A sunlit summer morning, now beginning to border on cool as autumn approaches. The sunlight creeps in through the window of Sveta's room, illuminating the goshawk in her red nightgown, still snoozing on the bed. Ordinarily, she'd have been up hours ago, but it seems her recent injuries have sapped her energy some - curled up in a warm ball of fluff and feathers, the goshawk hugs a pillow as she murmurs in her sleep, clearly a substitute for the empty spot on the bed next to her.

The faint scent of roses and fireblossoms wafts through the air from a dying candle - seems like Sveta's resorted to trying scented wax in an attempt to clear her head, with some modicum of success. Not as much as she would like, of course, but one can't win them all. Trace, of course, has been out of bed for a while, prepping a breakfast of sorts for Sveta that is currently kept fresh underneath a silver cloche, standing besides her bed.

The kite himself has already left the mansion after discussing matters with the High Lady, making sure that the priest he's fetching may enter... With a security-escort, of course.

At length, Sveta finally shifts and stirs, wings idly flapping as she murmurs and tries to sit up in bed. Finally taking account of her surroundings - the breakfast included - the goshawk makes a small chirping noise in the back of her throat. "He shouldn't have," she murmurs. "With the way I've been feeling lately, he's going to get fat from all the breakfasts he's eating for me." With not much appetite for the moment, she sets it aside. Maybe later.

A knock on the door, a soft rumble, and Trace moves into the room with a small, encouraging smile. "You should eat something, you know? No use starving yourself," he chirps softly, before stepping aside and waiting for the other to enter.

The other being a small-clanned coati wearing the traditional priestly robes.

"I'll try," Sveta says at the sound of Trace's voice, moving to blow out the stub of the scented candle. "I'm good at forcing myself to do things when I have the mind to." With a pleasant half-smile on her beak, Sveta pushes the meal a little further aside, then turns to the door...

...And the smile instantly fades as she takes into account just who is standing beside Trace. A muted whimper escapes the goshawk's beak as her eyes widen and she shrinks back a little into the bed, subconsciously huddling in on herself.

"Hon?" Trace mumbles a bit uncertaintly, before sitting down besides her. "I... I figured it might be a good idea to get a checkup... What with that red fever going about, and you not feeling well... I... I figured it was a good plan," he mumbles, gesturing for the priest to enter.

"It will only take a few minutes of your time, ma'am. And unlike the journeymen, our screening-methods are painless."

"I...I'm not ill...at least, I don't think I am. If I had the red fever that's going about, judging by what the town criers are saying about the symptoms, it'd be obvious." Sveta nods faintly towards the cast on her shoulder, then the two leg braces on the floor by the bed. "And I'm not afraid of pain, either. I just..." her wings folded protectively about herself, Sveta's eyes flick desperately this way and that, trying to find an escape route that doesn't involve lying to anyone, least of all Trace. "I've a pretty good guess as to what's with me, but didn't want to make guesses until I was sure..."

A small smile adorns Trace's beak, before he looks back to Sveta, nuzzling up against her. "Well then... This... This is the moment to be sure?" he mumbles after a bit of consideration, offering another smile towards her.

"Isn't it better to have certainty?" he finally offers, taking a moment to move besides her and chirping lightly.

"IF you want, I could also have a look at that leg and your arm, ma'am. Get you up and about," the coati offers with a geniune-looking smile.

"I..." Sveta reaches out for the comforting warmth of Trace's body, her grasp finding his hand and travelling up to his arm, although she still doesn't dare to look him in the eye. "Just...knowing you, don't freak out or anything, okay? This is your room too, you know. I've had enough brothers and sisters to make a guess, but..." she lets her voice trail off.

To the priest: "And no, I'd rather not be healed of my injuries that way. Save it for someone who needs it more."

"But?" Trace chirps softly, gently turning Sveta's beak to face him, while the priest sets up some things on his sacred doctor, silently and making sure to avert his eyes from the lovebirds for a moment.

"Whenever you're ready?" the priest finally mumbles, scrambling up on the bed after a moment of effort of scrambling up on the bed, before tapping the runes on the device in his hands. "This will only take a moment."

Sveta sighs and leans in, nibbling at Trace's face, trying to pull him closer with her good hand. "I'm scared. I don't know why, but I'm a little scared. Which I shouldn't be, considering I've faced down plenty in my life so far, but this is something different. I mean..." she thinks a moment, then gives up. "I can't quite put it in words."

With a sigh, she sinks back into the bed. "I'm ready. Do I have to do anything?"

"Just sit back and relax. Mister Trace, if you would please move aside for just a moment? Best not to contaminate the results," he calls out, before scanning over each being separately, including himself, with a light blue ray of light moving from head to toe.

Soon enough, he's recollected the device, and is looking over the results.

"Well. I can confirm that every being in this room is quite healthy. All five of us," he offers with a smile, watching the couple's reaction for the time being.

Sveta slowly lets go of Trace's arm and is silent for a while, quietly thinking.

"Oh," she says at last. "Well. That's more than I was expecting, but it does explain why I'm feeling so ill so early. I think." A trace of panic enters her eyes once more. "I don't know. It couldn't have been, could it? Just once? But it couldn't have been anytime else, either..."

A small smile adorns Trace's beak as he looks, a little dumbfoundedly, before nuzzling up against Sveta. "Well then... I suppose we should start making arrangements, then?" he chirps with a smile, even as the priest excuses himself.

"I shall... Leave the lovebirds alone for the time being. If you have any further questions, do stop by the church."

"Arrangements. Yes. I think...I'll leave those to you, Love. And the whole thing about me testing your potions? I think we'd better find another volunteer, or put that off." Sveta still isn't looking at Trace, although she seems a little less pensive now. "I...well, I suppose I've nothing better to do than lie in bed and brood, I suppose. I know I've taken care of enough of my brothers and sisters while they were stll young, but...well, they were my siblings. Not my own." She leans back into the pillow and closes her eyes. "I'll trust it all to you."

Trace smiles and nuzzles up against Sveta. "Lets halt that then, at least for now... As for the arrangements, I do want your input on that," the kite murmurs after a while, still nuzzling and smiling faintly.

"All of this is... A group-effort, so to speak," he mumbles, one arm wrapped around her shoulder carefully. "Now then... I think you should eat something. You're eating for three now, eh?"
