Holding up the line of carts coming and going from the gate, a large, being sized, squirkik with black eyes gestures wildly at one of the guards. Its gestures seem to be pantomime, but it's too fast to make sense of, and it says nothing, leaving the guard looking perplexed.
Bite half slither half walks out to the gates, curious what could be going on near firmaments edge that would be causing such a fuss. She watches to examine the strange squirkiks movements, giggling and hissing "Sssweetie what are you trying to tell us? Slow down a little okay?"
Angus twitches slightly as he walks through the gates and looks around, he had heard rumors about a strange squirkiks and he wanted to see it for himself. Walking up next to Bite he starts tapping his foot, still trying to work off the boundless energy he still seemed to have thanks to Kilsa's herbal supplement. "Hello Bite, I'm guessing this is the squirkik that everyone is talking about?"
Fuyu stifles a yawn, having been in the process of leaving. It takes her a few moments to notice anything amiss though. It's about then that she spots Bite, processes the words and turns to look at the sight. "Huh.. that's new." she offers to no one in particular before padding over towards Bite and asking, "New act?" she offers Angus a wave too!
The oversized rodent reaches for Bite's hand, pointing with its other clawed fingers towards the small tavern outside the walls that has become something of a hotel for shadows awaiting permission to enter the city.
Travis makes his way out as well, taking a curious look around as he hears about a commotion. He gazes about, seeing who is around, and blinks a bit as he sees the squirkik, and hopes that it did not come for revenge against it's little brethern.
Bite tilts her head and nods. "I'll go see, is there any danger I should know about before I head over there?" she says in a quizzing tone, just tilting her head. She seems unsure what could be going on over at the tavern. "Yes they're the squirkik, but no it's not an act they want something." She looks prepared to head on over towards the tavern.
Angus looks in the direction it is pointing. "I'll tag along to, just in case you need some help." Both Travis and Fuyu get a warm smile and a wave from the twitchy fox, before he turns to look back at the squirkik to see if it has anything else to say.
Fuyu looks to the Tavern as well, then back to Bite, then back to the Tavern to ask, "What's it about then? I'll go if you want though" She turns on her heels, watching the squirkirk from the corner of her eye. "You're along for the ride too huh?" to Angus, though Travis is given a curious glance
The squirrel like creature guides Bite towards the tavern, its heavy club tail swaying with each step. Once Bite begins to follow, it calms considerably, and saunters along at a sedate pace. The guard looks relieved, and begins waving the carts through, resuming traffic.
Travis blinks a bit, and tilts his head as he watches what is going on. He hmms, giving Fuyu a light smile and a little nod, before he decides to see what is going on, following the unusual site, starting with a bit of extra speed so he can catch up to Bite.
Bite knows it probably isn't the wisest choice, but as she's guided towards the tavern she beings the process of swapping out her soul gems. She's not entirely sure if this will hurt her but she doesn't feel this is the time to be doing belly dances and throwing knives. She eyes the nearing tavern to see if she can spot anything worth noting from occasion, barely looking up from her task.
Fuyu stops outside of the inn and says, "Hey I'll catch up in a minute" before slipping around the side of the building, cautiously checking for problems outside while everyone checks inside. Doesn't do well to have everyone pile in at once anyway
Angus glances at the Squirkik curiously as it seems to calm a little, and follows Bite close behind. He didn't like that they were walking into what could potentially be a trap, but there was nothing he could do about it now as he tightens his grip on his Sabre. He started to think it might be a good idea to switch his soul gems around, considering his current one was more for talking instead of fighting, but he decided against it for now.
The tavern, practically taken over by shadow, is very... quiet. Most sit there in silence, sometimes staring at one another across a table, other times gazing out a window or into their drink. One being, clearly not a shadow, is the only source of sound, as he talks to the bartender, who appears to also not be of shadow origin. The squirkik guides Bite along towards a booth, where a form of utter darkness waits.
The mink follows the squirkik and the Taipan to the tavern, but he stays near the entrance, his eyes slowly looking around, taking in the enviroment, looking for anything that may be dangerous or a threat, his tail swishing back and forth behind him as he places his back to the wall.
Bite looks to the darkness and then to the squirkik, glancing over to the bartender and the other being before nodding. He brought her to this booth for a reason. She inspects it and then looks to the squirkik before approaching it herself. "What would you like me to do?" she addresses to the squirkik.
Angus walks right up to the bar, and smiles at the bartender. "Do you have anything to drink?" He asks, turning around in his seat so that he could watch Bite, and of course everyone else in the room.
Fuyu finishes poking around outside, then slips into the inn and takes a look around, obviously more than a little confused. "So.. what was the thing's problem?" as she makes her way over to the others
The squirkik bows towards Bite, then the figure. The gesture looks awkward, like a trick taught an animal more than one with proper feeling. It then dashes off into the back. The figure seems to look 'at' Bite, but it has no face, no head, more of a cloud of black. Emerging from the inkiness is a hand shaped projection of shadow, which gestures at the seat across from it, beckoning in silence.
The bartender nods at Angus, "Oh, second person that actually talks all day," he says, grabbing a mug, "What'll ya have?" he asks, pleased in tone.
Travis looks over to Fuyu as she comes in, and then nods towards where Bite bite and the form of darkness is. "I think it was on a errand for that." He looks around the tavern again, keeping a careful lookout.
Bite looks to the seat and nods, stifling a giggle as she smiles. "Of course sssweetie, I'll have a talk with you." she hisses and gingerly settles into the offered chair. She knew she was thinking a bit egotistically when she considered that maybe the shadow just wanted to have a talk with a nice girl but it made her smile anyway. Bite then watchs the form for any form of communication that she's supposed to be trying to pick up.
Angus turns around to face the bartender. "What don't have many talkitive people here?" He comments giving him a smile as he watches Bite out of the corner of his eye. "I'll take a light ale please."
Fuyu settles down at the bar near the others, but not Bite of course and says, "You're serious aren't you Angus?" scooting up to the bar, she leans forward, peering at the selection before shrugging, "I'll have what he's getting thanks"
An ale is produced, poured frothy into the tall mug and slapped up onto the counter, "Not so much these days. Shadows taking up all the rooms, and I'll give em one thing, they're patient. They just sit and wait. Don't make no trouble, but quiet, real quiet." he shares, "Nice to see a normal face once in a while."
The figure of darkness seems to focus on Bite, and a voice whispers, at first audible only to Bite, but then, like an echo in a large cavern, to those who would call her friend, "You must know. Will you listen?"
Travis perks his ears up as he hears a echoing sound, and he moves his gaze to the table Bite and the figure is at, looking curiously at them now, a curious hmm coming from him as he stands watch.
Bite nods to the form, settling in to listen to what she's been brought here to hear. "Of course sssweetheart, I've got plenty of time and I came all the way out here, it must be something important for you to send for someone in firmament." she hisses. Bite continues to smile as she prepares to absorb their words.
Angus chuckles as he picks up the mug. "So they don't talk, well then how do they rent rooms?" He asks, his ears swiveling as he hears the echo and he starts to frown.
Fuyu settles back on her seat with her drink, sniffing at the mug. Rolling her shoulders a bit, she looks to Angus and says, "Sounded close enough to me. Maybe they get people to write notes or something too" She doesn't seem to be too perturbed by the echo, though her shoulders do tense up
The echoing voice continues, sounding distant, but clear, "We hear them, their approach. The ones called Masters, the ones that Create, the ones that Destroy. Travis tilts his head, looking at Selena as she walks into the tavern. He gives her a polite nod and a smile, as he continues to look around, tail swaying behind him, listening to the conversation between the shadow figure and Bite, trying to understand what it means.
Selena shrugs nonchalantly as the shadow fades, turning to face Bite. Brow furrowing, she drums her fingers on the table for a moment before looking back to the shadow. "If the missive was sent and received from outside the church, who would believe such a thing anyway? I doubt it'd be more than a select few." Turning to Bite, she tacks on a continuation and reply; "What are you talking about? Everyone is fallible."
Travis tilts his head a bit, giving a light hmmm. He then shakes his head a bit, and sighs. He is not able to understand most of what was said, or what it may mean, he just knows that it is going to likely cause a lot of trouble, and that means he needs to practise a lot harder and get better so he can actually be useful.
