Wulf gives a slight wince as she lifts her gun up to block the attack, the metal sliding down her rifles muzzle and to the ground. Taking the momentary advantage she kicks out with a leg and snaps the wood on one of the constructs legs and rolls backwards as the wooden contraption attempts to regain some semblance of balance. Now at a sufficent distance the Husky kneels and lifts her weapon up to bear, staring down the barrel at the wodden head and gently squeezes the trigger.... BOOM! Wodden splinters fly about as the constructs head explodes, sending peices of it flying into the refreshments and crowd. Gingerly, he pulls it free, licks it clean, and casually discards it just as Linnefer comes sllliding up to him, Kramer-style. "Well, you have to give it everything you've got, or it's not a proper test, right?" he offers, right before scooping a big handful of viddles up and shoving the whole mess into his maw.<br> <br>Wulf frowns and slings her now empty rifle over her shoulder as she moves to scoop up her dagger "Sorry, I get a bit excited, maybe you shouldn't make i... wait you named it Issabelle?"<br> <br>Walden likes food! At some point, a big stocky armadillo showed up with a plate gathering up food. He seems merely peripherally aware of the golem-smashing happening nearby. That is, until wood flies everywhere. Did anybody get hurt?" asks Walden, peeking around, making his presence known.<br> <br>The tester makes a few gestures, and some light from within 'Issabelle' dims, "Uh, yes. We should... proceed. Please, the head is an important portion of the golem, try not to... explode it." Right, that out of the way, he moves back to his incomplete line of golems, "This next one should be much harder to do that with, because it doesn't enter the battle. His speciality is elemental control." The next steps up, one leg sold stone, the other, flowing water, one arm nothing but wisps of cloud, the other, clearly on fire. "He can conjure and control up to four elementals at once to bring to bear on the target. Who wishes to face it?"<br> <br>Wulf nods and moves over to the buffet table "Eyeah... the head is important to most things, sorry bout that again." taking up a plate she begins to dig through the choices of food and piling them on her plate.<br> <br>Linnefer ponders her options, clapping her hands as she closes her eyes, pulling power from the bluestream. Leading it through her hands and weaving it into a transparent complex pattern of glowing cyan in front of her. Opening her eyes she keeps the hands stoll for a minute, "I could try it..." she answers to the tinkerer, allowing him to give the signal for the try before she finishes the pattern.<br> <br>Rainer is mid-shovel when the call comes for the next challenger, and by the time he's cleared his mouth to speak Linnefer has already stepped forward. With a pout he reclines back against the buffet table and restocks his plate, crossing left leg over right.<br> <br>Walden chuckles in amusement, offering a nod in greeting to Rainer. "Hey, buddy," the armadillo says to him with a smile. "Enjoying the sights? It's always fun to be on the outside of a bit of chaos looking in, isn't it?" He munches on a few bits of tasty food, seeming to be enjoying the buffet table more than the actual golem-testing.<br> <br>Linnefer drew the last line in the pattern, which turned dark blue as it was completed, spinning in a faster manner as a cloud of fog formed, growing in density until a vague shape of a humanoid made from water stood beside her. "Protege!" she yells at the shape already pulling on the bluestream again, her fingers drawing another pattern, that is not as complex, but yellowish. The Waterelemental follows the command, shielding its summoner against the first attacks of the golem. Steam boils up as the golems fire elemental clashes Linnefers water one. As the yellow glowing circle is complete it begins to swirl too, forming a dustcloud just in time to dissipate a stream of water. "occupate!" With a yell to both her elementals she directs them to keep the 4 enemies busy. And another time she pulls power from the bluestrem and leads it into the third pattern. It is huge and glowing red, complex and full of cleansing sigils. A Battlefield Purification. But she does not release it as she completes it, keeping the deep red glowing in front of her as she draws another sigil just in front of it - not as big and complex, but of the same red. The feared flame of the creator. Eventually she sees her possibility, as all the golems elementals are just out of the way - and so the Purifications mighty fireball detonates just in front of the golem, evaporating the golems water arm just before the flame of the creator strikes into its chest, burning the clay so totally dry that it breaks...<br> <br>The golem is not without its tricks. As the flame cooks it, the vapors of one of its arms forms into sudden divine numbers and lines, and a bright shield flickers to life before it, deflecting the last of the inferno and preventing additional harm. "Very good," says the scholar, "Very good, just the sort of response I was hoping for. Thank you very much."<br> <br>"Yeah, I suppose so." Rainer murmurs, giving the armadillo only a curt nod to return the greeting. "It does make for a good show, but if you want real excitement you gotta throw yourself right into the thick of it. Ha, which reminds me, I've got a great story I need to share with you some time, you'll never believe this creepy house I stumbled on in the woods the other day..." This one is specifically meant to work with other golems, or a living operator. His name is Stalwart Stan, and, in theory, nothing can get through or past him. He doesn't have much offensive ability, but he's basically a placable wall between you and the enemy, freeing you from having to worry about defense yourself." 'Stan' makes clubby look graceful, built out of bricks, or at least decorated like such, he rumbles forward with the sound of grinding stone and settles at the center of the stage. The scholar picks up a small target and sets it behind Stan, "The goal is to knock over the target. Who is up for it?"<br> <br>Linnefer draws in air as the tinkerer declares the battle completed, feeling the tiredness anddtrain the bluestream had on her. Sure, she had not had a complete victory as the fighter before her, but she did destroy one are totally and cracked its shell. "Thank you. Rainer is wasting no time this go around, clenching his fist and pumping it in the air, bounding forward while sending his plate clattering back onto the buffet table. Tis a fine fall day! The harvest is done and food is plenty. That's a good reason to roll out four menacing looking golems for testing, right? Probably not related. A scholar stands before them, speaking to the assembled crowd, "We are very proud of the golems we have made. They fight without fear, and have no vital force to be taken by the shadows, but they lack a certain finesse. We hope to test their mettle and refine it against true, thinking, trained, opposition."
Ryusho hums softly as he looks over the golems if he can see them as he rubs his head lightly, he had been hearing abou tthis as he hums softly, he had been actually very interested in their -construction- and was hoping in a way that maybe helping with this testing, could get him some knoledge about them for his own interests...
Rainer really only came for the food, but the opportunity to smash up academy property and not get in trouble for it is a nice bonus! Standing amongst those gathered, using the hilts of his dual swords as arm rests, the wolf nods along with the scholar's every word as he quietly. Edges. Towards. The. Buffet. "If they're at least as challenging as that Education Elemental was, this could be a halfways decent party~" he thinks aloud to himself, all smiles.
Wulf has found her way to the academy district, interested in how these golems work and the gadgetry required to animate and operate them as she normally is in most developments. Rubbing her chin as she listens to the speaker she ponders how something such as a golem would seriously work without a soul... probably somekind of the divine math no doubt.
With a gesture, the most bulky of the golems steps forward, with great clubs for hands, "Our first design. He is designed to deliver basic crushing blows on anything he is directed at. Simple, but we hope effective. Who would care to give him a proper testing?"
Ryusho rubs his chin as he looks around, "I suppose I can give it a go for testing, Unless someone else would like to give this one a try, I admit I am almost as interested in their workings and watching, rather then actually combatting them directly..."
Rainer starts to raise his hand when the dragon speaks up, and so bows gracefully and gestures Ryusho ahead. More time for him to check out the spread!
Wulf continues rubbing her chin, studying the construct for any structural weaknesses or exposed parts before she even decides on fighting the construct. "Gimme a moment, best to know yer enemy before you confront it."
The bulky golem has the advantage of being... bulky. He lacks in obvious exposed mechanisms because he's built quite solidly, though probably not all that fast with all that armoring in place. A heavy, front line, crushing machine by all measure.
Wulf sighs "Well this dagger of mine ain't gonna do much iffen there isn't a weakspot somewhere..."
Wulf gestures for the dragon man to go ahead "So be my guest I'll get another one."
Ryusho would move forward, waiting though he mrphs as it would move forward, as he readies himself, though shifting his weight he waits, shifting to one side, then the other, stepping quickly to the side as the first club comes down about where his head would of been a moment before, and narrowly avoiding it clipping his side and leg, the large tegu showing supprising mobility as it begins to recover from that swing, using the other arm to swing at a downwards angle, as he steps back towards the first arm, though then caught off for a moment as it -yanks- said arm upwards, causing the Tegu to twist his body, adjusting his balance, and turning, the semi-sideways slung club moving past him narrowly, as the other is still being -recovered, though on the third swing at an angle, as he dives -under- the arm, with it nearly grazing his side he notices something out of the corner of his eye, the dragon moving, and waiting as he readies his sword after a moment or two, adjusting his grip upon it, so as the large golem turns and brings the arm up to swing down, he runs -forward- almost ramming into it as he brings his sword around, and upwards, jamming it powerfully into the 'armpit, and pushing to force the blade in as close to fully as possible, as he wrenches the blade left and right a bit with the force applied.
Rainer marvels at the spectacle, even throws out a little applause for Ryusho. "Who'd have thought something that big could move that fast? Heh!" And you know he's impressed, 'cuz he's even forgotten about the food, temporarily!
Loud grinding noises emerge from the golem as whatever machinations allow it motion disagree with the sword trapped in it. Probably not good for golem or sword really. The scholar waves at the golen with a finger gesture, making it pause, "Well fought indeed. You are a credit to the Creator's own designs, which ours are bit shallow imitations," he says reverently, "We'll have to adjust for that, yes, thank you very much."
Wulf smirks and reaches up to an ear, rubbing at it lightly "Well ye can't say that all the big folk are slow now can ya? Well done mister."
Ryusho shifts and slowly begins trying to work and get the sword out as he mrphs, "..can you get it to lift it's arm -just- a bit, if it can, I believe that it has currently pinned it with the arm and torso ..so I can get it out after it lifts the arm slightly..."
The next golem steps forward. Almost the opposite of the first, it's all long flowing limbs, narrow and curved, balancing on stilts almost as it moves with a long gait. "This golem focuses on speed and dexterity. She is capable of delivering fast crippling blows and getting away before being counter attacked, or so is the idea. Who feels up to giving her a round?" The club golem and sword are separated and clubby is allowed to return to his place in the line.
Rainer looks to Wulf and gestures at the golem, smiling. "You looked pretty eager to go, so... by all means. But I call dibs on next."
Wulf nods at Rainer "All righty... I'll take this 'un then." her dagger slides out of it's sheath and her musket is moved so it's strap won't have a chance to fall as she steps foreward, looking the golem up and down, her stance dropping low and her long dagger poised to strike.
The two approach one another, both nimble warriors. slender blade arm swings out, ducked by Wulf. Blade reaches towards the golem's center, but she rolls to the side, avoiding the incoming dagger and sweeping her arm down, leaving a light cut at Wulf's leg. The two circle one another before clashing anew, golem starting with a blazingly fast thrust that gives Wulf a fresh shave, but leaves it open to a counter attack, scoring a light line across its torso, which seems to be made of wood, not metal, as it appeared at first.
Rainer plucks up a plate and covers it with all the food it can hold as Wulf is approaching the golem. Every move of their dance is accompanied by a new morsel being pushed into his mouth, his eyes repeatedly widening as the husky goes from one close shave to the next, seeming a pretty even match for the construct. "Adventuring Rule #11!" he calls through a mouthful of bread, "Go for their knees!"
The husky drops her dagger and hops backwards, her musket strap sliding off her shoulders and the rifle finding it's way to her hands. This pause of getting it out into her hands taking up some valuable time as the golem swings it's weapon at her again in an overhead slice. Sighing the girl stands back up, her chest rising and falling as the adreniline keeps coursing through her "Your right, go for the knees, but if you want the kill then aim for the head if it has one, at least that's how it should work."
An alarmed gasp comes from the scholar running the event. The golem staggers left, right, then topples over lifelessly. "Issabella!" he cries, running over to the downed machine, clearly upset.
Ryusho sighs softly as he facepalms, "..The goal is to test how they -FIGHT- not to destroy them..." he says softly, "These are some of the first prototypes..and you just.." he sighs as he goes over as well, trying to get a look, maybe he can help try to find some repairs even though he is not the most familiar with golem crafting yet...
Linnefer enters the academy district, her robes swaying around her form as the tigress rushes to what is heard loudly through half the city. As she tries to stop she slides over the area a bit, facepalming as it seems that one of the machines they played with got destroyed "comeon... That sounded like the city is under attack and this is just a test?" she asks the next person she can spot.
Rainer stares at the large husk of wood now protruding from the top of the food pile upon his plate, blinking slowly. Gingerly, he pulls it free, licks it clean, and casually discards it just as Linnefer comes sllliding up to him, Kramer-style. "Well, you have to give it everything you've got, or it's not a proper test, right?" he offers, right before scooping a big handful of viddles up and shoving the whole mess into his maw.
Wulf frowns and slings her now empty rifle over her shoulder as she moves to scoop up her dagger "Sorry, I get a bit excited, maybe you shouldn't make i... wait you named it Issabelle?"
Walden likes food! At some point, a big stocky armadillo showed up with a plate gathering up food. He seems merely peripherally aware of the golem-smashing happening nearby. That is, until wood flies everywhere. "...Oh, that looks dangerous. Did anybody get hurt?" asks Walden, peeking around, making his presence known.
The tester makes a few gestures, and some light from within 'Issabelle' dims, "Uh, yes. Who wishes to face it?"
Wulf nods and moves over to the buffet table "Eyeah... the head is important to most things, sorry bout that again." taking up a plate she begins to dig through the choices of food and piling them on her plate.
Linnefer ponders her options, clapping her hands as she closes her eyes, pulling power from the bluestream. Leading it through her hands and weaving it into a transparent complex pattern of glowing cyan in front of her. Opening her eyes she keeps the hands stoll for a minute, "I could try it..." she answers to the tinkerer, allowing him to give the signal for the try before she finishes the pattern.
Rainer is mid-shovel when the call comes for the next challenger, and by the time he's cleared his mouth to speak Linnefer has already stepped forward. With a pout he reclines back against the buffet table and restocks his plate, crossing left leg over right.
Walden chuckles in amusement, offering a nod in greeting to Rainer. "Hey, buddy," the armadillo says to him with a smile. "Enjoying the sights? It's always fun to be on the outside of a bit of chaos looking in, isn't it?" He munches on a few bits of tasty food, seeming to be enjoying the buffet table more than the actual golem-testing.
Linnefer drew the last line in the pattern, which turned dark blue as it was completed, spinning in a faster manner as a cloud of fog formed, growing in density until a vague shape of a humanoid made from water stood beside her. Eventually she sees her possibility, as all the golems elementals are just out of the way - and so the Purifications mighty fireball detonates just in front of the golem, evaporating the golems water arm just before the flame of the creator strikes into its chest, burning the clay so totally dry that it breaks...
The golem is not without its tricks. As the flame cooks it, the vapors of one of its arms forms into sudden divine numbers and lines, and a bright shield flickers to life before it, deflecting the last of the inferno and preventing additional harm. "Very good," says the scholar, "Very good, just the sort of response I was hoping for. Thank you very much."
"Yeah, I suppose so." Rainer murmurs, giving the armadillo only a curt nod to return the greeting. "It does make for a good show, but if you want real excitement you gotta throw yourself right into the thick of it. Ha, which reminds me, I've got a great story I need to share with you some time, you'll never believe this creepy house I stumbled on in the woods the other day..." He trails off as Linnefer begins her assault on the golem's elemental army, and applauds her performance politely when all is said and done.
Wulf gives a wince as she watches the magic go shooting about, blinking and giving small cough, keeping her food from heading down the wrong pipe as the magic does it's work for both parties. Offering some applause to the tigress at the end. "Good show."
Ryusho would slowly clap as he admires this, "YOu know this is interesting to watch.." he says softly, "Though I am glad I got to try one already, as it looks like I will not get another go with how many people are here." he says with a soft chuckle, "but thats a good thing, a variety of combat styles and builds to test against.."
"Time for the last golem. This one is specifically meant to work with other golems, or a living operator. Who is up for it?"
Linnefer draws in air as the tinkerer declares the battle completed, feeling the tiredness anddtrain the bluestream had on her. Sure, she had not had a complete victory as the fighter before her, but she did destroy one are totally and cracked its shell. "Thank you. I did my best, but it seems it was not powerful enough." she replies to Ryusho. Bowing a bit towards the golems she walks to the tables, looking what still was there and edible for a tigress like her.
*and drain
Walden claps his hands in appreciation for the fine magical display! He chuckles quietly and nods to Rainer. "Creepy house in the woods, hmm? I wonder if I've heard of this house. But yes, you must tell me all about it!" he says with a grin. Then he nods to Ryusho and says to him, "I'm more curious about how they work, personally, rather than... than beating them myself."
"Alright!" Rainer is wasting no time this go around, clenching his fist and pumping it in the air, bounding forward while sending his plate clattering back onto the buffet table. "Finally a challenge worthy of Rainer, Explorer Extrordinaire!" he barks with a confident laugh, giving a showy twirl of his wrists before seizing hold of the handles of his two swords and nudging them out of their scabbards just enough for their blades to gleam in the afternoon sun.
Wulf offers Linnefer half of her plate of smoked meats "Sorry, we ate mosta the meats already so you can have a little bit ta fill yer belly, after a strain like that I'm sure yer gonna need it."
Ryusho rolls his eyes a bit, "Ahhh the overconfident, This should be good..."
Linnefer politely shakes her head at the offer, taking a piece of meat that was still untouched. "it is ok. Finders keepers." she replies as she puts it on a table, cutting it small before she begins to eat it in small pieces.
Wulf frowns and gives a small shrug "All right but iffen ya change yer mind the offers on the table." setting her plate down she turns to the stage to watch as she slides her musket off to reload it, she has to do it sometime after all. "Still, that was a nice showin."
Walden shakes his head and taps on the buffet table. "Oh, come on, don't just eat the meats. Everything else is so gooood. Enjoy the fruits of the labor of our hard-working farmers!" he says with a cheesy grin. He's enjoying them, that's for sure. "Heh. Go Rainer!"

Wulf chuckles and nods at Walden before turning back to watch Rainer dance around and get stopped from touching the target "That's true friend, but veggies aren't my favorite meal and I already had some fruits."

Wulf snerks "I grew up in the country, I left cause I didn't want ta grow the things I didn't really like, cides pa had us hunt critter and pests for our food... that way he could sell and tithe mosta the crop."
Rainer hobbles back to the table and uses it to prop himself up, huffing and heaving. "Coulda... mentioned it could do that before hand..." he mumbles to himself, turning his attention back to the golem display as Ryusho steps up to bat.
Walden snickers and covers his mouth, holding back laughter. "Oh dear," he says to Wulf. "Really now? That's pretty funny. Well... I guess I do have my mom to thank for my appreciation for food. She'd smack us nice and good if we refused to eat something. And sure enough, by eating it, I learned to love it!" The armadillo lifts his hand and wiggles fingers at Rainer in re-greeting. "Welcome back! That was a very entertaining show, Rainer!"
Wulf smiles "Ah it's no skin off my back for not likein certain vegetables. Really just the veggies I like is the stuff that can go ina stew like carrots an potatoes."
