Flora smiles and flicks her tails lightly as she moves through the courtyard, towards a small, sectioned off part. Her private gathering-area that none of the employees are permitted to enter without her permission.
Right now, there are even two guards stationed to keep beings just a little further away, only allowing Flora and Sveta to pass, before the feline gestures towards the cushioned, stone benches besides the stone table, all of them of course, erected with earth magic in days past.
Even with Flora supporting her and the leg braces helping, walking is hard for Sveta, the goshawk tottering alongside the tigress, occasionally stopping to lean against a wall or catch her breath. It's not so much the pain, which is bearable, but walking even such a short distance out of bed is awfully enervating - not to mention the near-constant lightheadedness which plagues her these days. But by and large, Sveta makes it to one of the seats and plops down, almost instantly collapsing forward onto the table as she does so.
Flora sighs and gently helps Sveta sit up straight again, before signalling for some food to be brought towards one of the two guards standing.
Soon after, though, she takes her own seat, and places two objects on the table.
The first, a seemingly unassuming coil, not unlike those used in the smaller clocks, albeit a little... Odd. One side of the coil has a completely different color than the other.
The other one is a stone tablet, with some sort of fire-kevinscope etched into it, although it appears non-functional in Flora's hands. "Flora copied this from one of the books on magic, yes... It should make the stone heat up... It doesn't do anything whenever Flora tries it."
Sveta looks up groggily at the object Flora's holding, gently refusing the food for now. "No, thanks. I haven't been able to keep anything down this morning. But what's that in your hand?" A little bit of life works its way into her gaze. "Pardon me, I've been out of the loop...gold and silver? You put those two together, and...?"
Flora smiles, before gesturing towards the stone. "Flora will show... But first, the stone will need to heat, yes," she rumbles, before gesturing at the coil. "Flora will allow the coil to show its non-magical magic itself, yes... But first, we require warmth!" the she-cat murrs with a grin, tail flicking.
Sveta does her best to try and follow Flora's enthusiasm despite her body telling her otherwise. She's clearly up to something, on the verge of some discovery, and it wouldn't do to ruin her mood. Forcing a smile on her beak, Sveta straightens and watches the coil...well, like a hawk.
"Flora... Can't really do anything so long as the rune isn't working, friend Sveta... Unless friend Sveta feels like heating the coil herself, yes... Flameless heat would work a lot better, yes yes," she mumbles after a while, her tails still swaying lightly behind her, before smiling expectantly as she waits for Sveta to do something.
Sveta smiles weakly. "I'm sorry. I let my attention lapse. Heat, you say? Then heat you will have." Thankfully, simple warmth isn't the most complicated of mathemagics, as is the rune, and with a little focus and concentration, the rune begins to warm. Unsure of how much heat is needed, Sveta continues to slowly but steadily increase the temperature, waiting for Flora to tell her to stop at any time.
Flora smiles, before placing the coil on top of the stone, where it... Begins to twist in on itself further, completely by itself. "Miss Sara discovered this... We can do things with it, yes," the she-cat rumbles softly, grinning broadly... "There is of course, the matter of making these in larger quantities... These are carefully brazed. It may be better if we can do it on a larger scale, yes," the she-cat murrs softly, her ears flicking.
Sveta nods silently, watching the coil turn in on itself. More heat, and it turns one way, a contant temperature and it stops moving, and when she lets it cool off, it slowly unwinds. The goshawk repeats this process a few times until she's satisfied the results are reproducible, at which she gives a small nod. "An interesting discovery. Have you tried it on other metals? If not, I'd like to send word down to the production floor to experiment a little. Gold and silver is a bit costly, and if we can get equal results with other metals..."
