There was no bounty on the board today, but rather a warning on several public buildings that the shanties are to be avoided even more than usual, as one of the resident gangs has brought a sizeable area under their control, bringing even more danger and unstability to the darkest place of the city.
Stepping into the outskirts of the area that was marked as being under the gang's control is none other than the orange furred, robe clad feline Lidara, with a short bow and quiver slung over his shoulder along with two daggers at his sides. His hands do linger down near the hilts of each of the daggers though and his head on a swivel, the feline's eyes darting this way and that in search of any potential threats. His stance is even already slightly lowered. For the moment though, he simply rests there, observing the area around him while he considers... exactly where it is that he should start.
A light tapping can be heard behind the well armed feline. It grows louder and louder as it gets closer. It's not even that loud, but it could be anything. A voice rises, quietly calling out "Lidara!" The voice belongs to Kastovin! He is clad in a white robe, finely embroidered with gold thread in patterns of leaves falling from a dying tree. It moves stiffly, letting one guess it's padded on the inside with something thick to absorb blows. A hood covers most of his head, only allowing an eye to peek to see what's around him and his ears to poke out of the top. It's a worthy note that he is letting off no light. In his hand is the source of the tapping, it's a hooked staff, reminiscent of a shepherd's crook. He walks up to the orange cat, a lot more silent now, not letting his staff tap on the ground. "I see you came to see what this new gang is about, hmm?" He smiles up at the well armed cat.
Galve slips out of one of the shadowy alleys nearby, his cloak drawn around him. He drew up to the pair, nodding to them quietly as he did so in an attempt to remain unnoticed by anyone who might take notice that he didn't want to.
There are several beings patrolling the streets, all badly armed and wearing different rags, and all wearing a blue scarf somewhere on their bodies. Two are standing on the roofs of some shacks, one with a makeshift bow, the other actually having a musket. One of the beings on the ground, an otter, is wearing a few mismatched pieces of armor over normal peasant clothing, and has a muzzled maneback on a chain. Carts and tables have been overturned to make the street narrower, allowing the gang to force intruders through a chokepoint.
Lidara quickly perks up upon hearing that tapping, his movement stopping completely for a moment before he twirls around to see exactly what the noise was coming from. He doesn't actually register exactly who the figure is until he hears his voice though, at which point a smile immediately forms on his muzzle. "Kastovin! I can't say that I was expecting to see you here," his own voice quiets again, "Yep. If they're a threat to the city, I thought I might as well do my best to help." His attention is soon drawn to the third figure that joins them though, who gets a nod in return, and then in turn to the town in front of them once more. For a few moments more, he simply considers his options... before simply shrugging. "So... do either of you have any ideas that are better than just charging forward?"
Kastovin looks around the group. He comments "One of us could take out the roof people, I assume this guy here can fly without fully wearing himself out.." He gestures to Glave. "And if not, I can always go up there." He looks to the chokepoint "I could toss something nasty into that chokepoint right there..." He points to all the overturned carts "If nothing else, it's clear all that up."
Galve nods, shifting his cloak aside to reveal his iridescent insect wings. "I could, if you want." He says, resting his other hand on his sword pommel.
The two guards on the roof seem to be chatting with each other, causing them to have not spotted the rag tag group of beings that is so obviously standing right outside of their newly claimed territory, but it is unsure for how long. The gang members on the street are hurrying in and out of the buildings, hurling what few valuables they can find out of them and onto a small pile.
Lidara gives a nod of his own at that, glancing between the two rooftop sentries as he does so. "I might be able to hit one of the beings on the roof from here...," he shrugs the short bow off of his shoulder and into his hands, crouching down slightly and glancing to Galve as he does so, "Try to take out the one with the musket, I think. If I miss, then they're going to be much more of a threat than the one with the bow." He knocks an arrow, but doesn't take aim quite yet, seemingly waiting for the go ahead from the others.
The cat rummages though his robe "Now, where did I put..." He hmms and sighs "Must've forgotten it..." He looks and says "If you get one, go for it. I can try doing something about the other, but it will surely be seen and heard by everyone around here."
Galve nods, pulling his cloak back over himself and slipping up to the outside of the building. flipping his cloak back and extending his iridescent wings. Using the building's wall to aid his ascent and hide him from the guards as he rose, before coming to a stop just below the ledge. He waits for a moment to glance back before pulling himself up, his sword drawn, and rushed the being with the musket.
The wasp's attack pierces the musketeer from behind, causing him to sink to the ground as Galve withdraws the sword. The archer does not even have time to react as his chest is hit by an arrow from Lidara's shortbow and he starts coughing up blood. The commotion does not go unnoticed and there is a lot of shouting and running around in the street, as beings draw weapons and get into positions.
By the time Galve is on the roof, Lidara has his shot lined up and is able to let it loose right on que. Really where the arrow lands make the cat wince, but... he doesn't have time for mercy right now. Their presence is now known, after all. That shortbow is quickly slung back over the feline's shoulder, his hands instead going to draw the daggers at his side, and he begins darting over to take cover behind on the bits of debris used to make the chokepoint. "They already know that we're here, so there's no need to worry about being loud anymore. Might as well see if you can catch them off guard with some of your magic."
Kastovin nods! He stands tall, or as tall as he could possibly be, and looks towards whoever is closest to them. Raising an arm, he aims slightly above them, his eyes move over to lidara and he smiles, his eyes have turned a deep chrimson. "Remember my old lightning bolt trick? I've improved it." He focuses all his might to the space above the heads of whoever is unfortunate enough to be his target.
Galve pulls his sword from the bandit's chest and slips it into it sheath again, scooping up the musket and taking aim at one of the bandit's below from the roof.
The musket is probably not going to be Galve's new favorite weapon, seeing how no matter how often he pulls the trigger, it refuses to fire. Kastovin on the other hand is doing great, electrocuting an owl, which is now twitching on the ground. Meanwhile, a rat being with two "daggers", they are really just large, sharp kitchen knives, attempts to sneak up on Lidara, but is quickly taught to not bring knives to a dagger fight, as the cat quickly disposes of him.
With that problem dealth with, Lidara turns his attention down the choke point once more, although the bolt of lightning does get him to hesitate for a moment and take a quick step back. After that though, he begins his advance. The cat moves about as quickly as his feet can carry him to slip through that funnel as fast as possible, doing his best to get past any beings blocking his path so that he can reach a more open fighting area.
Galve throws down the defective musket, drawing his sword and surveying the area for more trouble.
Kastovin runs to follow lidara, stopping at the mouth of the choke point. He calls out to lidara "Clear the way!" He readies something in his hand, ready to throw at the two, but waiting for Lidara to be clear of the blast radius.
The two beings Kastovin torched are a lot worse for wear as they get up from rolling around on the ground to get the flames out. Their attempts to catch the magician go unrewarded as he catapults himself out of their reach with his air magic, while Lidara finds himself engaged with a monitor lizard and a snake, the former swinging a rusty sword at him, while the snake swings a club in one hand and tries to stab him with a broken bottle in the other. Galve notices that the being with the maneback has not joined the fighting, the bull is instead shouting orders.
Lidara quickly brings himself to a halt once the two beings move to engage him, his stance lowering into one that's much more combat ready and his hands gripping at the hilts of his daggers just a bit tighter. Once their attacks are dodged though, he uses the motion to perform a little twirl and move to step to the side of the monitor lizard, his leftmost dagger, which looks much more like a parrying blade, really, going to lock the sword in place with its hilt while he uses the other to slash across the arm holding it. Looks like he's trying to get him to drop the weapon.
Galve p
In the safty in the air for the few seconds he was in there, he pulls out a small metal rod from his robe. This rod is tipped with a bit of crystal and seems totally harmless, that is until he whispers something to it and the tip flairs to life. From the tip a spooling line of fire drops from it, but goes no further than his legs. He releases himself from his air spell, letting himself fall to the ground while whipping at the nearest goon.
Galve eyes the bull with the maneback. He takes to the air, hovering over to the next rooftop to try and get closer for a better angle.... best not to kill this one.
The Lizard is given a painful cut across his arm and, indeed making him drop his weapon and grasping the wound in pain, while Lidara dodges a bottle stabbing from the snake. Kastovin's whippings do not get rid of his opponents, but at least they are too scared to attack.
Lidara kicks the dropped sword off to the side and takes a step away from the lizard now, though he does make sure to keep him in line of sight, even now. For the most part, however, his attention has turned onto the snake now, who he takes a moment to look over... before simply speaking, "I've already managed to get rid of three of you. If you drop your weapons now and run away, I won't chase after you." For the moment, he doesn't attack, but he does keep himself ready to strike on a moment's notice if the reptile chooses not to take his offer.
Kastovin keeps whipping at the feet of the thugs, trying to keep them at bay. He smiles over to lidara and says "You should listen to him, if you know what's good for your health, as I hear dying can be bad." He's whipping with his left hand, and has his staff in the right, ready to swing at anyone who gets too close to him.
Galve runs to the edge of the current roof and throws himself off, his wings buzzing as he lands next to the bull, sword brandished.
The snakes looks around herself for a moment, while taking a few steps backwards. "Ahw, screw this." She drops her bottle and heads away from the fighting on fast feet. The duo engaged with Kastovin looks at each other before fleeing as well, leaving only the bull with maneback, who got his muzzle removed at some point of the fight. The ganger swings his mallet at the wasp.
Lidara smiles in relief once not only the woman engaged with him but also the pair fightning Kastovin turn tail... but, before long, his attention turns to the last combatant left and he can't help but sigh. Once the cat sees the bull swing that mallet though, he doesn't hesitate to run forward and slice his dagger right along the center of his back, giving another quick comment as he does so, "Everyone else is gone now, which leaves just you against the three of us. Do you really want to stand and fight?"
Galve is smashed in the face with a mallet, as his acrobatics left him little room to dodge in time. He was stunned and dazed for a moment, and staggered back a few steps. But he got his sword up to block any further blows.
Kastovin turns off his whip, eyeing the leader with his fiery eyes. He does not let the leader respond as he aims just above the head, just has he's done before. This time, static licks off the metal of the staff, arcing between his risen fingers. "We can't let him have a chance!" The wind picks up around them, the cat is focused only on his spell.
The bull is hit by the magical attack from Kastovin, just after a smirk had formed on his face as his patchwork armor blocked the attack from Lidara. He is sent staggering and lets go off the chain that is holding the maneback back, which, in turn, pounces at Lidara, who manages to leap out of the canine's way in the last moment.
Lidara goes slightly wide-eyed when his attack simply bounces off of armor, and his eyes only widen further once the lightning strikes the bull. Thankfully, however, he's still present enough to spot and avoid the attack from the maneback, which his attention now turns onto. There's another very brief pause now while the feline simply considers his possible actions... before he dashes forward and attempts to leap onto the maneback's back so that he can plunge a dagger straight into its neck.
Kastovin rushes forward as Lidara goes in for the attack. The cat would go in for a third thunder bolt, but he does not want to hit Lidara. He is not sure what to do from his position, as he had not prepaired many spells, so he waits behind the two, ready to launch a third bolt of Lidara misses his chance to end it!
Galve dives for the bull, sword out to drive it into the being's torso as he propelled himself forward with his wings.
The maneback meets a quick and sad end, the poor animal's throat pierced by the sharp dagger, it breaks down quickly. As Galve charges the bull once more, he is easily sidestepped and the bovine counters quickly with another swing at the wasp's head with his mallet, knocking him out.
Lidara frowns and lets out another sigh once he feels the animal slump to the ground beneath him, but the fight's not over quite yet. The cat's quickly back on his feet and has his attention on the bull once more, simply giving a silent, "You should've ran while you could," before dashing forward again. This time he doesn't hold back one bit, attempting to run right in front of the bovin and drag his curved dagger along his stomach, only to perform another twirl to get behind him and plant the more pointed one into his back again.
Kastovin leans on a near by crate, smiling as Lidara cleans up the final guy. He takes out a pack of spiced nuts as the event unfolds in front of him, but he is ready to spring back into action at a moments notice. "You got him, Lidara!" Kast calls with his mouth full and while giving a thumbs up!
The bull finally goes down from Lidara's final attack and it looks like the gang has given up on this part of the shanties, having left behind the stolen valuables and having abandoned their leader. It takes Galve about ten minutes to wake back up, and he has the mother of all headaches, but overall, the fight went well.
Lidara slumps forward a little bit now, taking a short moment to clean off his blades as best he can before placing them back into their sheathes... and simply giving one last sigh as takes a seat, his eyes cast down to the ground in front of him. He's even panting slightly now. "I'm glad that's over...," his attention goes back up to Kastovin now, "We can walk back to the city together, if you'd like. Just give me a second to rest and I'll be good to go."
Kastovin puts away the bag he was eating from dusting his hands of any spices that may be on it. "Yes, let's head back. This will be quite the story to tell!" He holds out a hand for Lidara to grasp onto as they walk away from their carnage. Kast gives a final look at the blood soaked streets and shrugs, this was nothing new to him.
Galve rubs his head and stands, having been out for several minutes due to that mallet blow. He stood groggily and followed the other two after having retrieved his sword. "I.... I think I'm gonna go... go see a healer....." He says, wobbling a little as he walked but otherwise fine.
