It is fittingly foggy on the usually quiet mountain pass today. One can only see about 15 meters ahead and has to take care not to fall off a cliff or run into a boulder, or something more unpleasant. The quiet is broken only barely by the distant sound of pained moans and heavy steps that slowly approach from the north.

Amidst the fog is a feline carrying a sabre in her right hand. She can easily hear the moans from up ahead and she stays quiet. There's really no point in her saying anything. If no one else shows up, then she can just slowly back away from the hoard of the undead and pepper them. As she looks to the north, her tail moves slowly through the air. Apparently, she is the first one to show up for the call. Normally, she is late for these sorts of things, and hopefully it means that more will show up soon.

Fenris saunters up out of the mist, hands jammed deep into the pockets of his long coat. He was surprised to get the call on this one. "They never roam this far south," he says, peering into the fog, "The Bone Lady usually likes to keep them close." The tiger raises his hands and mutters a bit, moving in patterns that a practiced eye would recognize as a complicated Kevinscope until a wisp of fire blooms in the air and expands into the form of a large, feral feline of some kind. After he has summoned up his elemental, the Tiger relaxes a little, trying to feel out any possible Spirit influences. "I can't imagine that she would try to extend her power this way," he says, "Not now, at least."

Millicent slips forward with the others, hood tugged up against the fog. She's a bit more solemn than usual today, as she always is when it comes to matters of Mossy Stone. "Why are you so far from home, old friends," she mutters to herself, resting a hand on her sword.

The three freeswords manage to find each other despite the fog, but it does not look like anyone else is coming. With the fog and the echo from the mountains it is hard to say how many undead are approaching, but what is clear is that they are coming closer at a steady pace.

Cara sighs for a moment, "Great, just great. Apparently, we are the only ones who bothered to show up." Cara takes a few steps forward in the direction of where the moaning is coming from and she sheathes her sword. In her mind, she begins to concentrate and hopefully get the equations right. As she begins to calculate, her gauntlet wearing hands are covered in a slowly brightening red glow. As the information comes out, she brings her hands together and grits her teeth. If this works, then it could make things easier. Soon, the calculations are completed and she unleashes the spell in the direction of the moans.

Fenris urges his fiery, feline elemental forward into the fog, his ears perked up and scanning the dim area for the imminent attack. "What is she up to?" he mutters out loud, his hackles rising as he senses Pyrrha's will behind these shambling abominations. A vivid, green ? appears suddenly on the tiger's cheek. "Let's see if we can't shed a little light on this situation," he says, his eyes unfocusing a little as he sets into another series of motions, this time using water math to try and push back the concealing fog.

He gives a little nod of acknowledgement to Millicent. "You haven't heard any news about the stone lately, have you?" he asks as he works.

"Of course not. There's not exactly a town crier anymore," Millicent says, drawing her sword and taking a position in front of the magicians, waiting. "No news goes in or out. I'm not sure I'd want to hear it if there was."

Cara's fire spell lights up the fog around them and hits something, what it hit is uncertain until Fenris clears the fog around them a few moments later, revealing a huge, scorched boulder, and, further up the snake like path the front of the undead horde, a dozen of them is plainly visible, with more shapes lurking in the fog where it still hangs, impossible to count. The group of three, now with the fog cleared and just having started a major firework, certainly got their attention, as indicated by the lightly armored vanguard that is rushing down the street and towards them.

Cara sighs and turns toward the lightly armored vanguard in front of her. She pulls out her sabre this time, and quickly leaps to the side of her original position, "Well, I guess I'll just use it a second time then." She grits her teeth in a fuss and proceeds to use the same spell again. This time, aimed toward the vanguard rushing towards her. As the spell is quickly unleashed upon the charging vanguard, she glances towards Fenris, "Thanks again!" and proceeds to direct her attention towards the rest of the horde of zombies.

"Oh," Fenris says, blinking at the suddeny and worryingly visible horde bearing down on them, "That is not something I hoped to see today." The burly tiger does not rush to engage. Instead, he directs his fire elemental into the fray to hold the slavering undead back as he prepares some more magic of his own, calling blazing balls of flame down from the sky into the thick of the oncoming horde.

Millicent maintains her position. She's not going to run in, deciding to wait for them to come to her, instead, as she settles into her ready stance, sword up and ready to defend against the first of any blows that might come her way.

Angus hurriedly fights with his Leather coat, dawning it as he clutches a Square of hardtack between his teeth. He couldn't believe no one had informed him of this till the last second, an angry growl escaping around the food as he forcibly buckles on his weapons belt. He clears the fog with a bit of a startle, taking in the situation for a few moments before the hardtack is thrown away. So much for the food, as he draws both blades at his hip, rapier and dagger becoming engulfed in Creator fire as he moves to support the rest of the freeswords.

Several of the rushing zombies fall to the ground, their ragged armors on fire and them twitching and clawing at the ground. The smell of burning, moldy flesh fills the air around them. The ones that remain standing, six of the originally twelve, have reached the group and start swinging axes and maces at Cara, Angus and Millicent. All three manage to fend off the attacking shamblers, Millicent even decapitating one with a counter, causing it to drop to the ground. The main part of the horde starts moving now that their vanguard is being slaughtered and burned, row on row of armored skeletons and zombies stepping out of the mist and slowly heading down the road.

Cara swiftly rolls to the side to dodge the swinging weapons. She promptly glares at the zombies and smiles for a moment as her sabre lights up in a bright white glow of energy. Her gauntlets also begin to glow brightly as well and she rushes forward to deal with the many zombies with her attention firmly placed on dealing with this set of zombies.

"Captain," Fenris says genially as Angus joins the party, "always a pleasure." Though it looks like there is not much time for chit chat. "What is she doing?" the tiger asks the air, another ?, this one a vivid purple appearing on his chin, "This is way out of character." He urges his elemental toward the advancing ranks of undead and follows it with a blast of magic, sending a wave of fire billowing out in front of the party, spreading as much damage as he can around. He fears that it might just be a delaying tactic at this point, though. "I'm tempted," he grunts, reeling a bit from the exertion of all this magic, "To just call her up and ask her."

Millicent keeps her feet planted as the first attacker falls, turning her attention to the other one that had swung at her, bringing her sword to the side in a wide arc. There was no time for thinking or nostalgia here. Just the fight.

Angus gives Fenris a nod, but before he can respond the undead are upon them. As a blade hisses through the air looking for his hide he ducks, and steps back to watch the blade slice harmlessly through the air. Standing back up he fixes the undead with a cold, blank stare as he thrusts his rapier forward twice, aiming for the poor creatures throat to sever its spine.

The remaining five of the vanguard drop under the combined effort of the freeswords, but there is no time to take a breather. The heavily armored undead at the front of the main group raise their shields and just shrug off Fenris' fire attack. They slash out several times at the fire elemental he had summoned, which, after setting a couple of the attackers on fire, fades under the overwhelming attack of the horde. It is now a matter of moments before they reach the four brave fighters as a single, skeletal being on an equally skeletal horse appears at the corner of the fog. It is easily spotted, towering over the others thanks to its mount. It is the only mounted undead out of the whole visible horde.

Cara stares at the rest of the approaching hoard and she grits her teeth at seeing the small effectiveness of the fire elemental. The feline sighs for a moment and shouts out, "Hey, Fenris! Let's light their feet on fire!" Cara takes a step and she begins to concentrate once more, this time making the necessary calculations to aim towards the undead horde's feet.

Fenris opts to use this last bit of time to let loose one last bit of powerful Mathemagic before the true horde is upon him and stretches forward a finger toward the mounted skeleton, calling forth a white hot blast of lightning to crash down on the undead abomination and his steed. Then he focuses on defending himself, a haze of heat and a gentle, golden glow rising off of him. His attention is drawn by Cara's call. "Their feet?" he asks, "As opposed to their whole bodies? Why?" Then, under his breath, he mutters, "Pyrrha, why do this?" He is not sure if he expects an answer or how he expects it to come, but it is the question on his mind.

Millicent was not unused to dealing with multiple foes. It is what she trained to face down, and so with practiced movements she takes a single step forward, the movement flowing into another swing. And then another. And so on, each step bringing another swipe from her sword, sometimes more than one.

Angus kicks away the form of his foe to wrench his blade from them, giving it a flick to send hissing blood flying from its surface. His ears perk as he hears both Fenris and CAra shouting, looking up in time to see the horde decending upon them. "The undead force works on breaking through enemy lines by sheer number, we need to kill their momented! Fenris, we need a sink hole!" He shouts in turn before the skeletal knight upon the horse draws his attention just as lightning falls.

The ground around the front of the hoard is set on fire by Cara, though the simple act of them approaching stomps the fire out quickly enough. The spell Fenris directed at the rider never hits its mark, being intercepted by the metal shield of a zombie who raised it high to block the attack, only to go down as a twitching mass, and quickly be trampled over by the skeletons behind him. The rider gestures towards the group and directs his horse to ride up the mountain, back into the fog. Milicent, who engaged the first of the horde to arrive at the group's location, drops two of the armored zombies, but, much like their shield wielding comrade they are quickly replaced from further behind, forcing her to retreat or be trampled.

Cara glares at the approaching horde and growls deeply as her sword and gauntlets glow once more. "Okay, that tears it." The feline immediately rushes towards the zombie horde. As she rushes forward, one can easily figure out that she might be pretty annoyed at the moment. As she runs toward the horde, she begins to slash her glowing, white sword through the air with the intent to tear as many zombies apart as possible.

"Sink hole," Fenris mutters, scurrying for cover to fiddle with the ornate pendant he wears around his neck, "Why didn't I think of that? It's not like I was up to my ears in burning zombies or anything. I was just sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for you to think of making a sink hole!" After finishing his little tirade, the tiger's eyes flutter for a moment, as if he was in deep sleep and dreaming. Then he opens his eyes and steps back out of cover. "Sinkhole, right," he says, stomping a foot HARD on the ground. Normally, that would not do much except hurt, but with the appropriate Earth magic behind it. . . Well.

Millicent doesn't stop swinging when more come! They're just lining up for her to hit them. She does start to slip back, but with every step back she takes, there's another swing going out. She didn't want to be caught in the area when the sinkhole opened up.

Angus sighs as it seems no one is realizing what they were doing, cupping a hand over his muzzle as he shouts. "FAll back, lure them closer!" His ears flick, his attention roaming over the situation to see if he could see the armored skeleton once more.

Millicent and Cara had just dropped another row of the assaulting undead, with Cara cutting a deep swath into their lines, as the ground starts to shake and knock them both off their feet, as well as the surrounding enemies, at least the ones close to the group. A big gap in the road open, and about 4 feet worth of road vanish down the cliff, taking a couple of zombies with them and splitting Cara from the group. Several zombies are still on the group's side of the gap as well and slowly get up to assault Millicent, who gets up just in time to block on of their attacks, but has to take a hit with a mace to her left shoulder, her bones making a rather unpleasant sound as pain hits her nerves. Cara on the other hand is trapped with the bulk of the horde, which react in a similar matter. The agile feline manages to evade most attacks, but takes an axe to her upper thigh, blood quirting from it.
