The Good King has hired each person personally, while he may be injured he has personally requested or sent messangers to each and every person present at the castle gates. A woman stands there, A heavily armored Panda with a heavy tower shield and a Large two handed sword. "Well, I see the Sweet Water forces are still strong in their soulless." She murmurs. Her accent is thick, Cliffsider possibly.
Zevran swoops down to land a few feet away from the Panda. He came as soon as the messenger had informed him of the mission. He takes a moment to look over the Panda as he hears her murmuring. "Not from around here?" He asks. He can't place her accent at first, but its similarity to a Cliffsiders accent leaves him a bit wary of her.
Ryusho would hum softly, the large dragon looking down slightly as he arrived, loaded up of course since he always tries to keep himself ready for both combat, and just in case field repairs and the like, though he then glances over to Zevran, and hums softly, as he adjusts his pack a bit with a glance around
Rainer comes running up well behind Zevran, huffing and panting heavily. As soon as he comes to a halt he has to bend over, planting hands on his knees to brace himself from tipping all the way. "Wait for... wait... for... I... haa... haaaaaah... HAAAAaaah... huff... did I... did I make it...?"
Angus leans on his musket wondering just what is about to happen as he followed the dragon here. He looks over at Rainer. "Out of breath already?"
Ryyn walks up to the group in padded armor with a small medicine pouch on his side, with a short bow and musket on his back. As he came up to the group he nodded a little
The panda shakes her head. "Of course I'm not." She says softly while adjusting. "But, the good king has asked for assistance. And I'm here to assist. There is a cavern near here that has recently opened up through the attacks of my forces." she adjusts alittle while smiling. "I will show you where it is."
Zevran becomes very suspicious as the panda admits to not being from Sweetwater, and mentions her forces. "A Cliffsider then? Why would you agree to help us? What's in it for you?" He asks warily. He doesn't seem very willing to follow this Panda.
Rainer pushes up to his full height... for all of about three seconds before slumping forward again, shoulders and chest still rising and falling with his every laboured breath. He fires off a Look at Angus but promptly turns his attention to the armoured panda. Though he frowns, he seems content to let Zevran do the talking.
Angus smiles at Rainer before turning his attention to the Panda as well. He checks his equipment making sure his pouch of medicines is secure just in case and that his knife was sharp.
Ryyn turns to the group thinking its pretty obvious why she is helping "more than likely she is in it for the money or the benefits it will grant her, or else she wouldn't go with a group of this large of enemy troops" he shoots the panda a glance
Ryusho hums softly, "...Unless of course she was also confident, or it could of been a trap, but considering the fact that the messages we received were from the Good King himself...I would say we shouldn't need to worry about that too much...."
The woman remains neutral. "There are many groups with in Cliffside. Do you honestly believe that we are all out for power and glory?" She questions with a hmms. Then she begins walking, letting the group follow or not, But she is heading where she was asked to go.
Zevran continues to gaze at the Panda warily."Do you honestly want me to answer that?" He quips back, but follows behind the Panda silently. The information about diffent factions in Cliffside makes him think back to the time some other Cliffsiders helped him out, but he shook his head to clear the memory so he could focus. He doesn't trust the Panda, but still, keep you enemies closer and all that.
Angus give Ryyn a very vulpine smile. "Are you saying that we arn't here for the money?" He jokes as they follow her. Not really know much about the Cliffsiders other then that most of them are trouble.
Ryusho shifts and looks to the others, "..I'm kinda here for the Good King." he says simply, "...Considering he sent for me rather spesifically..." he then says
Rainer looks about the rest of the group with a shrug before he sets off after the panda, using the hilts of his two swords as makeshift armrests as he plods along. "Who'm I to refuse a request from a king, after all?" he inquires of no one imparticular.
Ryyn grins in reply to hte other fox before extending his paw in a hand shake "I'm in it for the money of coarse, Ryyn is the name by the way"
The trip out of the city leads them to a ten man armed unit. All Cliffsiders. "Report back. I have it from here. It is my families duty." She nods as the ten warriors take off. "Now, I do hope you all have horses. It is quite a ride from here."
Zevran watches the exchange between the Panda and soldiers with interest. He is curious about the Panda's reference to her family, but stays quiet for now. In response to her question, he stretches his wings and flaps them a few times.
Angus shakes the offered hand. "I'm Angus it's good to see another fox around here." He shoulders his musket and glances at the Panda as he hears something about horses.
"Um..." Rainer speaks up, since this is one instance where Zevran isn't going to, "Nnnooo?" He gestures around, as if to indicate his general lack of horse-have.
Ryyn shrugs hearing the panda "I don't have a horse but I could probably steal one" grins a little at the thought as he handles the hilt of a small knife on his belt.
The panda sighs. "Then ask your guard, I'm quite sure the King would have assigned a detachment of forces for you." She comments softly while adjusting alittle more. "I shall wait."
Zevran glances towards the others in the group who don't have the ability to fly. "I'm Zevran." He offers as a late introduction to the two foxes. "Hrm...and what is your name?" He asks the Panda as he waits to see how the others will deal with their horseless situation.
Ryusho chuckles softly in thought, a horse for him? that would be interesting...then again that probably means he would need to change out of his dragon form, so he would need to be ready to re- adjust his clothes to his new size a bit for that, otherwise well, they may have horses, he would have to ask about that with the guard...right?
"Rainer." the cloaked wolf murmurs as he wanders past the group and to the gate. Eventually he returns, four horses in tow, though he keeps looking them over with uncertainty. Probably never ridden one before, himself~
Angus waves to Zevran before looking at the horses. He looks over at Ryyn and trys to hide a smile. "Is it sad that I have a friend for a horse and I'm about to ride one?"
Ryyn sweatdrops a little at the wolf "You stole the horses before I even had a chance"
The panda waits quitely now, and once the other soulless have gotten their rides. "Are we ready yet?" She questions. The direction she is facing seems to be alittle dark, something is up in that direction.
Ryusho hums softly, mounted up on one of the more -sturdy- horses, since he has his gear and all, as he looks around, though not much for riding them, he has ridden them a bit, back when he was in his required military service, and besides, he can't fly for extended times, so he is just Tegu right now, not Tegu-dragon....maybe he should try to become a tegu-dragon-grifffon-thing or something in the future, who knows....
Zevran waits fruitlessly for the Panda to give her name. "No name, then? Great. I'll call you Checkers." He states to her, half jokingly. He would probably use the name until it annoyed her, and probably for a little while after that. He watched as Rainer retrieved the horses and Ryusho picked one before glancing towards the direction the Panda was facing.
Rainer's eyes sink half-lidded as he sets his gaze upon Ryyn. "They're not -stolen-, they're on loan, and you better return yours safe and sound, or you'll have him to answer to." A thumb is jerked towards Zevran, and then the wolf sets about climbing onto his own ride. Three or so attempts and a lot of whinneying later, he's laying belly-down upon his steed's back, arms around its neck, clinging for dear life. "Let's just... let's just get this part over with..."
Angus smiles at Rainer as he approachs his own horse and lightly makes his way up onto the saddle. He knew the basics of horseback riding but wasn't an expert. "Hey we were just joking about it." He rubs the horses neck. "Besides it's not like we could just turn around and sell it in the same city now could we?"
Ryyn sighs hearing it is a loan as he climbs onto the horse's back while rolling his eyes "yeah yeah what ever lets just get a move on"
The woman looks at Zevren. "Really? Is that the best you can do?" She questions with a laugh. "Gil." She says simply while guiding her horse towards the dark horizon. "There is a simple cavern at first, so keep this in mind people." She tells them while riding slowly.
Zevran chuckles at the Panda's reaction. "Very well, Gil then. So, did you go through the Academy in Cliffside?" He asked the Panda as he flew close to the group. He didn't seem to trust the Panda, but it seemed like he was trying to be a bit more friendly. After all, it seemed like the journey might take a while and a conversation might help to pass the time.
Angus frowns at the mention of a cavern and checks the dagger at his belt knowing that he couldn't risk using his musket in an inclosed space for fear of hitting his comrades.
Ryusho hums softly as he checks his own gear idly, both his normal combat gear, but also his smithing gear, incase someone potentially shatters their sword or something......
"Oh Creators!" Rainer's horse takes off at a gallop and quickly outpaces the rest of the group. When they catch up to him some minutes later, he's secured the steed to a tree ... well off the beaten path ... and the wolf is making the treck on foot, though as they catch up he jerks out a thumb hitch hiker style, hoping to get a lift with one of the more capable riders.
The panda nods. "Yes, MY parents are well known nobles in our home." She says to Zevran. "Also, I would come down as it might storm. I am unsure what was released or what defenses might have been triggered by our war with your kingdom." The woman is honest and fearful of none of the people following her.
Zevran seems a bit curious at the mention of the Panda's family. "And what family is that?" He asks inquisitively as he lands near the Panda's horse. He continues to walk along at the same pace as the horses.
Angus sighs and offers a hand to Ranier. "Try riding the horse not breaking your neck." he says teasingly as he helps him onto the horse, thankful to have someone at his back who actually knew how to use a sword.
Ryyn he cassually galloped his horse up to the group to catch up with them listening while looking at what hung from their belts. As he came next to the other fox he nodded slightly "You ride horses much Angus?"
The trip is long, more than half a days travel. BUT, during the entire trip towards the location it grew constantly darker and darker. "This seems like a defense. Draw your weapons and dismount." The panda orders the group as she finally gets off her horse and hmms. "The cavern is there." There is what looks to be a crator from one of the large war machines and crumbled ground.
Zevran looks towards the crater as the Panda signals for the others to dismount. It seems he has no weapons, but this is not completely true. His claws are as dangerous as any sword. He glances around the darkened area, searching for any threats.
Rainer doesn't so much dismount as fall off the horse, getting up and dusting himself off as if this was perfectly natural, checking his hood to make sure it's drawn fully over his head, and looking about their immediate surroundings, though his interest seems more upon the sky above. "I'm still a little unclear as to what's so important about this place we're going to." remarked as he doesn't so much prepare his weapons as rest his arms atop them.
Angus dismounts and turns to Ryyn to answer his earlier question. "I know how to ride a horse but never really spent a lot of time with them." He grabs his musket and readys his dagger. His ears swivel catching the slightest sound as he stands there on guard.
Ryusho would dismount as he would adjust his clothes a bit, as he then would change back into his draconic form, taking about a minute to do so, though as he does change, he would work to adjust just making sure his clothes were not too tight as he changed, and..well he didn't want to loosten them up too soon either otherwise that would be akward, but soon he is back in his draconic form and ready for combat as he draws his weapons, and holds them idle
Ryyn getting off of his horse he grabs his short bow and readies and arrow in the bow as he looks into the cavern as his nose and ears twitch for any of the slightest sounds or smells
The panda moves slowly. "keep your spacing and lets go. At the bottom of the cavern is a temple of some kind." she informs the group and moves, she is small but somehow surprisingly strong as she moves down the caved in ramp.
Zevran follows after the Panda, careful to watch his steps as he descended the ramp. He continued to gaze around the area for any threats.
Angus follows close behind, his sure footing allowing him to keep pace with Zevran, hanging back a little so as the give the Gryphon some room to maneuver and so he has a clear shot at anything that might be infront of him.
"Temple?" Now she has Rainer's attention. The wolf springs forward and goes skidding down the ramp with reckless abandon as he blurts out "Woo-hoo-HOOOoooo, why didn't you say so in the first place?!" ...Well, probably to prevent them from doing something idiotic like that, but.
Ryyn scowls a bit as he originally thought they were going to sneak forward till the wolf's voice echoed through out the whole cave as he went down the ramp "Keep it done bud, we don't need what ever is in here comming after us early"
Ryusho blinks slightly as he looks around and then slowly looks around then after Rainer, "...Oh come on..." eh says sighing a bit, Rainer is so after gold or something from something else he heard, but well..this is going to be a problem....
Well mister noisy gets a responce back, there is a Massive, rumbling growl as the wolf lets out a loud sound. There is movement in the darkness that soon stops. "That.. is why I didn't tell you before." She mutters softly covering her face.
Zevran looks into the darkness, attempting to see what the source of the growl is. "Creators damn it, Rainer. One of these days, I won't be here to save your hide." Zevran growls angrily. "What is it that you didn't tell us before, exactly?" Zevran asks Gil as he moves towards the front of the group.
Rainer continues to increase his lead, not about to let some noises in the dark put a stop to his fun, apparently. He does bring out both of his swords, though, holding them high over his head as if to issue an open challenge to the Shadow that surrounds them. "Adventurer Rule #24!" he barks, "Don't hesitate - just act!"
Angus crouches readying his musket as he waits for whatever made that sound. A cool wind blows past the group as he focuses letting Zevran take the lead as he follows rainers progress waiting for something to strike.
Ryyn sighs as rainer issue's a battle cry as he places his bow back on his back and draws his musket. With gun drawn he creeps up next to the other musket user "Don't shoot till you see it bud"
Well, the unaware tend to make take a risk when they rush ahead. Then seconds later there is a growl as a cone of fire bellows up from below. Rainer is caught head on as is Angus. A low growl can be heard from below.
Ryusho jumps in supprise a bit, though..well had he been closer he might of been caught but then again it wouldn't of hurt him...it might of made his clothing rather...burnt or not as-much-existing but luckly he was out of it's cone of fire, no pun intended, so both him and his clothing are fine, thankfully...
Zevran maintains his distance from the cone of fire that erupts from the shadows. "Looks like it's all you. I'm not fire-proof." He says to Ryusho before turning back to the panda. "So, exactly what is that thing?" He asks again. He had the urge to rush in and try to help Rainer, but previous experiences with fire left him a bit dissuaded.
Rainer gets his first indication that the attack isn't going to come from in front, around, or above when the ground beneath him starts to crack and heat up. "Shi-" FOOOM! Not only the he get a thorough flamb�-ing, but the impact of the fireball knocks him a good few feet up into the air and backwards. He hits the stone hard and skids a short distance, almost immediately starting to sit up. "I'm okay--!" At which point he abruptly collapses.
Angus has a few seconds to watch Rainer get thrown before the cone of fire hits him as well. Throwing him a god ten feet to slam into one of the stone walls. His musket clatters to the ground before he does barely able to move at this point.
The panda sighs. "That.. is the defense I was telling you about. I knew not what would happen." She mutters a bit and sighs deeply while she moves to check on Rainer. She takes a moment and hmms, stopping she smiles. "They will be fire.. what ever is awaken down there is.. not at full strenght. I suggest that we all take our time to heal our wounded." She informs. "Do not advance further."
Ryusho hums softly, "I can advance fine even with how the fire is going on.." he says after a bit, "But I can help with medi+gear

Zevran seems a bit concerned at Rainer's condition, but isn't skilled enough with medicine to help. "If you're going to charge in, you need to be able to deal with the consequences." Zevran says to the knocked-out wolf. He seems to be mad at himself for not being able to protect the wolf. "Do you know how long it will take for that defense to be able to trigger again?" He asks the Panda as he gazes around the area, trying to spot some way of deactivating the trap. He is careful not to move from his current spot, which appears to be safe.
Rainer certainly isn't going anywhere. Or doing anything. He's slightly not amongst the conscious at the moment.
Ryusho sighs as he goes over to Rainer, the currently unconcious of the pair to work to haul him back to the 'safe area' nearby and check over his wounds...
Angus groans as he manages to sit up, feeling like a well-done fox steak, he looks around and grabs his musket. "I can manage...kind of." he grabs the medicine pouch at his side and starts tending to his wounds.
The woman hmms. "Constant. I believe that what is below is not a machine or creature that has been known to the world for a long time. "I had heard rooms of something being heard below but none of my men or any of our army went below as we are not here for this." She informs as she starts tending Rainer quickly, healing him up quickly before helping Angus, who is also healed up quickly. She hefts her shield once more readies it infront of herself. She advances slowly down the hill.
Ryyn as he saw the tunnel light up with flame and hit the idiotic wolf he promptly leapt to the side unknowingly leaving angus to get torched. "What the Hell was that?!"
Zevran watches as the Panda heals Rainer and Angus. "What was it you were here for, then?" He asks rather blatantly. He knows Gil probably won't answer, but he figured he might as well ask. He follows carefully in the footsteps of Gil as he proceeds down the hill, now very wary for any more defenses.
Rainer's injuries are largely superficial, thanks to having been blown away by the force of the impact. Even his clothes have survived more or less intact, minus some singe-ing. An inspection will also reveal that he has no fur. Like... none. That's a pre-existing condition, though, not the result of his encounter with the inferno. As he's finally roused back to the waking world, he sits up with a deep groan, rubs the back of his head, and looks about. "Haaah, well, that was... kind of thrilling."
Ryusho sighs as he looks at the two who may be concious now, may not as he shrugs and turns to follow, if not partly lead as well, though its because he has no worry of the elemental defenses that this place has shown so far..but he does keep himself wary and ready just in case..
Angus thankfully will be only missing a few patchs of fur and only a few minor cuts and brusies since he wasn't hit by the full force of the fire. He stands and falls in behind Zevran ,making sure to be more watchful of where he steps. "Thank you for the help Gil."
