just off the solid path that connects to the ladder.

Peril shudders at the thought of what may be down there and quickly pushes it out of her mind. Reaching into a pocket, the little cat pulled out a set of soft leather gloves, pulling them on quickly before following after the massive reptile. "You know if I keep ending up in places like this I am going to start carrying a gas safe lamp with me so I don't have to do it in the darkness"

The Iguana digs into a pocket during his descent and puts on some fingerless gloves to help him with his descent, not wanting to lose his grip at all. He can't do a thing about his feet, which remain quite bare, though. He doesn't speak until he is on the bottom, turning toward the sound of splashing, "Stop complaining. You're a cat. What happened to your low-light vision that all you mammals are supposed to have?" He takes his shirt off and wraps it around his face to block a good portion of the smells down here.

The solid ground moves a distance towards the sound before giving way to a watery slop. The splashing sound is getting more and more distant as time passes. The doll is nowhere to be found.

Peril scowls at the reptile, arms folding across her chest as she replies "I can see by sunlight, I can see by moon light and I can see by star light. Total Darkness on the other hand, poses a slight problem. I do know however ever, if you want to block foul aromas a cloth over your nose is useless unless its damp. So got a water bottle on you?" Moving to the very edge of the slip the cat eyes the flowing liquid, knowing it likely isn't going to be crystal clear spring water "You are related to water faring animals right? I think this is your department"

Mazurek smirks, "I don't have any water on me so I guess all I'm doing is keeping it out of my face. I'm descended from the land iguanas, not the marine iguanas. I'd probably have a blueish coloration to my scales if that was the case." He tilts his head slightly, "Sounds like whoever is down here as well is moving further away. I guess that's a good thing."

The sound grows more and more distant before it comes to a stop, and a faint voice can be heard before the running continues.

Peril glances at the big male giving him a smile and asking quickly "I'll give you 10 crowns to let me ride on your shoulders as you chase whatever is running away from here. I'll see if I can use a little magic to find the right path. We have to be quick though. Whatever it is, is getting away."

Mazurek shrugs, "You don't have to pay me a thing. Just climb up and be careful where you put your claws." He steps over to her and squats a little. Looks like she is going to need to climb up him for her perch. Once she is settled, though, he proceeds to move forward.

The sound has either stopped or gotten too far away to hear. As Mazurek moves through the slick gop, passing a few semi-solid objects in the water he comes across another dry portion. And on sits a greasy rat, well dressed ifi not for the tattered portions of his clothes. He squints and looks at the lizard warily.

Peril took up her perch on the reptiles shoulders, resting her weight upon the back of his head and looking out ahead as she began thinking though the magic needed to get an idea of the tunnels layout ahead leaving dealing with the obvious to the iguana while she focused on other approaches, which sadly didn't seem to work out for her.

Mazurek looks down to the rat with a raised brow. A rat in the sewers? This was rather typical, really. Hopefully no diseases here, though, "Hello there. We're looking for something that a kid dropped down here. You seen anything resembling a doll float by in this mess?"

As Peril enacts the air magics to attempt mapping the tunnel, it appears to go awry, stirring the waters and wooshing back to her carrying the delightfully foul smell of the sewers in force.

The rat looks at Mazurek and says "Maybe I did maybe I idn't, whats it to you?" he says holding out his palm.

Peril gags and claps both hands over her snout and ducking down behind the big males head, taking a few moments to recover her seances before pulling herself around to the iguana's other shoulder to get a better look at the rat "A young girl has lost something very important to her. If you tell us something that turns out to be helpful in recovering the item we will reward you on the way back."

Mazurek grimaces, "Great. We have found someone who demands money for information. Well, sorry bub, but I have nothing to give unless you are interested in favors." He starts to move onward but can be easilt stopped.

The rat spits and laughs as Mazurek starts heading off down one of the paths linked to the dry section. "That's fine, have it your way." He seems to settle back down before he squints at the feline. "You look familiar." he says before he points down a tunnel. "Try that way." he adds with a smile. The path he points down looks relatively undisturbed. Off of another side path the sound of distant splashing can be heard.

Peril sighs loudly, and gives her companion a tap on the shoulder "I guess we don't have much in the way of options but to follow this fine persons suggestion. Though I strongly suggest you watch low and I watch high to be sure we avoid any hazards along the way"
