The fires still blaze hard as several mages work to put them out, but the orginal fire simply is not going out. It seems both magical and unnatural at the same time as if something is keeping the blaze going but also spreading it slowly. The district itself is in a state of pantic, no one saw it coming and the rumors of the cliffsiders has yet to be common place.

Zevran soars above the site of the fires on his new wings, using the updrafts of warm air to stay aloft without having to flap. As he spotted the original fire that was still burning, he scanned the ground around the area in an attempt to spot anything out of the ordinary. Of course, this was a bit difficult with all the rising smoke.

The fires smoke and smell of burning meat, wheat, and other food stuffs as the district continues to burn. Form the air, all Zevran gets is a face full of deep black smoke.

Zevran coughs in the smoke, quickly descending in an attempt to avoid suffocating. He lands in front of the area where the original fighting started and attempted to see if he could spot anything odd from the ground. He wasn't willing to go rushing into the fire for answers yet.

Around the mine fire, there what appears to be some sort of jar, and the flames continue to spread, but they seem to actually move with the water being used to put the fires out. Bringing the flames dangerously close to several other storage buildings.

Zevran looks towards the jar, thinking it odd. He also notes the behavior of the fire, and how it seems to move with the water. He glances along the path the fire takes, noting its proximity to other buildings with shock. "Hey, watch out for those other storage buildings!" He shouted, attempting to warn the mages trying to put out the fire. There was not much he could do to combat the fire at this point, so he attempted to make his way to the odd jar and to pick it up.

The jar, whats left of it, seems to be made of clay, harden in a fire and ready for holding a liquid. But, there is a broken symbol on the jar, but it's only a peice.

Zevran attempts to inspect the broken symbol on the jar, although he is unsure of what it is. He glances around the immediate area, looking for any other pieces of the broken jar that may have pieces of the symbol on them.

The jar is completely destoried other than this one peice. A figure moves behind a building, the figure makes for it, the fire that had been held soon fades as do all the fires on the buildings, the three storage buildings comkpletely destoried.

Zevran notices the running figure. "Hey you! Stop!" He shouts as he attempts to throw the broken jar at the figure in an attempt to slow it down before he takes off after it at a run. After a few steps, he flaps his wings and takes flight in an attempt to chase the figure.

The figure is fast, a cheeta maybe, as it runs for the city walls. A bow and arrow quiver are on the person's back as they run. Their speed is impressive for someone that is on foot.

Zevran tucks his wings in and dives in an attempt to pick up enough speed and tackle the cheetah to the ground. His arms are outstretched, but his legs are straightened behind him as he dives in an attempt to make himself a smaller target if he is noticed.

The closer Zevran gets, the more detail he can get, the person is female, and she seems to already know that Zevran is there. Quickly, agile, she dodges the dive bomb and smiles. "Sorry sugar, YOu can't have this kitty today." She then drops into the sewers.

Zevran lands on his feet as he misses the dive bomb, stretching his wings and using them as an air brake. He walks back to the sewer entrance, debating whether he should attempt to follow her or not. He decides against it, since his wings would be more of a burden than anything else in an enclosed space. "You won't be so lucky next time." He shouts down into the sewers before moving away from the entrance. He takes a few running steps before becoming airborne again and flying in a path towards the waste pipes where the sewers empty themselves. He is attempting to use his sight to see if the cheetah emerges from any of the other sewer access points, or from the waste pipes.

The woman doesn't reappear until what looks to be a group of regular horseman arrive at one of the outlets, there are about twelve armed men and women waiting. The Cheetah comes out and then joins the group as she rides double with one of the men, They head north.

Zevran notices the group of horsemen as he is flying, and circles them as he sees them waiting at one of the outlets. He makes sure to stay high enough that he will be difficult to spot and attempts to tail the group once the Cheetah joins.

The trail is long, the flight is long, but soon there is the sound of work, the sounds of work. Zeveran gets an eye full of that thing he probably wish he hadn't. one full line of.. what could be guessed to be several dozen arches with arrows drawn. Then one yells "FIRE!" Zevran has found a raiding party? But they wear no symbol of who they are with.

Zevran notices the line of archers only a few moments before he hears the command to fire. Knowing what would be coming, he quickly tucks his wings in and goes into a vertical dive in an attempt to get below the trajectory of the arrows. If he isn't shot down, he will start to open his wings as he gets close to the ground in order to level out so that he is skimming horizontally above the ground with the added speed of his dive. He hoped he would be able to close the distance between him and the archers before they would be able to fire another volley.

The archers miss but then half of them draw swords expecting an attack. One, likely the leader, yells again. "READY DEFENSIVE POSTURE!" he calls out drawing a two handed weapon.

Zevran tilts his wings, using them as an air brake to stop himself about ten feet away from the leader of the troops. "I know when I'm outnumbered. What are you doing here?" He asks warily, his gaze glancing between the leader and the other troops. His muscles are tensed, incase he needs to react quickly to avoid an attack. He occasionally spares a glance behind him, incase he missed anything when he landed.

The man laughs, then yells. "FIRE!" the arches that still have bows release the drawn arrows while the ones with swords moves forward. "KILL HIM! DON"T LET HIM ESCAPE!" the leader moves forward at a trot to attack.

Zevran tenses up even more as the leader laughs, and when the fire command is given, he is ready to react. He sees the incoming arrows, and his honed combat reflexes allow him to dodge through the spaces between him. Of course, these reflexes were honed in his original form that lacked wings. Multiple arrows pierced through the thin skin of his wings, and a few more became stuck. However, Zevran had managed to dodge a majority of the arrows and none of them had hit any vital areas. "You just made a huge mistake. You ruined my wings." He snarled at the leader, opening his clawed hands as he rushed towards the leader. He payed careful attention to the two hander that the leader wielded, running through its possible attacks in his mind since it was the weapon he also favored.

The men stand back as their leader smiles a bit. "Aww, poor little deticated. You poor little baby." She growls out as he swings the sword in a down ward motion tring to slam the weapon into Zevran.

Zevran stops his charge as he sees the downward arc of the sword. He takes a step back so that he is out of range of the attack. He starts to circle around his opponent carefully, wary of any more attacks.

The man smiles. "Oh, Agile are you?" the man questions with a toothy grin as he begins to take a step only have an arrow land at his foot and then detinate, smoke fills the area as two people grab Zevran and run, they carry the man like he's nothing and they move very quickly.

Zevran blinks as the arrow lands at the foot of the man, only to have his vision obscured by smoke. He feels himself being picked up and carried against his will. "Hey, put me down!" He says, trying to struggle out of the grip of his Griffonnappers. His struggling attempts seem to be half-hearted, as he realizes that it might cause more damage to his wings if he falls onto the ground.

After a long while, the two carring Zevran stop and put the man down, they both wear Cliffside emblems. "You are safe for now. But I do suggest you leave quickly before Toros comes and finds us." The woman looking down at Zevran seems to be nervous of the man but not hostile towards him.

Zevran looks in confusion at the two who took him. "Safe? You're Cliffsiders. Why are you helping me?" He asks them, seemingly ignoring the warning although he does glance at his surroundings.

The woman shakes her head and departs, she doesn't answer the question as she runs into the forest, masks covering their faces as they retreat.

Zevran shakes his head. He is tempted to chase them, but decides that he has sustained enough injuries for one day. He carefully opens his wings, wincing at the pain that the arrows cause. A few of them are out of his reach, so he will need to find someone to remove them for him. It seems he will have to make the journey back to Firmament on foot.
