Log

The boat draws into dock. As boats go, it's fairly well accommodated. A plank goes down, but only to lead a more ornate walk away along to the side, admitting the people wealthy enough to step down into the city proper.

The Gator, Darquan, wanders onto the docks from the main concourse. He apparently was unaware at present that anything special was going on, for he is carrying a piece of paper and reading from it while walking. He has the look of one who is a crafter, if the thick muscle tone is of any indication.

Bite stops from her casual trek to the beach to watch the spectacle and shakes her head, seeing the extra walk completely un-needed. She curiously wonders who could be aboard the ship as she sways in place.

Ictus enters the docks from the Concourse as well and looks about, he hmms? at the boat and glances at it as he wanders towards it

Various beings spill out, some looking common born, possibly merchants returning from trading ventures. One descends carefully, fur brushed clean and white, peering out from behind glasses. The family crest sways from the end of her tail with each step. As she sets sandled paw on the ground, she takes a light breath, "Home again."

The gator finally raises his gaze from that paper and only then notices that there's something going on. Fortunately for the kilt-clad reptile he hadn't stepped on anything he shouldn't have and stops in his tracks. The paper is slowly lowered and carefully deposited in the kilt's pouch.

Coming in from the plaza is a tall, broad bovine, black hide with red hair, one of hte Stronghearts, it seems. He looks over at the boat and the newcomers, and amkes his way towards it to see the happenings.

Bite looks to the fox and tilts her head. She appears to have a lot of time to keep herself in presentable condition, possibly noble. She watches them from afar.

Ictus hmms? at the arctic fox as he looks her over and smiles as he spots the crest, he waves friendily at her as he approaches, "Well now, welcome home." he smiles

Sway, goes the tail, making the bangles chime and dance as she looks over the docks with a calculating look, "None the worse for wear," she decides to herself, "But terribly fortified. I hope they don't swim..." Then ictus approaches and she brightly smiles at him, "Ah, now I know I'm home. Good day. Creators watching well?"

Darquan finally looks around at the others who are present after the fox approaches the vixen. If he notices the serpent he turns to head in her direction. Otherwise he just stays there and observes

Bite tilts her head at barely hearing the hope they don't swim comment and looks to her clan crest. Not sure if she should be offended or not, she tilts her head and watches the interaction. She waves briefly to Darquan.

Ictus smiles and nods to Sally, "Indeed they are, what about you... Sally was it?" he thinks on that

Two foxes, both with House seals...The auroch snorts a bit and smiles, making his wa a bit closer to the various people milling at the boat.

Sally inclines her head at Ictus, "As decided by my father and agreed to. Just returning from study abroad, and I hear things are dreadful, so I thought not to tarry any longer and return where I can be more useful." she explains as her tail gives a flick, jangling.

Darquan returns the wave to Bite and speaks to her after he reaches her, "So who is this one who has just arrived? Looks rather important."

Bite looks her over and tilts her head. "I think shes one of the noble foxes." she says with a hiss. She continues watching, taking note of Tarvak and smirking a little.

Ictus hmms? and chuckles at that with a nod, "So how were your studies? Things aren't too bad here though..." he hmms? and steps back so Sally can fully disembark from the boat

Tarvek nods back to Bite, giving a cordial enugh smile. "Good afternoon," he rumbles in his deep bass. "I hope that you are well today?"

Sally shakes her head, "Well enough," she waves off, "But there's work to be done. What's the report?" And then Tarvek approaches. She looks him over curiously a moment, "Ah, you look familiar, but I can't put my finger on it..."

Darquan turns his attention back to the foxes and the newcomer. He furrows his brow contemplatively, "Should I go introduce myself, you think?"

Ictus nods and chuckles at that, "Alright." he hmms at the question and ponders a bit, "Nothing terrible that I've heard, shadowed creature's have been on the rise though..."

Bite smiles to Tarvek and then looks to Darquan. "It wouldn't look good to a noble if you pushed yourself into their convesation, be sure you mind your manners if you wish to try." she hisses.

Tarvek nods to Bite and Darquan, "And in any event, they are of the same House. Even another nobleman would not interrupt a reunion before it was complete, unless he outranked them and there was a matter of urgency."

Sally reaches to swat Ictus on the shoulder lightly, "You are keeping me in suspense, dear kin. Introduce me to these fine people that seem eager to meet me," she beckons, gesturing at the gathered crowd, "We shouldn't be inhospitable."

Darquan snorts, "Come now, I am not that addled to know that I shouldn't butt in on Nobles." The bare-topped gator crosses his arms while turning toward the others again, tail swaying slowly.

Ictus hmms? and chuckles ashamedly at the swat, "Yes, you are right." he looks to the others and nods, "This is Bite." he smiles as he waves to her and nods at Tarvek, "This is Tarvek, of House Strongheart I believe?" he looks at Darquan and hmms, "I'm afraid I don't know him though..."

Bite giggles that Darquan admits he's a little addled in the first place. She watches the fox gestures to the crowd curiously. "We might not have to start the conversation." she hisses.

Tarvek nods, "Indeed," he rumbles. "You both appear to be of House Solacious? I bid you both greeting," the bull says, before bowing formally.

** She waves back to Ictus and smiles warmly at the two of them.

Sally nods towards Tarvek, "Creator's Blessing on you and your house. I am Sally Solacious, returned to help fortify our lands and keep our people safe," she says with no small pride, "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, and you as well," she says to Bite second, then looks towards Darquan expectantly.

Darquan waits until it is his turn to speak before he bows, "Darquan, M'lady. I am on the path to become a Smith. I have just started the journey, however. Perhaps, one day, I might gain regular service from your House should I prove satisfacroy?"

Bite smiles to Sally. "What is your name miss?" she hisses, giving a slight bow. "I'm Bite, and may I say you look pretty today." she adds with a giggle, complimenting the noble.

Jangle go the bangles on the white fox's tail as she nods at Darquan, "Always a use for sharp blades and strong fortifications. I will sample your work after I am settled, be assured." She tilts her head at Bite then, "Did I not just say?" she asks, "Creators blessed for screwing my head on tight, or I might have lost it. Sally Solacious is the name, nice to meet you and your honeyed tongue."

Tarvek nods. "As if our House, though we really want to secure mines first before smiths," he says with a bit of a grin. "But welcome to Firmament. I hope that your trip was uneventful."

Bite shakes her head. "I was not listening until now sssweetie, I don't eavesdrop." she hisses and smiles. "If you ever need a mage or treasure hunter be sure to come to me first, i'd bemore than happy to help."

Tarvek nods. "Especially treasure hunting. If there are particular items you want, be sure to specify up front, or you might need to buy them afterwards." He chuckles, then looks at Bite, "I know I won't make that mistake again."

Sally bobs her head, "Well met then, both of you," she greets with a chipper tone, "Are either of you serving in the militia or army by odds?" she queries, "I'm going to have to do a head count."

Darquan shakes his head, "I am not currently serving in any active military role, though I suppose it would not be too difficult to begin if I had the soul gem of a fighter type." The Heavy Clan gator goes so far as to show off a little by flexing. He could already be mistaken for a fighter with how much bulk he has for muscle.

Tarvek lows softly. "I am serving in a military capacity. My House is...not entirely fond of the soulless, and to some extent, I am doing my best to show them wrong in their views."

Bite looks to Tarvek. "What do you mean sssweetie?" she giggles, thinking of what she might have taken from the poor noble. "I'm not in the military but might be avaliable for mercenary hire."

Sally shakes her head, and her tail moves counter wise, jangle jangle, "I'm not here to draft anyone. I only want willing, eager recruits, itching to do their best for king and country. Ah, you are? Excellent. What company?" she asks of Tarvek.

Darquan smirks, deflating as he relaxes his body a bit, "Who said I was not willing or eager? Perhaps it may be fortuitous to be one of those who are both a combatant and a smith? Right this moment the soul gem I possess is that of the Journeyman. I can already help to some degree."

Ictus hmms? at Darquan and chuckles, "Well, if you are willing... I don't see why we shouldn't recruit you." he looks at Sally for confirmation

Tarvek snorts, nostrils flaring slightly, "I am with the Freeswords' at the moment. I do not want to be as...pedestrian as the regular militia. I cannot afford to be, if I want my House to see me as a true heir and leader and not just a...special retainer, as so many soulless are to the Houses."

Sally inclines an ear sidelong at Ictus, "I was just thinking of forming a special unit," she announces, "I will have to follow proper protocols, of course," she says with a huff. As if she weren't a proper lady, "But I should think the country will benefit from a disciplined and well integrated soulless unit. To do the things normal people quiver in fear of."

Bite giggles. "If it pays i'll do anything that doesn't seem immoral." she hisses, thinking of her run in with bandits in the sewers. "If theres money to be had and i'd still be free to seek out treasure i'd be more than happy to help."

Darquan raises his brow slightly as he looks from Ictus to Sally, "What did you have in mind, Madame Sally?" He then eyes Bite with a smile, "The only money that I would be asking for is what I need to begin my crafting. The rest can come from the customers seeking my services."

Tarvek tilts his head slightly, "I think that much of what you wish to do, the Freeswords already do. I might suggest talking with them and seeing how much of a foundation is there, at least. It migh things much easier for all concerned."

Ictus nods to Sally and grins, "Sounds like a good idea." he hmms? at Bite and chuckles, "We'd be doing things for King and Country, nothing immoral about that." he looks to Tarvek and shrugs, "The freeswords are mostly mercenary..."

Sally shakes her head, "Disciplined," she repeats as if that should explain things. She looks Darquan over, "Planned strikes against the enemies, rapid reactions to their actions. Keeping our borders and people secure through proactivity." She slaps one hand in the other, "We have an asset, it's time to make it count. No slapdash mercenary work."

Tarvek shrugs back. "I never said that they were not, but rather that they have quite a lot of experience with and paperwork on soulless. Training techniques. Rosters of who would fit well in what kinds of units. They are a resource that can be used."

Bite nods to Tarvek, smirking. "I'm sure both of these groups could work out in their own way, just because someone does something doesn't mean it can't be done by someone else. Even with all the freeswords work we have so many people who seem to constantly be suffering, it would be beneficial to the country to have more active groups." she hisses and smiles.

Darquan nods slightly, "What would you have me attempt to accomplish, and how long will you give me to do so, Miss Sally?" He is keeping quiet on the other topics even though he glances to each speaker.

Ictus hmms? at Tarvek and nods, "True." he tilts his head at Bite and nods at that

Sally shakes her head at Darquan, "If I could predict how long a war would take, I'd have a brilliant future as an oracle of the Creators. I need people willing to sign on until the shadow menace is a distasteful memory."

Darquan says, "That was not my question, M'lady. I was asking what you were wishing me to accomplish and how long you would be giving me to complete the task. Unless you meant the war itself...?"

Tarvek snorts. "You should know our reputations, after all it was only a century ago when our House was founded, after my great great grandfather was in an army of your House, and proved too stubborn and tenacious to lose when he should have. So...I would be willing to help/."

Bite smirks. "Again, if there's pay involved i'd love to help you sssweetie. I'd probably help if there wasn't but pay ensures my sign on."

Sally flashes a smile, "Excellent then. Allow me to get the paperwork out of the way then," she says, jangling her tail, "And I'll have your script sent to your house. It will be a pleasure." Sudden distracted look, "I should get on that now. No time like the present."

Darquan steps back a little and bows, "Until we meet again, Lady Sally. I shall be working on my crafting and fighting skills to suit everyone's needs."

Bite giggles and smiles. "I look forward to seeing you again miss Sally." she hisses and makes way for her departure. "You'll get the hang of it." she hisses to Darquan with a smirk.
