A young dainty squirrel girl stands above a sewer opening, looking for anyone who might be willing to help her. Numerous people pass her by as she explains it's about a doll.

Peril trots along the street, keeping out of the way of the larger folk moving around, wary of being trod on with the oblivious footfalls of people three to four times her size as she moves quietly back toward the freeswords, eager to pick up a little extra work to pass her free time. As she neared the child, the little feline found it hard to ignore the pleas from one as small as she was and slowing her pace she moves in for a close look, looking over the squirl and the sewer grate.

Mazurek was also in the area, yet inside. It is one of the patrons telling of a youngster requesting passers-by for help with finding a doll that intrigues him. He is not a dragon this time around, but instead a normal-looking Iguana in shorts and a tank-top. Yes, because he's left his wings behind he has more clothes. His voice is the same, though, as he greets the two.

The girl smiles at peril, showing a missing tooth off proudly in passing. "I dropped my dolly! Shes very special and I really want her back, please help me?" she says as she points to the sewer opening and pleads.

Peril gave the squirl a smile before looking back to the opening, taking a tentative step closer to look down into the darkness while breathing very deliberately through her mouth too avoid as much of the likely unpleasant aromas as she could. With a sigh she looked back to the girl out of the corner of her eye "I don't suppose I could buy you a nice, new dolly?"

Mazurek settles to all fours and gazes down into the sewers along with Peril, "She said it was special to her, Peril. Buying her another one is not going to make things better." In fact he doesn't tarry a moment longer, descending into the sewers immediately.

The girl looks disheartened and hurt at the comment. "No..." she says as she tears up. "Momma gave it to me, it's special..." she says as she takes her tail in hand and hugs it. Peril can see a glimmer down in the sewers for a split second before it vanishes, just before Mazurek makes his way down into the grime ridden opening. The ladder is slick, damp, and filthy from it's proximity and use to the foul watery mess that is the sewers. The sound of footsteps splashing about can be heard in the distance, just off the solid path that connects to the ladder.

Peril shudders at the thought of what may be down there and quickly pushes it out of her mind. Reaching into a pocket, the little cat pulled out a set of soft leather gloves, pulling them on quickly before following after the massive reptile. "You know if I keep ending up in places like this I am going to start carrying a gas safe lamp with me so I don't have to do it in the darkness"

The Iguana digs into a pocket during his descent and puts on some fingerless gloves to help him with his descent, not wanting to lose his grip at all. He can't do a thing about his feet, which remain quite bare, though. He doesn't speak until he is on the bottom, turning toward the sound of splashing, "Stop complaining. You're a cat. What happened to your low-light vision that all you mammals are supposed to have?" He takes his shirt off and wraps it around his face to block a good portion of the smells down here.

The solid ground moves a distance towards the sound before giving way to a watery slop. The splashing sound is getting more and more distant as time passes. The doll is nowhere to be found.

Peril scowls at the reptile, arms folding across her chest as she replies "I can see by sunlight, I can see by moon light and I can see by star light. Total Darkness on the other hand, poses a slight problem. I do know however ever, if you want to block foul aromas a cloth over your nose is useless unless its damp. So got a water bottle on you?" Moving to the very edge of the slip the cat eyes the flowing liquid, knowing it likely isn't going to be crystal clear spring water "You are related to water faring animals right? I think this is your department"

Mazurek smirks, "I don't have any water on me so I guess all I'm doing is keeping it out of my face. I'm descended from the land iguanas, not the marine iguanas. I'd probably have a blueish coloration to my scales if that was the case." He tilts his head slightly, "Sounds like whoever is down here as well is moving further away. I guess that's a good thing."

The sound grows more and more distant before it comes to a stop, and a faint voice can be heard before the running continues.

Peril glances at the big male giving him a smile and asking quickly "I'll give you 10 crowns to let me ride on your shoulders as you chase whatever is running away from here. I'll see if I can use a little magic to find the right path. We have to be quick though. Whatever it is, is getting away."

Mazurek shrugs, "You don't have to pay me a thing. Just climb up and be careful where you put your claws." He steps over to her and squats a little. Looks like she is going to need to climb up him for her perch. Once she is settled, though, he proceeds to move forward.

The sound has either stopped or gotten too far away to hear. As Mazurek moves through the slick gop, passing a few semi-solid objects in the water he comes across another dry portion. And on sits a greasy rat, well dressed ifi not for the tattered portions of his clothes. He squints and looks at the lizard warily.

Peril took up her perch on the reptiles shoulders, resting her weight upon the back of his head and looking out ahead as she began thinking though the magic needed to get an idea of the tunnels layout ahead leaving dealing with the obvious to the iguana while she focused on other approaches, which sadly didn't seem to work out for her.

Mazurek looks down to the rat with a raised brow. A rat in the sewers? This was rather typical, really. Hopefully no diseases here, though, "Hello there. We're looking for something that a kid dropped down here. You seen anything resembling a doll float by in this mess?"

As Peril enacts the air magics to attempt mapping the tunnel, it appears to go awry, stirring the waters and wooshing back to her carrying the delightfully foul smell of the sewers in force.

The rat looks at Mazurek and says "Maybe I did maybe I idn't, whats it to you?" he says holding out his palm.

Peril gags and claps both hands over her snout and ducking down behind the big males head, taking a few moments to recover her seances before pulling herself around to the iguana's other shoulder to get a better look at the rat "A young girl has lost something very important to her. If you tell us something that turns out to be helpful in recovering the item we will reward you on the way back."

Mazurek grimaces, "Great. We have found someone who demands money for information. Well, sorry bub, but I have nothing to give unless you are interested in favors." He starts to move onward but can be easilt stopped.

The rat spits and laughs as Mazurek starts heading off down one of the paths linked to the dry section. "That's fine, have it your way." He seems to settle back down before he squints at the feline. "You look familiar." he says before he points down a tunnel. "Try that way." he adds with a smile. The path he points down looks relatively undisturbed. Off of another side path the sound of distant splashing can be heard.

Peril sighs loudly, and gives her companion a tap on the shoulder "I guess we don't have much in the way of options but to follow this fine persons suggestion. Though I strongly suggest you watch low and I watch high to be sure we avoid any hazards along the way"

Mazurek nods as he backtracks from the tunnel he was about to go into and instead takes the second path. He doesn't seem to be worried over taking the dryer pathways, his scaled hide keeping the muck and other crap off his tender flesh. Easily cleaned when it came down to it.

The duo travels down a relatively short pathway unhindered by any trickery or errant Fisk, only to see a rather slow running gecko pass by them. He picks up a little speed as he spots the feline and reptile in passing.

Peril has a rather a sinking feeling about the entire venture and raising her hand to rub her temple she mumbled "if one of these guys has the doll we will never get it back." Casting her arm out, her index finger extended to point after the fleeing reptile the little cat proclaimed "follow that lizard"

Mazurek is at first confused by the call to follow the lizard, not having been paying much attention ahead. His head snaps up and he looks around, finally falling on the retreating Gecko. The ride gets a bit bumpy as he turns to give chase. No wings to help him, either.

The gecko looks ready to fight, a mass of alchemic mishaps blocking any further escape. He runs back towards Mazurek, knife in hand, in an attempt to slip by him. The alchemic mishaps shower the group with shards of ice. There must be 12 to 15 of the creatures all pooled in one spot.

Peril waves her arms from behind Mazurek's head, calling to the Gecko "We don't want trouble. Can we at least talk to you for just a moment"

Mazurek moves to block the escape of the Gecko, only to catch a few shards of ice for his trouble! He staggers backward with a grunt and even drops to one knee in the murk. He groans a little and works to shake off the chill while trying to figure out if he should get out of the way or not.

The gecko lunges at Mazurek, his free hand pulling out a doll coated in gems and an elegant white dress as he pulls away from the ice. "I'll drop it, it'll b ruined." he says as he watches the two of them. He slowly backs back out of the shooting range of ice.

Peril Growls down at the little gecko Hold it right there you! That belongs to a little girl, and right now if it gets me out of this sewer I am happy to offer you a sizeable sum of money to turn it over which will save you having to find a buyer later"

Mazurek twists to one side, also reaching up to try and bat the arm holding the dagger away from him. Because he is not on his feet, there's a chance the Gecko could very well have struck him. While his rider works to coax the other lizard to turn the doll over he has to keep one eye on the mishaps while the other is on the Gecko. Should the other lizard turn tail he rushes after as long as those monsters don't put him into a lethargic state.

The mishaps have begun employing random ignitions, which spread over distances as they hit semi-flamable gasses. The gecko considers this and then asks "How sizeable?" as he backs away further.

Peril shrugs her shoulders, her head rolling back and her eyes being cast skyward as she raised her hands "250 crowns right now just to turn it over. No guards, no investigation. Just you with 250 crowns you don't have right now and a little girl that is happy to get her doll back, glass gems and all"

Mazurek rises slowly to his feet again while the Mishaps are staying away from them. Perhaps it is a little foolish to do, but he turns his back to them and focuses entirely on the Gecko. Noting the other is backing up still he moves forward just as slowly, trying to keep the distance from becoming longer.

The lizard laughs and shakes his head, throwing the knife at the two with remarkable aim and runs off saying "Worth way more than that."

Peril curses and and gives Mazurek an encouraging poke with her ankles "Quick! After him! He has the doll!" she calls while questioning the state of the world were someone would steal a doll from a small child

Mazurek cries out as the Gecko's knife is hurled and buries itself in his upper body, and he staggers back a bit. It lodged into his belly, and he grimaces as he clutches the handle reflexively ut does not pull it out. Being familiar with pain he does not let it stop him from giving chase, intending to take it out when he isn't at risk of being eaten for passing out. He has no ranged weapon of his own, so he can't do a thing about it right now.

The gecko lets out a cry as he is slammed into the wall while passing the rat, the doll barely escaping a foul fate. The two struggle for a while but the rat seems to have the upper hand, a swift blow to the jaw jarring the gecko as the duo approaches, Mazurek's clothing a bit of a bloody mess.

Peril waits on Mazurek getting close enough that she could dismount without dropping into anything that looked overly moist or mucky, ignoring the knife jutting out of her companions gut, she swung her legs forward over his shoulder with an arm skill hooked about his neck to steady herself before she leapt down off her perch ready to lend a hand, or several claws where relevant. With a huff she exclaimed toward the rat "250 crowns to anyone that can return that doll unspoiled to me or the child that lost it".

Mazurek is still only wearing shorts with his shirt still covering his face. His shorts are definitely needing to be replaced after this trip is over. With the gecko in a tussle over the doll with the rat now, the Iguana rushes over and tries to take the doll out of the Gecko's grasp.

The rat smirks. "I heard you the first time, I expect crowns for my assistance." he says as he holds the gecko steady, who is now flailing to reach a second knife on his person. The doll is easily taken from the lizards grasp, still pristine white in the iguanas hands. Soon after it is secure the rat recieves a slash from a freed knife. "I don't want to go to prison let me go!" the gecko cries in a rather pathetic tone.

Peril growls down at the little lizard "I dare say you deserve worse for stealing from children, but I'll leave your fate up to my friends here." giving the rat a smile, the little cat raised a hand to reach into her, releasing the purse clasped within and pulling it free "This should be a little over the agreed reward. Would you like it now or would you like the privilege of being the one to return the doll to the little girl?"

Mazurek is quick to turn the doll over to Peril for safe keeping while he grabs the Gecko by the throat to bodily lift him into the air, cutting off his breath for the present time, "We are not going to let you go, and you forfeited your chance to avoid prison when you struck me, fool." He grins toothily and adds, "Or would you prefer to meet your fate at the clutches of the local monsters here?" Devious lizard is devious.

The gecko shakes his head and pulls at the grip to allow for breathing, dropping the knife. The rat smiles and looks the crowns over, then inspects his wound before shaking his head. "No one wants to see a sewer rat like me bring a lil girl her doll, i'll take the money and patch m'self up." he says, seizing the dropped knife and looting the gecko of it's strap. He looks to the iguana, then sits back down and pulls out a small roll of cloth to begin fixing up his cut, since the lizard clearly has this handled.

Peril spends 280 Crown for RP reasons.

Peril clutches the little doll securely to her chest with one hand while groaning at the mention of guards. Rolling her eyes before lifting her free hand to and gesturing toward the path she and her companion had taken into the sewers Well, we best be out of here before my reptilian friends gets an infection but It is good to know there are still people keen to do the right thing down here and avoid activity that invites the city guards to pay undue attention to these parts. trotting forward, she moves toward the upward slope that has prompted to her to mount the massive reptile before.

Mazurek continues to hold that Gecko in that firm and rough grip the entire time the others are conversing. He actually goes so far as to inspect the other lizard's clothing...and in a rather abrupt move he strips the poor creature down to his scales, fully intending to use his lower garments to replace the shorts that became ruined. The shirt is merely ripped right off the body. He has an interesting way to punish his attackers, really. When finished he dumps the poor Gecko right into the murk wordlessly and moves to bodily lift the feline back up to his shoulders before they start heading in a direction of her choice.

The duo ascends from the mix of gunk and stench that is the sewers and into the daylight, the little girl still sitting there where they'd left her. She seizes the doll and hugs it tight and sighs happily. "Thank you!" she says as she smiles at the two. "Thank you thank you thank you." she continues before dancing off, setting down a box full of pretzels for the two of them as thanks.

Peril smiles as the child reclaims the doll, feeling oddly satisfied to have cheered her up even if it did cost her all her profits. She just had to look at it as a good dead and hope that somewhere down the line someone was taking note.

Mazurek made sure to NOT go up to the surface immediately. He spent some time with the removal of the dagger in his gut, followed by the brief moment or two of waiting for the injury to heal, before finally taking off his shorts and putting the newly acquired garment on. Down in the sewers there wouldn't be anyone who cared enough about lack of attire. When he reaches the surface again, even his tank top is back on him. The pretzels are taken by him and offered to the feline if she wants some. He'll be snacking on them for a while.
