Once reaching the house, she sticks close to the wall and begins trying to move around the house. And indeed, it seemed he had been pressuring for more workers to be fired, and apostates to BE hired. It seemed like good PR, and he was making a great ton of money from the quarry losing less to workers!

This was looking more and more promising! She folds the report in half and tucks it away with her book, noticing the letter. Oh ho? She couldn't pass up looking at that, so she picks it up, intent on discovering just what was writ.<br> <br>Sure enough, it appears to be an honest to god authorization for protest, dated for the same time and place as the one outside of the city, and even held Gregor's name upon it! Seems the ram was telling the rightful truth that Dennris had shown him this... But -why- would he have lied about it, and seen the ram go through so much?<br> <br>Cassidy's grin grows ever wider. This. This was the kind of thing she was looking for. Not the best, but damn good. And so she tucks that way, looking around for a blank paper and for his quill and inkwell. Surely a study would have such, and she had a message of her own to write. All the while, she was looking around for any other suspicious items that had escapes her the first few times.<br> <br>Oh what luck indeed, not only does she find the ink and quil... But the damnable fool's journal tucked right next to it all! Granted it had a combination lock upon it, but such a thing could be dealt with! But most certainly, anything he had thought was written down in here...

+ | Soon enough though, from the window of the study she'd be able to catch a glimpse of the fat hippo making his way back onto the grounds. A group of two fellows with him, as it seemed he would be entertaining guest...<br> <br>Cassidy quickly stows the journal away. This was a difficult choice she had to make... To remain and eavesdrop and risk everything... Or to get out while she could? Regardless, they would know someone was here, with the missing things and the pig. True subtlety was lost, but... Well. She took that quill, ink, and paper and wrote out a single word in elegant script. 'Naughty'. And to finish, she produced two feathers from her bag. She had no clue if this would work, but it was sure to raise uncomfortable questions, given events of the past. She sets those feathers down below the word in a cross formation and turned to leave the way she came, being sure to lock the door behind her after a quick peek to make sure nothing was waiting for her on the other side.<br> <br>Indeed it seems her path was unblocked, as soon she'd hear the voices entering into the house proper as Dennris' voice calls out to his friends. "Yes lads yes, I shall join you in a moment. Merely allow me to get the bottle of brandy from my study hmmm~?" His heavy foot steps soon taking him to the stairs...<br> <br>Cassidy perks up as she hears those words. The tiny fennec is swift and silent on her paws, scurrying down the hall and into the bedroom, over the pig, and towards the window. She flashes a grin. She was almost home free. <br> <br>The sound of the Hippo walking up the stair halts for a moment, as he seems to catch the pitter patter of her feet! His voice calling out slowly. "Darla? Is that you? I told you to leave early today! You know my wife doesn't like you around when she is out for the night!" The voice sounding annoyed as it begins to travel up the stairs faster...<br> <br>Cassidy pauses for a moment and twirls the keyring around her finger for a moment, tossing it towards the door and tucking her dagger away. "She is fine." It's all she says before she kicks up a bit of air math to launch herself out of the window and into the night sky. If it works, she'll likely be little more than a streak of black on black in her escape.<br> <br>As Cassidy speaks Dennris' voice raises to a frightening loud yell... "INTRUUUUUUDER!" Though he's far to late to halt her, as she's left to freely propell herself out the window and into the night sky happily, the guards looking perplexed, with the sparrow pointing and yelling a moment too late...<br> <br>Cassidy carries herself far, soaring clear out of the city walls. By the time anyone realized what had happened, she'd be gone. And it was smooth sailing from her. She had a change of clothes waiting for her in the forest, and Cassidy the noble always did have a habit of wandering off and showing up around the city at odd hours. And she had things to do... Like getting this book open.[[Category:RPLogs]] |

The noble district is quite this night, with only the occassional guard patrols seeing light spawn into the roads. The houses themselves for the most part seem to be winding down, as most are snuffing their flames and lamps to turn in for the night.
The Guards outside of Dennris Good's house seem less than enthused about their need to be there, the Large hippo himself passing by them on his way out. "Keep up the good work gentlemen, and a raise in crowns by weeks end. If any come for me, inform them I shall be in the council chambers." The Hippo nodding shortly before he makes his way through the street to the castle...
Cassidy watches the manor quietly from atop the roof of one of the others, garbed in her black and sporting her mask. What was the best way to go about this? She eyes the two guards at the gate, then the sparrow on the roof, humming softly to herself. It certainly seemed suspiciously locked down. She knew a thing or two about noble paranoia, but this seemed a bit... Much for her. Most thugs wouldn't chance a theft of the royal line. She scowls softly and moves quietly along the roof tops, keeping her eyes locked on the sparrow. That was the one she had to watch out for, but she didn't want to kill anyone if she could avoid it, but she wasn't sure she could get across the yard that way. So she hops off the roof and lands outside the wall and starts sprinting quietly along towards the back of the house. She could leap over from the other side, where the one on the roof would hopefully not be able to see her.
In the darkness, it seems her movements are unkown to the guards of the manor, leaving her free to travel as she pleased... Though caution must be had, as around the wall he had a stone walk way put in to being... Meaning that if she was not careful, she'd soon be telegraphing to the sparrow her presence!
Cassidy closes her eyes and settles herself down on the ground for a moment, back against the wall. She didn't want to take any chances, so she reached around into her small satchel and withdrew a roll of cloth, rather like a bandage. Rather than binding a wound, she wrapped it around her paws, instead, helping to ensure no errant clicks of her claws would give her presence away. She did not want to be caught tonight. No, this was her chance to prove that she could be useful for once, and wasn't about to botch it. Satisfied with her work, she hops back up and continues around a little longer til she comes to a stop and takes a soft air-math assisted leap. Not to send her all the way over yet, no. Instead, she just grabbed onto the edge of the wall with her hands and slowly pulls herself up, peeking over the edge to make sure the sparrow wasn't watching her portion of the lawn.
For the most part, the sparrow didn't seem to notice the fennec's presence. Her peak having had happened as he was mid patrol on the roof, with his back to her. A small exchanging of words with the guards below taking his attention as well... Perhaps a joke? They did seem to be laughing. But from where she was right now, she had to move from the west of the house where she was currently located, to the south side where she had observed to gain entrance through the window... Or she could attempt the smaller servants door at the rear.
Cassidy sees her window of opportunity and goes for it. She pulls herself up on the wall and crouches low, kicking up another bit of air magic to propel her straight towards the house, trying to avoid touching the ground. Just in case it was trapped. Her opening wasn't on this side, but that was okay. She didn't need it to be. Her hazard was the yard. Once reaching the house, she sticks close to the wall and begins trying to move around the house. At her proximity, the sparrow should be keeping his eyes on the yard, and hopefully not on the house itself. Even if the roof itself didn't block his view of her. She just had to reach that open window she saw earlier and then it was a simple issue to gain entry. At least in her mind.
Her flight is thankfully graceful and quiet, and she even manages to not hit the house! The small woman left only to hear the cough of the Sparrow,as the overhang of the roof keeps her shielded from his view... Of course, the only difficult point now, would be getting to her entrance without the guards seeing her.
Cassidy was not too overly concerned about the other guards. Not yet, anyway. I mean, they'd be pretty lousy guards if they spent all their time staring at the house, wouldn't they? That's what the guard on the roof was for. So she moved along, staying cautious just in case. She had it planned out in her mind. Once she reached the window, a simple spell, one already prepared in the back of her mind, would carry her right up into it. The same spell she used so often for transportation.
Right she seemed to be, the only danger being when the two would talk to each other, prompting any movement in her side to be right in their field of vision... No doubt with the candle light in the window, her form would be highlighted, so she'd have to time it right and make it quick.
Cassidy watches the guards carefully, a thoughtful frown crossing her face. She conjures up a soft breeze to try to snuff out that candle without causing too much suspicion. That would at least help her sneak in. Afterall, when you leave a window open like that, such things tend to happen! That pesky wind is always blowing out exposed candles!
The Candle flickers and seem to die down some, but it doesn't completely snuff out for her sadly. But as it stands, it doesn't seem like the guards are talking much, their backs turning to the house completely as a pair of attractive hippo females make their way by...
Cassidy grimaces. Not quite what she wanted, but good enough! When their backs turn, she watches for just a moment to make sure the coast was clear before taking her leap. And this was the easy part! Once she was in, things were going to get a lot more difficult, most likely. Or easier, depending...
Her entrance goes unnoticed, as she's soon left inside of a dimly let bedroom... The only downside being the sweaty clothing laid out upon the bed from Dennris, as it seemed his maid didn't pick it up yet! No desks or anything aside from the bed, the dresser, and an empty night stand abide in the room... So he must keep paperwork elsewhere. Directly across from where she entered is a door opened ajar, with a small stream of light filtering thrue from candles in the hallway.
Cassidy adjusts her mask and glances around the room, sniffing softly. She wasn't entirely surprised to not find what she was looking for in here. No self respecting member of the upper class has a manor without a designated study room! Or several. She draws her spirirt-blessed dagger and flips it around, holding it in an icepick grip as she approaches the door. Nudging it open slightly more, she peeks outside to see if anyone was around.
A low humming comes from the hallway, as the maid in question seems present. A large pig female, dressed in a rather expensive looking outfit, was busy shinning the brass along the way to the left of the hallway. Meaning that anything to the right, beyond the door that cassidy couldn't see, was probably safe and free... The only difficulty would be moving without alerting to the woman... She did seem the type to squeel for help after all.
Cassidy watches quietly for a moment before withdrawing across the room again, reaching out with gloved fingers to snuff out that candle properly. Given the proximity of the maid and the fact that this room was still uncleaned, she figured she would soon be making her way in. And that was what she was hoping for, and banking on. With the fire snuffed out, she slinks back across now darkened room to hide behind the door, against the wall. It was unlikely she would be spotted when the pig came in. Assuming she did. If she didn't, Cass figured she'd depart the immediate area anyway.
As the woman makes her way down the hallway, and finally to the door... Cassidy is unforntate enough to be on the recieving end of the door swining open to smack into her and bounce back. The pig blinking some as she moves it before seeing Cassidy! Her face taking on a fearful shock as she seems ready to deliver a scream that'll make an opera singer jealous!
Cassidy grimaces. She didn't want to be seen. Not already. Nor could she let that woman cry out, so with a wave of her hand she prepares a spell to silence her on the spot. She couldn't yell without air in her lungs, and it would hopefully takes care of her consciousness, too, without her having to act further. She still did not want to kill, however.
At the wave Cassidy's hands, and right as the woman was about to scream, she's soon cut short as all the air is dragged from her lungs rather painfully! A loud thud prevailing as she falls to the ground unconcious, and with only a slight twitch to show she was still alive... But, on the other hand her way was still clear, and hopefully she didn't get a good luck at Cassidy's mask!
Cassidy pauses briefly to check the pulse, murmuring an apology before turning to go. She could not linger, but nor could she chance going too fast and slipping up. Creeping out of the room to see what was about, looking for any doors, or guards, that might be about, still.
As she'd exit the room, she'd notice the hall to her left led to a corner, and brighter lights as the cieling itself seemed illuminated as well... Perhaps a stairs? To her right she'd notice the way goes for a bit farther, before terminating at another door, with two doors flanking it on the right and left of the hall. Sadly no markings upon it.
Cassidy bites her lip. It certainly wasn't an ideal situation. She rather wished she had tried to dig up floor plans for the building before attempting such a thing, but all the same she took off towards the right. Flanking doors were usually more minor things, and a study was not often 'minor'. But all the same she pauses outside of the doors, pressing her ear to central door, listening for any sounds within.
No sounds come from within the door, as it seems whatever was on the other side was relativly empty. As well, no light seemed to shine fromt he cracks, so that was a good sign as well! The only quesion now was -what- was beyond the door...
Cassidy decided to find that out without much hesitation. She tries to open the door, slowly. Checking for any traps or trip wires that might await her on the other side before trying to catch a glance of what was within, holding her dagger at the ready all the while.
Unfortunatly for her, the door didn't budge. A dull thud as the lock hit the confines of it's wall all that herald the fact she was effectivly faced with a dead end without a key. The question then raises what's behind the door, how valuable was it, and then how to -get- behind the door!
Cassidy scowls softly as the door doesn't budge. That's a good sign, at least! Might be something worth checking out. She kneels down and digs up her lockpicking tools, setting to work. She quickly finds that this isn't going to work and is just wasting her time, so she swiftly pulls back and skitters back down the hall. Perhaps the maid had a key? She was going to find out!
The door just stood there, as if mocking the lockpicks all throughout her efforts... Clearly, Denris hired an excellent locksmith. Thankfully nobody seemed to be moving through the home, as Cassidy makes her way back to the passed out maid... And sure enough, there under her frock was a ring of keys!
Cassidy smiles and silently praises her luck, while taking a moment to do something she had neglected earlier: Binding and gagging the woman, in case she awoke early. Her work done, she set off back towards that door in the hallway, looking over the keys and testing the most likely candidates first.
It doesn't take long to bind and gag the woman, and soon enough with the aid of those keys she has that door open in a jiffy! Showing off a room filled to the brim with books, and a heavy wooden desk coated in papers with Dennris' seal upon it. A single candle by the door provides dim illumination to the room as well...
Cassidy grins to herself and steps in, shutting the door and locking it again from the other side. If anyone came by, it'd help to make it look like the room had been left as it was. After that, she moves towards the desk, glancing over the books as she goes before pausing to look over the papers. She hoped this trip wouldn't be for naught. There was corruption afoot! She knew it! She knew it, but no one else did. She just had to find the proof.
As Cassidy begins to look over the desk, most of the papers do seem rather frivilous... Though, she'd soon stumble upon a small ledger beyond the books. It appeared to be a financial ledger, and if she opened it her suspicions would be confirmed, as it seemed it contained almost a years worth of information! The only question, was could she decipher it all for good information?
Cassidy scoops up the ledger and leafs through it, grinning faintly beneath her mask. She planned on taking it with her, but first she had to determine its worth! She flipped towards the more recent entries, skimming them over for anything suspicious. If she found it, then it would indeed warrant deeper looks.
It doesn't seem out of order at first, until further investigation turns up an interesting fact... It indeed seemed as though the royal member in question had invested a large sum in the quarry, though this was right before the apostates started working there. A small mark next to it, seems fresher and indicates a pluss to his return... Did he use the apostates to try and get a cheaper work force so he could net a bigger return from his investment? Perhaps there were some more reports around...
Cassidy bites her lip and snaps the book shut, setting it in her satchel as she looks about the desk again, and the room itself. Any information was good information, but she wanted a concrete tie to some kind of cultist activity! That would be a great find! But she'd settle for anything brow-raising and question provoking.
Amid the papers, she does come across the report regarding the quarry... And indeed, it seemed he had been pressuring for more workers to be fired, and apostates to BE hired. It seemed like good PR, and he was making a great ton of money from the quarry losing less to workers!
However, the better find is just below it as it seems a seems a formal letter was written, with Dennris' seal upon it... Now what was this?
Cassidy licks her lips, grinning. This was looking more and more promising! She folds the report in half and tucks it away with her book, noticing the letter. Oh ho? She couldn't pass up looking at that, so she picks it up, intent on discovering just what was writ.
Sure enough, it appears to be an honest to god authorization for protest, dated for the same time and place as the one outside of the city, and even held Gregor's name upon it! Seems the ram was telling the rightful truth that Dennris had shown him this... But -why- would he have lied about it, and seen the ram go through so much?
Cassidy's grin grows ever wider. This. This was the kind of thing she was looking for. Not the best, but damn good. And so she tucks that way, looking around for a blank paper and for his quill and inkwell. Surely a study would have such, and she had a message of her own to write. All the while, she was looking around for any other suspicious items that had escapes her the first few times.
Oh what luck indeed, not only does she find the ink and quil... But the damnable fool's journal tucked right next to it all! Granted it had a combination lock upon it, but such a thing could be dealt with! But most certainly, anything he had thought was written down in here...
Soon enough though, from the window of the study she'd be able to catch a glimpse of the fat hippo making his way back onto the grounds. A group of two fellows with him, as it seemed he would be entertaining guest...
Cassidy quickly stows the journal away. She sets those feathers down below the word in a cross formation and turned to leave the way she came, being sure to lock the door behind her after a quick peek to make sure nothing was waiting for her on the other side.
Indeed it seems her path was unblocked, as soon she'd hear the voices entering into the house proper as Dennris' voice calls out to his friends. "Yes lads yes, I shall join you in a moment. Merely allow me to get the bottle of brandy from my study hmmm~?" His heavy foot steps soon taking him to the stairs...
Cassidy perks up as she hears those words. The tiny fennec is swift and silent on her paws, scurrying down the hall and into the bedroom, over the pig, and towards the window. She flashes a grin. She was almost home free.
The sound of the Hippo walking up the stair halts for a moment, as he seems to catch the pitter patter of her feet! His voice calling out slowly. "Darla? Is that you? I told you to leave early today! You know my wife doesn't like you around when she is out for the night!" The voice sounding annoyed as it begins to travel up the stairs faster...
Cassidy pauses for a moment and twirls the keyring around her finger for a moment, tossing it towards the door and tucking her dagger away. "She is fine." It's all she says before she kicks up a bit of air math to launch herself out of the window and into the night sky. If it works, she'll likely be little more than a streak of black on black in her escape.
As Cassidy speaks Dennris' voice raises to a frightening loud yell... "INTRUUUUUUDER!" Though he's far to late to halt her, as she's left to freely propell herself out the window and into the night sky happily, the guards looking perplexed, with the sparrow pointing and yelling a moment too late...
Cassidy carries herself far, soaring clear out of the city walls. By the time anyone realized what had happened, she'd be gone. And it was smooth sailing from her. She had a change of clothes waiting for her in the forest, and Cassidy the noble always did have a habit of wandering off and showing up around the city at odd hours. And she had things to do... Like getting this book open.
