A light rain has begun to fall as everyone gathers. There aren't many takers though. Sitting in the corner of the bar, near the fire with his back to the wall is a black furred hare. He's wearing a slouch cap low over his eyes, a heavy coat, chainmail and dark colored pants tucked into a pair of very well worn Cliffside military boots. He seems to be dozing as he waits with his legs propped up, armos crossed and chin against his chest. A cheerful hedgehog woman greets each person from behind the bar where she cleans glasses, it seems small enough that they don't have serving girls.

Jessica arrives, shaking droplets from her parasol gently before setting it aside. The well dressed skunk seems to have no interest in becoming damp on the way to reporting in. This handled, she approaches, examining the hare.

Angus definitely did not feel like getting soaked as he walked towards the meeting, so he was wearing his usual cloak. Walking through the door he slips back the hood and looks around, noticing the hare and Jessica, before he walks up to the table.

Bite sways into the bar, stretching and smiling as she lets the water run down her body for a bit, looking around for who she is supposed to meet for this job. She takes a wild guess at the hare, and approaches them with "Hey sssweetie. Are you hiring for the digging?" She eyes him curiously as she awaits her response.

The hare doesn't move much at first, though as more people arrive, he leans back a touch further, slides his feet free and drops them to the ground with a solid clunk. Pulling himself in, he scans the crowd, pausing at Angus before saying, "You sure you're going to want in on this one?" He's got a noticeable Cliffsider accent. He tips his hat to Jessica after, then finally gives Bite a curious look, then says, "Sure, something like that." Removing his cap and setting it on the table, he offers the assembled three a wry smile and says, "Right then. I'd like you lot to visit a town, a bit of a walk from this here fine city. There's a mass grave there, I know who's behind it and I'd like you lot to sort the turth of it out so I can bring the guilty party to justice" As he finishes, he's gone back to watching Angus

Jessica allows her head to incline lightly, "I'm afraid I think I misunderstood the assistance needed. I am a courtesan, not an investigator," laments the pampered looking woman, "I'm afraid I shant be of much use, as the dead have little need for my particular services."

Angus flicks an ear as he is examined. "I'm sorry?" He asked, clasping his hands behind his back as he looks at the hare curiously. He had some suppositions that the hare was Cliffside military, not many other beings walk around in standard issue boots, and the red paint that marred his armor confirmed that thought even before he heard his accent. Looking at the other two to see if they were recieving the same treatment, which they were not, he turned back to the hare as he stood at attention. There was something about him, something nagging at the back of the foxes mind as he returned the hares gaze, and tried to remember if he had read of anyone similar to this one in one of the old dusty tomes in the University Library.

Eleni makes her way into the inn, a clatter of chain on plate abruptly stopping as she regards the colors of the person posting the job and gives a halfhearted salute. Small dregs of orange and red are still present on parts of her armor. "Sir. And others." She greets, taking a look at the others in the room, not bothering to remove the helmet obsucring her features. "Ya asked for some digging?"

The hare looks at Eleni's salute and scowls. "If you're going to do such a piss poor job of it, don't bother with the formalities. Now, either do it right or I'll give you a dressing down for the poor state of your kit as much as that limp salute" He starts to say more, then stops as he realizes he was falling into habit. Resting his hands behind his back, he looks at the others present and says, "I'm Brenner, don' need to know more than that unless for some reason you really think you do. As the... esteemed vixen there suggested.." he mutters something before continuing, "As the vixen there suggested, I was Cliffside military and in a way, this job has something to do with that." He looks to Jessica, strokes his chin and says, "You're telling me a courtesan wouldn't want the excuse to dig up some gossip or be seen doing relatively easy good deeds for easy accolades huh?" Finally, he looks to Angus and asks, "Which one are you then? Your last warning either way, I'd duck out if I were you"

Jessica moves to retrieve her parasol, giving it one testing shake, "I think I will take you on your offer, m'lord. Best of luck in your ventures, but one simply must know their station." Hers, apparently, not involving investigating war corpses.

Bite looks the hare over, after having remained silent and hisses "Alright sssweetie I'll help you, but if you know whos behind it you must know where to start." She looks the hare over carefully as she awaits her answer, giggling a bit as time goes on.

Eleni rolls her eyes, though the visor of her helmet makes the gesture almost imperceptible. imperceptible. "'Was' is right. 'M not in ya military any more either. Before ya make any assertions that was by choice. Ya going ta get to the point or should I pull up a chair?" She replies unimpressedly. "Ya should know better than ta beat around the bush if ya want ta correct me on formalities."

Angus ins response to his question takes a step forward. "I'm not here to dig up gossip, and I'm not here to do my good deed of the day. 'Sir'" Angus knew he was talking to an officer that outranked him, so he made sure to show some respect, but his voice was rather wooden. "You posted a request, and I answered." With a nod he then salutes the hare. "Angus Solacious also known as Corporal Revel of the lightbringers unit. At your service."

Brenner looks at Eleni and says, "Go take a walk around the building missy, I don't much like children. If you're wondering why I'm beating around the bush-" Angus then introduces himself, he nods and says, "That would be why. Seeing as how he's sticking around. The other officer in the field that day was a Solacious. A Luca Solacious was the enemy officer. The.. opposing officer, my apologies" He rubs the bridge of his nose before continuing, "Fired everything he had at that refugee camp, we ended up havin' to break cover to try and save the few we did. I want him brought up on charges and I want him dangling from a rope if we're lucky" He looks to Bite, then says, "I know where to start, I want you lot to interview the people there, find survivors of the battle. I can tell you where some of my soldiers were. I want to find out /why/ they butchered those people. I want it done clean." He then fixes his eyes on Angus, watching his reaction.

Angus stiffened at those words, his entire form going ridged at the hares words. "Luca....Solacious." He muttered as he fixed the hare with a glare of his own. His tails flicked behind him, the only outward sign of any anger from the fox, as he leaned on the table. "No no, it's fine. We were your enemies at that point. Now please...can you give us more of an explanation, I would like more details of the battle and the refugee camp, if you would be so kind."

Bite raises an eyebrow and shakes her head. "Alright sssweetie, so where would these soldiers be and where exactly is the site exactly?" she quizzes trying to think of where this could have happened, watching Angus curiously.

"'M glad we have that sorted then." Eleni replies evenly, raising the visor of her helmet for a moment to take a better look at the Fox and Taipan, then back to Brenner as the sheet of metal is closed back up. "I'll see what I can get ya." She replies simply, a more respectable salute given than the greeting though she lingers for the others answers.

Brenner watches Angus' reaction. He nods after a moment and says, "Where do you want to start? I saw them open up on those refugees without warning from our vantage point. It was getting on towards dark and raining, but it's a bit hard to miss an army magician lighting an area up right?" Looking to Bite, his lips tug into the hints of a frown and he says, "Now, I'm not saying you have to be formal, but kindly stop calling me Sweetie. I'll give you a map to the site and if you're going to help, I'll give you a list of soldiers and their last known locations. The Solacious lad there, Angus yeah? He might be able to dig up people on the other side. Maybe they knew something we didn't." Finally, he looks to Eleni and says, "I didn't make you salute that first time or the second, though it was much better the second time. If you're going to insist on keeping that mess up, I expect it done right." He taps his knuckles on the table and with a last look to Angus, then calls out to the hedgehog bartender and says, "Get him a nice glass of wi-" he stops, then says, "What're you drinking?" maybe trying to diffuse a bit of the anger before it boils over.

Angus continued to glare at the hare, trying to find any telltale sign that he might be lying... With a sigh he shakes his head. "Just an ale...Thank you." He mutters, shaking his head lightly before he stood back up. He could feel everyones gaze on him as he stood there, and he pinched the bridge of his nose. "As for the investigation, I'll see what I can dig up on the Sweetwater side of things. Do you know what unit Lucas was in command of?" He asked, pulling out a chair at the table so he can sit.

Bite nods. "Okay sssweetheart, I'll watch what I say." she hissses and smile. "I'll see what I can do with the list, hopefully they're still where they were. The map should be helpful too, maybe seeing things from where they were standing might help? Can you mark where your locations were on the map when it happened?" she adds trying to draw out more information.

Eleni nods. "Ya have your point. Noted, and I'll pass on further salutes then." She replies, considering for a moment before the helmet comes off, holding it to her side. "Eleni Manara. Was a sergeant on the front lines." She states after a brief pause, keeping an eye on Angus out of equal parts suspicion and wariness.

Brenner nods and calls out, "Round of ale around" though he holds up a finger and says, "Ale around if she can start calling me by name, otherwise Ale for the others" He leans back in his chair, takes a breath and says to Eleni, "Retired Major Edward Brenner. I'd prefer just the last part of that really." Bite's given a curious look and is eventually asked, "I don't have a field map. I'll be going with you to the site of the battle anyway though. I live nearby." Finally, Angus is given another consideration as he says, "You'll go meet the people right? The survivors of that night."

Angus nods. "Yes, yes I will." He continued to rub the bridge of his nose for atleast another minute as a headache started to form. "Forgive me for my actions, I hope I didn't appear to hostile from my remarks." He apologized, beating down his anger before he locks it away for later, retreating behind a more formal military standing. Turning in his seat he faced the hare again, and smiled lightly. "But I would also like to be there when you recount the battle for Bite. And if we confront Luca." He could not believe that a Solacious would do just such a thing, but if Luca did. If he was responsible, the fox would hang for it.

Bite sighs and shakes her head. "Okay I'll refrain from calling you sssweetie or sssweetheart, but I won't have an ale Edward, I'm not supposed to drink anymore. I'm Bite, by the way ss..sssir." she says, catching herself and forcing it into something correct. "I'd be happy to have you accompany me, it would be a pleasure." she adds with a smile.

Eleni dips her head momentarily. "Well, it's a pleasure either way." She offers a fleeting smile to the hare as though enjoying a private joke for a moment, though she has nothing more to add.

Brenner looks to Angus and says, "That's fine, it's why I suggested you duck out earlier, it's not an easy thing to swallow." He leans back in his chair, tries to get comfortable, then instead ends up leaning forward. "I'll talk to a cartographer about getting a map together. I'm not too sure how... how well I'd do looking at it on the maprather than in person though. It's one thing to read a map to get from point a to point b, but trying to remember the whole mess." He runs his fingers through his hair before readjusting his cap. "No drink for the snake then, she doesn't want it" and she's still calling him the wrong name, closer though she is. "Eleni, where were you deployed, I don't recognize the name so I know you weren't one of mine"

Angus shakes his head. "Yes, yes you did. But I was to foolish to take you up on that offer and I almost took it out on you." With a shake of his head he leaned back against his chair, he knew all to well how different a battlefield could look on a map, when all the memories of the conficlt are stripped away by a piece of paper.

Bite nods as the drink is called off for her, settling down. "I undertand a map doesn't convey theh experiences you see with your eyes very well, at least none of the maps I've seen do, but it's helpful to have multiple views on any situation." she hisses and smiles. "So when would you like us to start Edward?" she quizzes with a smile.

Eleni raises a brow. "Southestern borders. Ya curious, or do ya have another reason?" She asks. "'M not usually asked about that little slice 'a hell."

Brenner shakes his head and says, "No, no reason, just a bit of curiousity. YOu'd have been in a seperate theater though" He looks to Bite and asks bluntly, "You should learn how to truly offend someone if you're after that, just choosing the wrong name is annoying, not anger inducing" Then he finally looks to Angus and says, "You live and learn. We'll have to sort... something out to compare notes, we'll try to get the maps as accurate as possible."
