Rogna stands among the farm fields, ready to head an investigation team on accounts of a possible shadow spotting so very close to sweetwater. He holds a hand on a sword hilt and adjusts his cape, waiting for those who, if any, have answered his call to act on this matter.
Mazurek is one of those who have answered the call. Perhaps it is a little odd in his case, but in this instance he had chosen to arrive as a regular Iguana and not in his larger draconic form. That can change later if the situation demands it. He's completely dressed for the occasion, too. Shorts and a tank top here.
Moroko is picking at his armor absently frowning, "I think I'll have to go back to the old one." He says more to himself. Moroko as usual seems somewhat absentminded as he pads his way along adjusting his gear looking more like a scribe than adventurer of mystical powers. He does nod to the others as he arrives and smiles easily, if wolfishly, "Hello." He greets without fanfare.
Rogna smiles to Mazurek and Moroko. "Hello there as well. You are both here to aid in this invesigation? Our job is to find out if there is a shadow here at the moment, not to tackle it ourselves. Are you both prepared for this task?" he says as he looks over the two.
Mazurek nods, "I am, sir." Even though he's a bit smaller than before, his voice remains the same. He looks over toward the wolf and waves, "Hello to you as well. Ready to dance with this critter?"
Moroko inclines his head to Rogna, "It sounds like an interesting matter to research." He tilts his head to Mazurek, "I suppose there's no chance like the present hmm?"
Rogna pats Moroko on the shoulder and smiles. "Well lets get moving, theres a farmer further down the road who says he saw it earlier today. They can probably give us a good idea of what we're dealing with." With that, the royal born hippo leads Moroko down the road, fenced off crops and barns scatter their view. They stop in front of a rather run down looking farmhouse, where a young sparrow comes out with a pitchfork in hand. "Whatchall doin?" he says before looking the two over. "Well I take it you're them soulless lookin for that shadow? Seem to go hand in hand huh?" he laughs. Rogna smiles and nods to the avian. "Yes what can you tell us of what you saw good sir?"
Moroko braces himself under the pat and grunts but nods his head along, "It should make for an interesting study." He observes contently and follows Rogna along contently. He seems to fall into trailing the larger man easily. He smiles brightly at the sparrow that comes out, "Hello!" He says and then draws out his book and prepares to take notes, "Does it?" He asks about the hand and hand piece easily not seeming offended or concerned.
The farmer looks to Moroko and laughs. "Why don'tcha know bout the coincidental emergence of them thar shadow and soulless? Hand in hand I tell yah. I saw the black mass a shreddin that there field up." he says as he gestures a wing to a rather withered looking field. Besides being wilted most of it looks like it was cut down already. "You should check it out why don'tcha?"
Moroko considers the farmer and shrugs, "Well I'm not sure that I've seen the statistical proof that it's enetirely correlated but I'm sure I can't rule it out so any data you have to that effect would be useful." He nods then glancing towards the direction gestured by the wing. He winces and shrugs, "I suppose we must." He glances toRogna for a moment and then asks to the farmer, "Was it already chopped down before the descent?"
The farmer shakes his head and waves the two off. Rogna leads the way out to the fields, opening a gate instead of hiking himself over a fence, letting Moroko inside before closing it and heading out into the diced crops. He inspects the trampled and cut plants and looks to Moroko. "What do you think?" he says, unsure of what to say just yet."
Moroko hurries after Rogna and offers, "I think that it should be an interesting investigation. I see no reason why the farmer would wish to lie. At the same time it seems slightly... odd. Still without more data there is not much more one can do." He does glance around considering the area around him and considering his various earth magic spells trying to think up one useful to draw information from the plants.
Rogna spies a small mass of cackle and seems to be pondering ideas in his head. "That would be a more reasonable explanation, but cackle are a common sight for the farmers to mistake them for a shadow would be rather unheard of." Rogna looks around his surroundings again and then says "Shall we see where the destruction lads us? Surely it didn't just destroy this one section of crop."
Moroko nods at Rogna, "Following the path of the destruction seems the best way to see that whatever caused it is located and eliminated. I wonder if there is something to be garnered from the pattern." He begins sketching and seems pretty competent at walking and sketching as he glances around and makes notes on the sightings. "There must be a quicker way of doing so though. Locating it that is."
Rogna thinks carefully. "Well I would think the locations with the least Cackle would be the best choice, they wouldn't have a nead to be around the destroyed zones. If you have any knowledge of air magic perhaps you can employ it in some fashion to survey the local?"
Moroko admits, "Fire Magic is what I've been focusing on of late but my Air Magic isn't so bad at all." He nods as he considers the mathematics and begins studying the are as if to create the idea of how much distance to cover." He glances the sky eyeing it thoughtfully. He tilts his head sniffing and pausing and then inhaling deeply letting that action start as more wind than just his nostrils can account for begins blowing in as he casts his senses across the area.
Rogna watches the wolf, curious what they will come up with using their magic. Hopefully a lead that will bring them closer to the end of this investigation.
Moroko takes his time considering the area and then opens his eyes glancing towards Rogna, "There's larger destruction to the east." He describes the area as he takes the lead to move them in the direction. He does seem to tense slightly as if wary of more trouble.
No sooner has the group reached the location before they discover what appears to be a lone shadow. Rogna draws his sword and pulls Moroko backwards into the cover of the crops, only to be given away by a disturbed squirkik. "We must flee." Rogna says as he hurries the wolf backwards into the crop, taking the rear and watching the now slightly alert shadow in the wreckage.
Moroko blinks as he's pushed back stepping back and drawing the earth to him. His flesh hardening into additional protection as he steps back and begins to ready another spell but nods. If the large hippo says to go Moroko doesn't appear to question his judgment. He offers, "Fire should slow it down?" He asks as he lfits his staff hire in case it is needed.
Rogna begins to move as silently as possible. "It would also wreck the crop, we cannot risk the countries food in such a manner. We will return in force and fell the beast." he says in a hushed tone. He leads Moroko as swiftly and quitely as possible away from the situation at hand, eager to get back to firmament and report this find.
Moroko considers Rogna and frowns, "I don't like the idea of just leaving him out here. We'll have to send messengers out to the nearby farmers to be aware." He sighs for a moment, "You're undoubtedly correct. Still it irks me to leave it here to endanger them."
