When it comes to living off the land and wilderness survival and knowledge, look no further than the Royal Rangers. These highly trained individuals are experts of the land and are willing to train interested beings should they pay the costs for such an art. Setting up shelter and avoiding the elements comes naturally, hunting and fishing a breeze, and the knowledge of dangerous flora and fauna help keep them alive longer in harsh environments. One doesn't have to be an actual member of the organization to take up this training, but those who do decide to join the ranks are expected to take matters of the environment seriously (such as acting on poaching and illegal foresting and noticing negative trends) and will most likely be called upon should situations occur. Royal Rangers gain an additional 15 loadout, and a non-automatic +1 to the final result of any wilderness survival-related roll. They also gain [[survivalism]]. | When it comes to living off the land and wilderness survival and knowledge, look no further than the Royal Rangers. History
The Royal Rangers were formed in 145 SA, shortly after the founding of Firmament and Sweetwater proper by Sandra Good. Before then, many beings had taken to the wilds, making their living by forestry, trapping, and gathering. With the haphazard and yet fast-paced growth of the kingdom, especially in the wake of Queen Good's rule, it soon became apparent that the needs of these folk and the farmers were coming into conflict, as the latter encroached upon land claimed by the former.
It was from these wildsfolk that the Royal Rangers were established with Sandra Good's blessing, to settle such disputes and make sure that the land's bounty was used in a wise and sustainable manner. Later, their role expanded to that of inspecting fish, game and woodland use, rescuing beings in danger in the wilderness, and providing advice to travellers on local hazards of nature. They are often the first to spot disturbances in the natural makeup of an area.
Rangers are first trained in general wilderness survival and forestry, then specifically sent to gain practical experience in the kind of land they wish to oversee under a senior ranger's tutelage. The main jurisdiction of the Royal Rangers lies in Eastbank, Saltide and the mountainous areas of Silvervein and Northwarden, although they go where they are needed.
Special Training
They also gain survivalism.
