Aria

Queen of the skies. King of the winds. Aria appears neither male, nor female and when it speaks, it is in the breathy whisper of wind rustling in the leaves, or howling through canyons. When the Spirit appears, it is as a humanoid figure wrapped in layers and layers of tattered, gauzy shrouds. Winds constantly whip the material around, though nothing but a vague form are ever made evident. Sometimes it wears a glittering silver circlet. Aria embodies the transience of the wind and the omni-present nature of air itself, always present, but always moving and changing. In her is the gentle summer zephyr and in him is the howling hurricane. Followers of Aria tend to be capricious with little regard for social norms or definitions.

Basic Pact

  • Bid: I bid you move.
  • Offer: I offer you the freedom of the skies and the wind always at your back.
  • Purpose: Flow. Shift. Change. Move. Never be still. To be still is to stagnate, to stagnate is to die. Follow the wind. Follow your heart. Lead if there is nothing to follow.
  • Gift: Aria's gift is a plain silver ring with no marking. It cannot be marked and always fits perfectly on whatever finger the caller chooses to wear it on.
  • Mark: Aria's followers always appear to be standing in stiff winds, their hair and clothing blown about by a gale unseen and unfelt by others. This has no mechanical effect, and does not hamper the dedicant.

Benefits

  • By expending a hero point, a caller of Aria may use the power of the air to move at blinding speeds for a short time, Riding the Wind, as it were. This only allows for movement in a mostly straight line and can be used either running or flying. It can also aid in a long jump.
  • A Caller with an air magic score of 13 or higher can also expend a hero point to pass any air magic test (With a DC less than 13) without a roll. This is at the Judge's discretion. Alternatively, a caller with no skill in air magic may use a hero point to gain +10 to their skill roll. This power does not apply to a caller with an air magic score above 12.
  • Aria's Callers are expected to be often on the move. Callers are expected to come when their Spirit calls, and the winds call often. Callers wishing to maintain Aria's favor must often seek out new places and adventures, and should be willing to travel at a moment's notice. The wind does not get bogged down with connections or material possessions. Any caller who does not fulfill this requirement loses access to the benefits granted by their dedication as well as the mark until they move on. Having a sedate, routine lifestyle can lose the Spirit's approval permanently.
  • When calling on Aria's power directly, at a judge's discretion, a being may be thrown slightly off course, leading them to paths and actions they might not otherwise try.

Personality

  • Aria is unpredictable. There is no telling what its personality will be like from one meeting to another. Usually, the Spirit is wise and thoughtful, but that can change from one moment to the next. Aria is dangerous to approach, which the unwary can learn very, very quickly.
