Blutsauger Leech

This highly unpleasant leech lives near the coast of Shralesta, where it lurks in salt or brackish water, waiting for a potential host to pass by. Although relatively small, the blutsauger is able to engorge itself many times during feeding, turning itself into a literal blood bag encased within a thin, rubbery skin.

Interestingly, because of its adaptation to salt water, this species cannot withstand fresh water and will bloat and perish in short order. As such, the best way to encourage such a leech to detach itself is to spray or rinse it with copious amounts of fresh water until it decides the meal isn't worth it.
