It is hot and humid, even down underneath the great arena. Beings of all shapes and sizes mill around in the gladiator pit, waiting for their turn in the arena. Even from here, the muffled cheering of the crowds above can be heard. Many fighters in search of glory and honor are gathered here, drawn by the call of the arena.

Kazel enters the waiting area of the arena in her typical slow, yet firm stride. The bat is wearing her typical linen and leather outfit and seems to be heavily armed. She quickly signs the necessary papers with a smirk on her lips and gets in line to wait for her turn.

The warrior woman does not have to wait long. It is not long before her name is called and the great gate is opened to allow her on to the blazing sand.

The arena is enormous! Beings fill the stands in waves of cheering, waving figures and along the great, curving wall is a statue of a massive, draconian beast, bedecked in weapons and armor like bits of jewelry. The huge black statue perches over the sand that glitters in the afternoon light and an anouncer in a box begins to speak.

"GLORY AND HONOR!" shouts the distant being, his voice augmented with air magic, "GLORY AND HONOR! WHO STANDS IN THE ARENA OF HEIOUR?"

Kazel shouts back at the being and the crowd, augmenting her voice through air magic as well and spreading her arms wide. "KAZEL SILVERWING, WHO IS HERE TO DEFEAT ANYTHING YOU CAN THROW AT HER." With that the bat raises her outstretched arms a few times in various directions to heat up the mood of the watchers, her confident smirk back on her face.

A chuckle like an avalanche fills the arena and the great statue raises its head. It's glowing red eyes look down at Kazel and its gargantuan jaws open in a nightmare of a smile. "VERY WELL, LITTLE MORTAL," comes its voice, echoing from the walls and within the skull, "FOR GLORY AND HONOR!"

The gate on the far side of the arena opens and a huge beast lunges out. It seems feline, only heavier, with a build much like a bull and horns to match, though it moves with fluid grace. It's golden scales ripple and shine in the sunlight and its huge, black claws dig into the sand. It looks around, wild eyed until it spots Kazel and bounds across the sand with a shriek!

Kazel draws a staff from her back and after giving it a swift wave, a blade springs up at the top of the weapon, revealing it to be a scythe. The bat sprints into the direction of the beast, aiming to run past it by just a foot or two, well into the range for an attack with her weapon.

The lithe beast is not put off by the charging bat and tosses its horned head as she dashes by to gain position, trying to gore her!

Kazel quickly jumps out of the way, assisted by a beat of her wings. The bat uses air magic to change her direction while still in the air and propels herself into the direction of the beast's hind legs, her weapon of choice for huge beasts like this still firmly in her hands.

The bat's slashing strike hits home, cutting a deep swath along the beast's flank and elliciting a snarl of rage! Fast as lighting, the monster spins and slashes at Kazel's head with a trencher sized paw!

Kazel rolls under the blow of the beast, escaping the paw narrowly, but untouched. The bat makes use of the missed attack by charging once more. She readies her scythe and is going for the beast's neck.

Kazel's attack lands and leaves a vicious ribbon of blood and sliced tissue from the creature's nose to halfway down its flank and the sand is stained red as the monster thrashes about! It is losing blood quickly, and foam drips from its jaws as it throws itself at the bat in one more deperate attack.

Kazel jumps to the side when the beast charges her once more. The bat once more goes for an attack on a hind leg, this time the other one, trying to keep the beast from moving around anymore.

The serpent cat crashes to the sand beneath Kazel's vicious blow, skidding to a halt and breathing heavily, foam and blood being devoured by the greedy sand.

"A FAIR START, LITTLE MORTAL," comes the dragon's rumbling voice, "GLORY AND HONOR! YOU SHALL HAVE YOUR REWARD." The crowd roars in approval of the fight in the unthinking bloodlust of crowds and mobs everywhere. The huge, glossy black dragon turns a blood red eye on Kazel. "I COULD ACCEPT ONE LIKE YOU INTO MY SERVICE," he says, "WOULD YOU CALL ON ME AND ANSWER MY CALL IN TURN?"

Kazel twirls around her scythe for a moment as the beast falls and the blade retracts. She had just sheathed it back as she hears the words of the spirit. "I would be most honored to be of your service, Lord Heiour. Grant me your strength and I shall slay your enemies as I have slayed this beast to bring honor to both of us."

The arena is once more filled with that avalanch sound of Heiour's laughter. When it dies away, there is only silence. The crowd stands frozen like statues in attitudes of cheering and booing, laughing, pointing, waving, they are all silent and immoble. Heieour, the great dragon, however, uncurls himself and steps down onto the sand with feline grace and paces toward Kazel, bending his face down until one blood red eye looks into the bat's face.

Kazel keeps her position, not moving even an inch as the giant dragon looks her right in her face. There is no fear in her eyes, only determination as she stares right back at the spirit's eyes.

The dragon's hot breath blows in Kazel's face as he speaks. "I BID YOU TO SEEK GLORY IN HONORABLE COMBAT," he roars, "And I offer you the chance and strength to test your skills against others. You will search the land, seeking foes worthy of combat, and testing yourself against them. Ever improving your skills, gaining glory through your trial. For my path is one of glory and skill, through hard fought battles and blazing victories." Heiour lifts his head, looking down at the woman. "WILL YOU ACCEPT MY PACT?"

Kazel raises her head to keep eye contact with the spirit. She speaks slowly but loud and clear. "I accept your pact, Lord Heiour." The bat decides to not lose any unnecessary words and just give this short answer.

Heiour nods his great head and raises a claw. "THEN I AM YOURS AND YOU ARE MINE," he says, "WHEN YOU CALL, I WILL COME. SO TOO, WHEN I CALL, YOU WILL COME. WE ARE BOUND." The great dragon lowers a claw that seems to pierce deep into Kazel's chest! No blood wells forth, but the bat's breast is filled with burning, as if a fire had been lit within her rib cage!

Kazel eyes go wide and she has to bring up all her strength to not cringe in pain as the spirit's claw pierces her chest. She takes a moment to open her mouth as to not let a shriek be the only thing to come out before she says, "Thank you, Lord Heiour."

The burning cools as suddenly as it came, leaving behind a scorched mark on the bat's breastplate. Kazel will also be surprised to find that she now wears a perfectly tailored gauntlet on one hand with a beautiful, glowing ruby placed on the thumb. "GLORY AND HONOR!" Heiour says and retakes his place on the wall. The crowd bursts back into noisy cheering as if that private moment had never happened.

Kazel nods at the statue and whispers, "Glory and Honor." Before taking a bow to the audience and raising her hands one more time before she leaves the sands of the arena.
